Bleach WILL NOT Return in 2025
We may not get the return of Bleach in 2025 but we do at least get a preview of one of the most broken Bankai in the series.
On March 30, 2025, new information would be released regarding the Bleach: Thousand Year Blood War anime.
Although no release schedule was given, Tomohisa Taguchi, the chief director of the adaptation, has stated that they are still in the production phase as more original content will be made.
Twitter user 0ciha has interpreted the words to mean that the Bleach: Thousand Year Blood War anime will likely not release this year but probably next year the earliest.
Previously on December 5, 2024, Bleach author Tite Kubo brought up how there will be even more original content for the final cour of the TYBW anime, such that some anime episodes will be fully anime original.
We do not see any hint of these anime-original ideas during the interview but instead, we have a glimpse of Kisuke Urahara’s Bankai, “Kannonbiraki Benihime Aratame”, as well as Yoruichi’s “Shunkō: Raijū Senkei: Shunryū Kokubyō Senki”, the form Urahara activates for her that enables her to alter her Reiatsu frequently while also making her behave like a cat.
During the event, Kubo would also reveal multiple illustrations for the Bleach girls: Tier Harribel, Orihime Inoue, Yoruichi Shihoin, Rangiku Matsumoto, Riruka Dokugamine, Liltotto Lamperd, Nelliel Tu Odelschwanck, Meninas McAllon, Rukia Kuchiki, Momo Hinamori, Sui-Feng, Bambieta Basterbine, and Nemu Kurotsuchi.
About Bleach
Bleach is the manga written and illustrated by Tite Kubo for Shueisha’s Weekly Shonen Jump from August 7, 2001 to August 22, 2016 with 74 volumes and 686 chapters.
As one of Shonen Jump’s Big Three alongside Naruto and One Piece, Bleach sold greatly internationally, having reached 130 million tankōbon volumes in circulation worldwide by 2022, making it the 13th best-selling manga of all time.
Bleach would be adapted by Studio Pierrot, which also happened to adapt Naruto, on October 5, 2004 under the direction of Noriyuki Abe but would end with 366 episodes on March 27, 2012, leading to a decade-long hiatus.
Pierrot would adapt the final arc of the manga in the form of the “Thousand Year Blood War” series that began airing on October 10, 2022 and is still ongoing, being divided into 4 cours of 13 episodes.
Bleach is the story of Ichigo Kurosaki, an ordinary highschooler with the extraordinary ability to see spirits, who would be thrust to the role of Substitute Shinigami to protect his hometown of Karakura Town, while also facing off against the threat of the rebel Shinigami Sosuke Aizen and eventually, the Quincy Blood War initiated by its Emperor Yhwach.
