KAIJU NO. 8 BREAKS HIS SHELL! Kaiju No. 8 Chapter 120 Review!
Working to make his younger self proud, Kafka breaks out of his shell, literally, and takes on a more fleshy new form.

In the previous Kaiju No. 8 chapter, Kafka accepts the burden of the parasite that carried the souls of those killed by the Daikaiju of the Meiriki Era and Gen Narumi overheats Weapon No. 1’s eyes for a brief fight against the Daikaiju, giving Kafka the opening he needs.
We are now on Kaiju No. 8 Chapter 120.
This chapter has 23 pages.
The chapter begins where it left off as Gen gives the baton now to Kafka.
The Defense Force cheers on this development but it does not mean that the tides have turned.
Soshino Hoshina notices something different about him and indeed, Kafka is talking to himself, telling the Parasite that he intends to unleash him.
This might be worrying as Kafka, even accepting the burden, will lose control, not to a kaiju but the resentful spirits of the dead and burn his body out in a hopeless fight against a walking natural disaster.
As the spirits swirl around Kafka, he sees himself in the past, recalling the Kaiju that destroyed his hometown.
Kafka resented how the only thing he could be…is the first person to see the Kaiju and call for help.
“Only that.”
Something he has lived with, over and over, because he lacked the strength Mina Ashino, his childhood friend, and even other Defense Force officers have.
He resented how much he lost, such that he wished that he wasn’t the helpless boy but was a Captain like Mina, a master blade wielder like Soshina or sharpshooter like Reno or a superhero with a 10,000 kaiju killcount.
Kafka notes all the things he lost that fateful day:
The house his dad took out loans to build.
The stationery store where his grandmother bought a pencil case.
The game system his parents bought him.
Mina’s cat “Calico”
A similar feeling Eren Jaeger felt after losing his mother in Attack on Titan, wanting to become someone else.
However, we see the present Kafka telling his kid self that even though the future is not what he envisioned, he promises to make his younger self proud.
As the two look at each other and begin the transformation, in the real world, Kafka begins shedding his skin just like Kaiju No. 9 did.
And there emerges Kafka’s newest form in all of its fleshy glory, more powerful and filled with drive.
Kaiju No. 8 Chapter 121 will be released on January 30, 2025.
