THE DEATH OF ASTA AND LIEBE! YUNO’S ULTIMATE FORM REVEALED! BLACK CLOVER CHAPTERS 379 AND 380 SPOILERS!!

In the previous Black Clover chapters, Asta and Yuno challenge Lucius Zogratis and seemingly defeat him but an ominous presence looms over them.

We now have two new chapters, totaling 49 pages.

The Absolute Savior

Black Clover Chapter 379 is titled, “The Absolute Savior”.

This chapter has 27 pages, including the two color pages.

Another Shipping Color Page? 

From right to left, the color spread shows Asta lying down with little Liebe on top of him, while Mimosa Vermillion looks on.

This seems to be fueling the shipping debates even more.

Fuegoleon leans on Salamander while Charmy lies on the familiar’s back.

Gauche sits with his sister Marie, who points at something.

Finally, Yuno stands with Belle while Rill paints a picture while sitting on Salamander’s tail.

It is not over!

The chapter begins with the first page showing us the defeat of all the Lucius clones.

Defeating one Lucius clone, William Vangeance is cured of his curse as we no longer see the burn on his face and has a right arm made from his World Tree Magic.

Rill is shown painting crosses, having three Lucius clones crucified in the same manner as Jesus and the two thieves.

This is some solid yet subtle Christian iconography that may look cooler in detail in the anime.

This evokes a similar but less emotional feeling to when Yami, Ichika and Nacht defeated Morgen, which evoked a bittersweet goodbye with Christian imagery.

The Black Bulls declare their victory but then, the Grimoire Towers all over the Clover Kingdom begin to glow.

Suddenly, Lucius regenerates and emerges in a new form, which shows him having biblically accurate wings that float outside of his body. This form is lankier and loses the robes, showing his legs.

We also see his ever-flipping Grimoire but compact floating in front of him.

Asta is shocked that the Lucius they took down last chapter was just a clone but Lucius notes that creating these clones took a lot of time, considering they combined the four Zogratis’ Soul, Body, Blood, and Bone Magic to be nearly as close to power as the original.

This could mean there will be no more cloning shenanigans as they cost a lot of mana.

However, the clones were necessary to buy Lucius the time he needed to connect to all the Grimoire Towers using his Super Gargantuan Magic.

We now know what the white tree is for, to connect to every Grimoire Tower in the Clover Kingdom.

But why do this?

What is so special about the Grimoire Towers?

Grimoire Lore

We cover the grimoire lore in our 379 spoilers, essentially pointing out that the true form of the Grimoires are a God-given Wisdom, which ties it to both Yuki Tabata’s old work, Hungry Joker, but also the inspiration for that series’ God-given Wisdom, the Forbidden Fruit of Knowledge in the Christian Bible.

Lucius then asks what happens to the grimoires of those who have passed away and reveals that those grimoires, their spells, and Magic power return to the Grimoire Towers of their origin.

Then we see Lucius create three golems from different magical elements.

Meanwhile, Revchi Salik, the chain user that tried to steal Yuno’s four-leaf clover Grimoire in Chapter 1: “The Boy’s Vow”, and his superior, the former Purple Orca captain Gueldre Poizot, survive the chaos but behind is Lucius.

Meanwhile, Marx Francois worries about Asta and Yuno’s condition facing Lucius. 

Mimosa asks Marx about the number of wounded, except he just up and vanishes.

Lucius reappears with the three men: Marx and the two former Purple Orcas to act as a demonstration of Lucius’ explanation about the Grimoire towers.

Lucius kills them instantly, their grimoires now absorbed into Lucius as he now chains down Yuno using Chain Creation Magic: Magic Binding Iron Chain Formation, a spell that prevents even the strongest wizards from using their Magic.

Yuno has Episode 1 flashbacks now.

Using Marx’s Communication Magic, Lucius brings out multiple screens so that the entire Clover Kingdom can view the moment Lucius will execute Asta and Yuno, as an example to all those who even think of defying Judgment Day.

The Most Vile Act in Black Clover!

In Hino Country, Ryuya Ryudo uses his Tengetsu to see everything that is happening and calls Tenmanyashiki Fujio of the Ryuzen Seven, who plays his biwa to unleash his Sound Youjutsu: Fighters’ Battle Song, which allows Ryuya to communicate his orders to those who are marked through the Song, even being able to reach the faraway mainland where Asta and the Black Bulls are.

Lucius unleashes Briar Magic but he has to dodge Asta’s Anti-Magic.

Ryu observes that Lucius is concentrating a lot of mana into the crystal core in his chest.

The core resembles the Hogyoku and it might very well have significance, probably even being a crystallized Devil Heart (could it be Astaroth the Time Devil’s heart?).

Asta’s Zetten, which can release magic power through physical movement.

Lucius pops up from behind, declaring that Asta will be brought back to life like everyone else, with magical powers and a proper life, so he asks Asta to die but before Lucius’ blade can reach him, Yuno blocks it with his Star Shield.

Both boys declare that they will not die.

Suddenly, Lucius brings out Licita, Asta and Liebe’s mother, in front of them as a body shield.

Ryu is shocked that Asta’s mother is here, wondering where Lucius met her as we see all of Licita’s scenes and of course, it makes sense how Lucius could do this.

After all, Lucifero made his first proper appearance by possessing Liebe and killing Licita.

Regardless of whether or not Licita is real, seeing her prevents Liebe from fighting any further, not wanting to harm the woman who adopted him. 

As such, the Devil Union comes undone, separating the two brothers.

In this moment of weakness, Lucius cuts down both Liebe and Asta with one blow!

A cruel blow of despair breaks the whole story of Black Clover.

The Brink of Despair: Asta and Liebe DIE!

Chapter 380 is titled, “The Brink of Despair”

This chapter has 21 pages.

From afar, Ryu (with his Tengetsu) and Ichika, via Marx’s Communication Magic, witness Asta’s fall.

Everyone, from Rebecca Scarlet, the waitress Asta once dated, to Father Oosi from Hage Church, as well as Sol of the Blue Roses, Klaus, where Asta and Yuno were raised, all saw this tragic event.

Yami is in disbelief that his underling dies and Noelle screams in sheer sorrow.

Lucius then resurrects multiple angels but they now look more terrifying, more biblically accurate.

The Army of Biblically Accurate Angels

Angels in the Bible are not handsome white-clothed beings with wings but cosmic horrors that tell others “be not afraid”

The three Archangels of Lucius’ Paladin Army, Morris, Acier, and Morgen, return as more gigantic, more monstrous angels.

Morgen looks like a centaur with four wings with eyes.

Morris resembles a crab-octopus fusion but with the same angelic scales as before.

Acier flies around as a floating serpent but her human top half is still visible.

These angels all exclaim in ecstasy the glory be given to their god, Lucius Zogratis.

Morgen restarts the fight against Yami and Nacht.

Nacht is still grappling with everything.

Just imagine what the man is going through.

He kills his brother as a Paladin once today and minutes later, he has to do it all over again.

Yami is unbelievably mad at how Lucius is toying with human life, making them feel unwarranted, unconsented ecstasy over a false paradise.

Yuno’s HYBRID FORM!

Lucius recalled how he tried to kill Asta once in Chapter 335: “Severance” and intends to confirm it but a vengeful Yuno barrages Lucius, surprising Ryu, who knew of Yuno’s immense magic power but sees it grow exponentially for the first time.

Lucius wonders if turning off Neverland was the right play just to attack Lucius but now without Neverland, they will not be able to defend from Lucius’ Time Magic.

Although the Black Bulls lose their Anti-Magic, they all agree that they can still fight against the Paladins and, especially coming from Gauche, that Asta will definitely not die.

However, the same cannot be said of the other Magic Knights, who are utterly filled with despair over Asta’s seeming demise, especially Mimosa, who is worried about Asta and Yuno.

Yuno’s hyperspeed attacks do manage to cut through Lucius but Lucius declares that no one in the world can ever beat him as he throws all the magic he controls, fire, earth, metal, water, light, spike balls and more, against Yuno.

Lying down with severe injuries, Asta says that Yuno must not die and attempts to extend his Demon Dweller Sword as he declares that he will be right behind Yuno.

Yuno smiles in agreement and comes out in an incredible new form, with his right half containing Asta’s Anti-Magic and his left half his Spirit Dive form

This is the beginning of Volume 38. 

Which means we have 6 or so more chapters until it is completed and we have 2 more issues of Jump Giga for 2025 to go through, which could give us 4 to 6 more chapters that will complete Volume 38.

This also means that Volume 38 will likely be complete by the end of 2025, with any future volume after this taking a whole year of seasonal publication to be completed rather than the weekly manga’s quarterly release of volumes.
