Benjamin Prepares to Kill his Mother! Hunter x Hunter Chapter 417 Spoilers!

In the previous Hunter x Hunter chapter, 1st Prince Benjamin is cursed by 2nd Prince Camilla’s Have-Not, shortening his 10-hour lifespan even more, but he seemingly succeeds in killing 4th Prince Tserriednich while he is in Zetsu.

Hunter x Hunter Chapter 417 is titled, “Emergency”.

This chapter has 19 pages

The chapter begins with 4th Prince Tserriednich down for the count, with Benjamin lecturing his dead brother about the dangers of using Zetsu as that would cause his Guardian Spirit Beast to disappear.

Out of spite, Benjamin CRUSHES Tserriednich’s head with his boot and even sighs a breath of relief and euphoria that finally, his evil, disgusting cockroach brother is dead (because dead Tserriednich kinda looks like Asmongold).

Honestly, who can blame him?

Bro lived with a psychopath who mutilates and skins women into art pieces or kills anyone without a PhD-level intellect.

Tserriednich’s friends in Kakin’s Military Academy even saw him just shoot a guy for no reason at all and they still hang out with him as his bodyguards.

Not to mention how Tserriednich owns an entire room made up of human body parts, a throne of bones and skulls and most notoriously, the largest collection of Scarlet Eyes.

If Tserriednich is the reason Benjamin does not want anything to do with the Carne Levare, then he would be doing Kakin and the entire world a favor if he became king and abolished the orgies.

Salkov is worried that they are now under the illusion of Tserriednich’s Nen ability, Parallel Future but before he has time to figure it out, Benjamin asks the bodyguard Salkov to testify what Benjamin did, that what Benjamin is doing is a form of extrajudicial execution.

Tserriednich is human garbage, so Benjamin did not even need the Succession War to justify executing him since he always wanted to end Tserriednich with his own hands anyway.

So Benjamin wants all of Tserriednich’s men to testify, not only to reduce or even outright cancel their prison sentences but also to remind the entire world that Tserriednich is not a hero or martyr.

Unsure what to think anymore, Salkov says the only way to properly confirm Tserriednich’s death is to check on Theta and her infected cheek.

Theta was the first subject of Tserriednich’s Guardian Spirit Beast because he already sussed out how Theta was teaching him the wrong stuff about Nen, so he simply learned around it through pure genius.

Although we can already tell something much worse just happened.

Benjamin thinks Tserriednich only has a half-baked Hatsu but what if Benjamin’s arrival triggered its completion?

He faked his death multiple times but Tserriednich did not grow fast enough and nothing else happened to him after those deaths.

Here, Benjamin crushed his skull and sent his body for forensic analysis.

Benjamin orders his men to establish a unified headquarters in the 7th floor where the courtrooms are located.

Back in his room, Benjamin stores a whole box of TSK-17 in his boot, preparing to massacre his entire family.

What is so ironic is that Benjamin declared Special Martial Law due to a fake plot by his two brothers Halkneburg and Tserriednich to launch a chemical weapon of mass destruction on the Black Whale but in reality, Benjamin has the weapon itself: the TSK-17 virus

Benjamin checks on the princes captured so far and its only two: 5th Prince Tubeppa and 6th Prince Tyson.

Furthermore, 3rd Prince Zhang Lei and 7th Prince Luzurus have already escaped.

It makes sense because both of them are benefactors of two Mafia families: the Xi Yu and Cha-R families respectively.

Also, it is confirmed Zhang Lei used Coventoba, 1st Prince Benjamin’s spy in 3rd Prince Zhang Lei’s camp,  

In Chapter 415, it turns out that Zhang Lei had already left the room upon the declaration of Special Martial Law and it had to do with Coventoba possessing one of the Coins from the 3rd Prince’s Guardian Spirit Beast.

There’s a lot we still do not know about this Guardian Spirit Beast, other than its ability to produce Coins that accumulate Nen or even awaken Nen in a non-user.

This has potential to give Zhang Lei the ability to produce his own Nen army like Morena Prudo and her Contagion but much much slower.

However, now we see the possibility that anyone holding Zhang Lei’s coins can be partially controlled by him.

We say partially because this chapter also reveals that Coventoba was aware of the Coercion at play.

As for 7th Prince Luzurus, Kanjidol, one of Benjamin’s men, caused a ruckus in Chapter 414 so that Ridge, a Hunter assigned to Luzurus, can be used as leverage by Benjamin against the Hunter Association.

Since Ridge tried to hurt one of Benjamin’s men, the 1st Prince can use that as justification for extralegal action against the Hunter Association to make a deal, where the Hunters help them find the 3rd and 7th Princes.

We also get an update on 9th Prince Halkenburg, who possessed Benjamin’s right hand man Balsamilco Might.

Somehow, Halkenburg is gone??

Balsamilco is back to normal and the 1st Prince’s army confirmed this through the set of questions Benjamin made to confirm Balsamilco’s true identity.

Benjamin is confused because Halkenburg’s ability is a personality-swapping arrow but how would he be able to switch bodies if he is all alone?

With Halkenburg on the loose and Tserriednich 100% NOT DEAD, Benjamin is about to get COOKED by his two little bros.

Imagine this most unholy duo, the most beloved and most hated Princes working together to take down the Lion of Kakin, with Nen abilities that only took a week to grow.

But first, Benjamin has to deal with the two Princes in his custody.

In Room 1001, Benjamin greets 5th Prince Tubeppa and 6th Prince Tyson and tells them about the context behind the Special Martial Law declaration as thanks for their cooperation.

So Benjamin makes up a cover story: it is one of his undercover personal soldiers within 2nd Prince Camilla’s army. He stole a chemical component that on its own is not dangerous but they need to recover it to prevent disaster, hence the need to declare Special Martial Law all over the Black Whale.

5th Prince Tubeppa, who is something of a scientist herself, (Willem Dafoe meme), asks why something like that was snuck onboard the Black Whale, to which Benjamin says it is basically pesticide to deal with any of the creatures in the New Continent.

6th Prince Tyson casually declares that they should all go back to killing each other like normal since there is no risk of a terror attack anyway.

Fun fact, Tyson is an adult and here, she’s somehow less mature than Princes ranked below her like Luzurus and Halkenburg.

Benjamin brings up Kurapika’s hypothesis from Chapter 411 that would change the entire Succession War.

Wherein if multiple princes survive and reach the New Continent after the two-month deadline, Kakin will lose the protection of its Guardian Spirit Beasts and the entire Kakin royal family will collapse.

So Benjamin uses Kurapika’s hypothesis as a way to lure the other Princes into his room.

All in order to wipe them out.

With one footstep, Benjamin leaks out the TSK-17 in gas form.

Before leaving, Benjamin tells Tubeppa and Tyson to let his men continue their inspections in their rooms.

While Tyson thinks Benjamin is the most worthy successor to the Kakin throne, Tubeppa is quite suspicious of what is going on.

If there is a regime change and the Succession War is cancelled, it only works as soon as Nen users like Benjamin and Camilla are removed from power first.

After this, Benjamin leaves, with Coventoba and Balsamilco joining them.

Balsamilco worries that the two should not be joining him as they will compromise their mission but Benjamin tells them to not waste time worrying about him or the morale of their army.

Benjamin orders the two men to use their Gyo to analyze all the threats on Benjamin’s body: the TSK-17, Camilla’s Have-Not curse and of course Beyond Netero’s even stronger Nen curse.

As Benjamin gets excited for all the threats to his life, he hypes up his army, saying that death is their friend for they are the 1st Division of Kakin’s Royal Army.

While Balsamilco works on tailing 9th Prince Halkenburg’s next body, Coventoba confirms that 3rd Prince Zhang Lei’s Nen Coin has a new effect after 10 days of holding it, in which the holder of the Coin can be manipulated to reveal secrets but there is a possibility that if the Coin lasts beyond 10 days, there could be more effects.

This is how Zhang Lei escaped as Coventoba told him about Benjamin’s plan to use Special Martial Law to kill the Kakin Princes

To deal with 3rd  Prince Zhang Lei and 7th Prince Luzurus, Benjamin arrests their uncles, Xi-Yu Mafia boss, Onior Longbao and Cha-R Mafia boss Brocco Li.

Togashi really loves Dragon Ball and the Saiyan vegetables names, huh?

Anyway, Benjamin considers Kurapika’s hypothesis of multiple survivors and says that this will not end Kakin.

That is because of Article 1 Of The Emergency Law, where the King is obligated by the Kakin Constitution to name a new successor amidst a major crisis.

So Benjamin cooks up a ton of fake stories in his head.

First off, 2nd Prince Camilla has already been infected TSK-17 in the last chapter.

Right now, Camilla is panicking over her health, asking for any medical equipment or scientists to come in and check her situation.

Benjamin has no regrets killing her since she pulled the trigger first.

4th Prince Tserriednich is confirmed dead by Benjamin and he feels absolutely cathartic that a parasite to Kakin’s legacy has been squashed like a bug.

We already know in this chapter that 5th Prince Tubeppa and 6th Prince Tyson have been poisoned with TSK-17 but he admits they are still worthy of respect as human beings.

As for 11th Prince Fugetsu, he pities the girl’s cursed state and confirms through his exorcism of those cursed spirits that her twin sister, 10th Prince Kacho, is dead.

So he makes up a cover story for ending her: that after being infected by the TSK-17 virus and despairing about Kacho’s death, Fugetsu chose to end her life with poison.

And out of pity, Benjamin prays that Fugetsu reincarnates into an ordinary family in her next life.

As for 8th Queen Oito, Benjamin reveals how she became queen.

To give her family and loved ones a life of wealth and luxury, she accepted a future with King Nasubi where their child would inevitably become a sacrifice for the Succession War.

While he is against her deception, Benjamin sympathizes with her reasoning to swap children with her younger sister and offers to have Oito be exiled as long as she can provide proof the real 14th Prince Woble is not on the Black Whale.

However, if the baby is onboard, both mothers and children, alongside Oito’s entire clan, will be exterminated.

Benjamin’s plan is to either kill the Princes ASAP or infect them with TSK-17 for a guaranteed death, then force his father Nasubi to name his illegitimate child the heir to the throne.

We finally get an explanation for what Benjamin’s Guardian Spirit Beast can really do.

“The Wandering People’ (bohemian rhapsody). After Benjamin’s death, it merges with Benjamin’s Nen, selects one of his blood relatives, and becomes that person’s guardian spirit beast. 

(Once it fuses with a Nen beast and loses the means to inhabit a living human in this world, it forfeits the right of succession, just as tenth prince kacho did and that resulted in her own Guardian Spirit Beast taking the form of Prince Kacho, implying that the Guardian Spirit Beast works exactly like Benjamin’s but without the Succession mechanism.)

Furthermore, the method for determining which blood relative-one of his natural kin-it will possess: first, the decision is whether first prince benjamin or his guardian spirit beast will choose the initial host. 

Thereafter, they will take turns choosing each succeeding host whenever the current blood-relative host dies and is replaced. 

Benjamin also needs to die first before Beyond Netero’s curse takes effect or else he loses the power of the Guardian Spirit Beast to become a Guardian Deity for Kakin.

Benjamin holds his mother 1st Queen Unma in contempt, angered that she exploited Furykov’s absolute devotion to him to force the bodyguard to spend the entire Royal Family into a forced mass murder-suicide.

Benjamin realizes that his mother wanted one of her children to become King but since Benjamin and Tserriednich would support Beyond’s ambition, thus becoming an obstacle to her gaining complete power, she so chose Halkenburg because he was easier for her to manipulate.

Note what Benjamin does not say here.

In the last chapter, we know Benjamin was Beyond’s preference because he would preserve Kakin tradition and support the Dark Continent Voyage.

But again, no mention of what Unma thinks of Tserriednich but this time, there is even more confirmation he is Beyond Netero’s own son because Tserriednich’s ascension would benefit Beyond as well.

So now Benjamin is about to kill his own mother and make her choice: to beg for her own life or to spare her youngest son.

Outside of the scheduled hiatuses, for the first time in a long time, Hunter x Hunter will be on BREAK NEXT WEEK due to the Obon holiday and thus a magazine holiday.

Hunter x Hunter Chapter 418 will be released on August 24, 2026.
