Pre-Devil Fruit Brook was a LEGEND! One Piece Chapter 1183 Full Spoilers!
Before being brought back to life with the Yomi Yomi no Mi, Brook’s musical swordsmanship was already infamous over 70 years ago, making him a legend long before the rise of the King of the Pirates.
In the previous One Piece chapter, Killingham unleashes his strongest Nightmare yet, the Rain Goddess Zaza!
One Piece Chapter 1183 is titled, “Good Mormaid”
Translation note: The Japanese title is written as “グッドモー人魚” (GOOD MOーNINGYO)
combining:
“グッドモー” = “Good Mo—” (from Good Morning)
and
“人魚 (Ningyo)” = “Mermaid”
It is a pun on the English phrase “Good Morning,” + “Ningyo” (Mermaid) turning it into “Good Mor-Mermaid” or for better English translation, “Good Mor-Maid”
The title comes from Brook’s song in this chapter.
One Piece takes the lead in the magazine cover for this week.
Color Spread Cover: the Straw Hat Crew with two elephants.
At the center is Luffy laughing or cheering.
While Robin is sitting in mid-air with a parasol, Sanji serves her drinks and Usopp holds on for dear life on the first elephant on the left side, Nami reads a map while pointing up, Zoro is drinking, Chopper, Jinbe and Franky jumping with Brook playing.
This chapter has 17 pages.
Editor’s note: “Loki vs Imu! The deadly battle continues!!”
Ragnir’s Revenge
The chapter starts with Imu conversing with Loki and Ragnir, with Imu noting that Ragnir was patiently waiting for his revenge on Imu.
Imu resolves to kill Luffy and Loki, seeing as they will not become allies through Domi Reversi, just as he killed Douzan.
Loki launches “Ragna Twinheim” (“Iron Lightning Dual Martial World”) against Imu.
Using his Omen handsign, Imu turns his glaive into one full of flaming spikes called “Gram”.
The technique is written in Kanji as “憤怒剣” meaning “Wrath Sword,” read in kana as “GURAMU” = “GRAM.” “Gram”, Old Norse for “wrath” or “ill-tempered,” is the legendary, dragon-slaying magic sword used by the hero Sigurd (or Siegfried) to kill the dragon Fafnir in Norse Mythology.
It seems that Nemesis and Gram follow a similar theme.
They are not unique swords but are made from Omen flames.
Imu works like Morena Prudo from Hunter x Hunter, who essentially has her own power system within the story.
Dosan is the Original Loki?
While in the early spoilers we seem to emphasize the recently emerging role of Chopper’s anti-demon powers in Chapter 1177: “Furious”, another, more plausible theory emerges.
What if Dosan is actually based on another, more prominent figure, one of Japan’s “Three Great Villains”, Saito Dosan.
This fits Loki’s reputation more as Elbaph’s most hated villain, so in a way, Loki was the right person to acquire Nidhogg not just through strength but by fate.
Loki’s serpent eyes must have been a trait intended for whoever would acquire Nidhogg, not really for power but a mark of being a pariah like the original Dosan.
Is Sanji About to Break His One Rule?
In West Village, the MMA Zaza sucks up all the children through her water body.
Chopper tells Ripley and the other adults, who just recovered and received blood transfusion, to not strain themselves or they will die.
However, Ripley says she and the others would rather die than see their children get taken.
Sanji is closing in as Zaza has already drawn in seven children out of the original ten.
Will he fight the apparation, who takes the form of a woman, or simply attack Killingham himself.
Pre-Devil Fruit Brook is a Legend on his Own
The scene cuts to the other Straw Hat Pirates. Nami, Usopp, Brook, Franky and Jinbe.
Usopp asks Brook about the woman he fought earlier.
Brook finally opens up about his past.
Brook reveals that Gunko looks exactly like someone from his past: the princess of his homeland, Esperia Kingdom.
However, Brook is deeply confused because if that was really her, she should already be 77 years old by now.
The Straw Hats point out that Gunko is still a Celestial Dragon who attacked Elbaph, but Brook remembers that she was the one who loosened the arrow ropes earlier that enabled them to escape.
Brook also recalls Gunko briefly telling him to run away.
He notices that she seemed to have multiple personalities. Three in fact:
The first personality is the Celestial Dragon, who first appeared before them as the enemy who took Elbaph’s children and wanted to make Brook his music slave.
The second was the one that appeared in brief moments to save Brook and the others.
The third was the demon who ruled over the other invaders.
Three personalities, just like the leading theory on Blackbeard and why his ship has three skulls.
Perhaps Blackbeard is somewhat inspired by the “Three Jokers” theory, that there are different types of Jokers Batman fights.
Like how one minute, Blackbeard is a cunning strategic mastermind, the next a believer in fate who does not mind what happens but also sees himself as destined for greatness, and the next minute a bumbling coward who begs for his life.
Nami wonders if the girl is being controlled.
After witnessing Domi Reversi, its ability to turn people into demons and watching an army of immortal, undying invaders, Brook realizes he cannot shake this deep, unsettling feeling in his heart.
Jinbe tells Brook to quickly make a decision on whether to spare or kill the woman, otherwise they will not be able to make their move.
And just like that, the only way to rush to a conclusion…
…is to prolong it with a flashback!!!
Brook reveals where he came from: the Kingdom of Esperia, a nation brimming with music, where instrument workshops lined the streets.
Brook’s flashback begins.
—70 years ago, West Blue – 4:00 AM—
A 20-year-old Brook sings the song that defines this chapter’s title.
When you wake up in the morning, Good Mor-maid* 🎵🎶
The begi~nning of a brand new world 🎵🎶
They say there are plenty of seas out there, I’d love to see them for myself 🎵🎶
GOOD MOR-MAID~~~~🎵🎶
TL NOTE: This is the chapter title reference. GOOD MOR-MERMAID = GOOD MOR-MAID for natural English Translation
Good morning, Esperia!! Our time waiting for the wind is finally over! Let’s set sail again today, BABY!! The back streets~~?!
The Harbor~~~?! The Arena~~~!!!
Someday I wanna meet a sexy mermaid~🎵🎶
One that can take your soul away~ A bad endin-gyo!!! (Baddie Mermaid) 🎵🎶
That last line sounds like foreshadowing to his fate in Thriller Bark.
Some of the citizens tell Brook to shut up and leave the Battle Convoy while a young Princess Shuri (Gunko) cheers and greets him.
At the Esperia Kingdom Barracks, we see Brook in action as its Captain.
The soldiers ask Brook to teach them his Flash Slash technique while making fun of how Brook dotes on Princess Shuri
We now see Brook walking hand-to-hand and singing Binks’ Sake with a young girl and this is the scene from Chapter 1149: “One Second”.
The girl is not Princess Shuri but she is watching this scene, which makes more sense.
Brook and Shuri sings Binks’ Sake together
Princess Shuri is carrying a sword on her back, which means she too is learning from Brook.
She also has her own laugh, “Dehehe”.
Brook also expresses his admiration for Shuri’s mother, Queen Candel, his “guiding light”, while the 7 year old Shuri calls out Brook for a married woman.
TL NOTE: The Kanji is 人妻 = hitozuma = married woman. But for some reason, it’s spelled as “shitozuma” here. Either this is a typo, or Shuri mispronounced the word because she’s still a kid.
Brook says that “love is free”, which is something Scopper Gaban preached in Chapter 1140.
Suddenly someone spoke: “Death penalty” for conspiracy!!
Brook turns and realizes it came from the King of Esperia Kingdom. Ruven.
TL NOTE: Brook calls Ruven “aniki.”
We do not know yet if they are blood-related, but it likely carries the same nuance as how the Franky Family, Usopp, Chopper, Nami, etc. call Franky “aniki.”
The King seems to be the person Brook considers his benefactor, on the same level as Luffy is towards Shanks.
However, here it seems the King feels genuinely worried that his longtime friend is plotting to assassinate him all because Brook has a crush on his wife.
Brook says he will just wait until the King’s lifespan runs out.
Okay, that does not make it any less morbid.
Shuri tells Brook to give up on her mother and instead to marry her when she comes of age but Ruven says that this is something she should reserve to her father and Brook himself says he does not want a wife with a runny nose.
Ruven tries to kick Brook in the head for the joke but Brook dodges.
A guard comes in to interrupt “the fun” as he informs the King that a gang is moving from the harbor towards the town, with the Battle Convoy being completely outnumbered.
Reinforcements from the castle will not make it in time.
Their target is Queen Candel, which the King confirms leads to the Muuron Family. who came from a different island.
One problem: the Den Den Mushi inside the opera house are set to silent mode.
Brook is WAY Stronger Than We Imagined
Shuri tells Brook to save her mother.
Brook nonchalantly points out that he ran into the Muuron Family in the harbor today.
At the Opera Street opera house, a play has just finished, and Candel is praising it.
The Muuron Family demands for the Queen to come out or else she will be shot, as they got permission from their leader, Don Muuron, who seems to be in love with the Queen as well.
Back in the barracks, Brook calms the King, saying that the Queen is very strong and will not get caught.
Furthermore, Brook reveals…
He has already cut them down.
Ruven and Shuri are shocked, as we cut back to the Opera House and suddenly, one by one, gang members are collapsing from slash wounds.
All gang members are down on the ground, wincing.
They were cut down by Brook’s Flash-Slash, the “Three-Verse Humming: Arrow-Notch Slash” (Hanauta Sancho: Yahazugiri).
This is an incredible feat and Brook is not even known to have any Haki at all.
This is pure swordsmanship skill.
Is Cavendish a Relative of Gunko?
From the opera house, the Queen emerges, the beautiful, surprisingly princely Candel.
She breaks so many molds in Oda’s typification of One Piece women.
Candel is a beautiful woman with a more realistic, flatter chest but with a kind, regal and more princely face donned in elegant white outfit has come out the opera.
She also somewhat resembles Cavendish, a handsome and highly sought-after prince who coincidentally has spiral eyes when he assumes his Hakuba personality.
The issue is that it is possible that Candel has light blue hair like Gunko and the other Manmeyers, so this theory is still up in the air.
Narrator: More than 70 years ago… there were two stars in the “Esperia Kingdom”… One was the former Leader of the “Battle Convoy” and the current “Queen” of the kingdom, Candel. The other, though his music was poorly received, was a master of the “Flash-Slash” so swift that those cut didn’t even notice—the Captain of the “Ambush Squad” – “Humming Brook.”
Narrator: During this time, the kingdom was at peace——
End Note: “Brook, in his younger days…”
There will be NO BREAK Next Week.
One Piece Chapter 1184 will be released on June 1, 2026.
