Kaiju No. 8 Sells 20 Million A Year After Its Ending

Exactly a year after the end of the manga, Kaiju No. 8 hits the 20 million sales milestone.

On September 4, 2026, it was announced that Kaiju No. 8 reached 20 million copies, including spinoffs like Kaiju No. 8: Relax.

Exactly last year, September 4, 2025, on the release of the final Volume 16, the series sold over 19 million copies worldwide while before the release of the final Chapter 129, the series reached 18 million.

A contrast to the one-episode OVA “Hoshina’s Day-Off” released on March 28, 2025, the spinoff anime “Narumi’s Week at Work” will be released on September 5th, fitting the anniversary of the manga’s final volume.

Kaiju No. 8 is a manga series written and illustrated by Naoya Matsumoto for the Shōnen Jump+ app and website from July 3, 2020 to July 18, 2025..

The story follows Kafka Hibino, a 32 year old man who ingested a parasitic creature and gained the ability to turn into a kaiju, eventually joining the Defense Force that opposes the kaiju.
