GOD EXISTS! The Source of Grimoires and Asta’s Father Confirmed? Black Clover Chapter 379 Early Spoilers!

The first 15 pages of Chapter 379 reveal the origin of Black Clover’s power system and possibly of its protagonist.

In the previous Black Clover chapters, Asta and Yuno challenge Lucius Zogratis and seemingly defeat him but an ominous presence looms over them.

Black Clover Chapter 379 is titled, “The Absolute Savior”.

This chapter has 20 pages, including the color pages.

However, the first 15 have been leaked.

From right to left, the color spread shows Asta lying down with little Liebe on top of him, while Mimosa Vermillion looks on.

This seems to be fueling the shipping debates even more.

Fuegoleon leans on Salamander while Charmy lies on the familiar’s back.

Gauche sits with his sister Marie, who points at something.

Finally, Yuno stands with Belle while Rill paints a picture while sitting on Salamander’s tail.

The chapter begins with Vanessa talking about beating all the Lucius clones as you see all the fighters defeating the Lucius copies in their own way

Rebecca points out the Grimoire tower shining.

It seems that Asta and Yuno really took care of Lucius Zogratis, except…

However, this move actually revealed the real Lucius all along as he allowed his clones to be defeated to buy time for his real body to move away.

Lucius clones might be the strongest clones in all of anime, with Naruto’s Shadow Clones coming close.

Lucius declares that as Great Wizard Emperor, he can use all the magic of the dead.

As it turns out, Lucius has now linked his magic to the Grimoire Towers of the Clover Kingdom using a “Super Gargantuan Compound Magic” but does not identify its components.

This is the spell that Ryuya Ryudo identified as the means by which Lucius intends to control all magic and indeed, it is proving to be the case.

Here, Lucius revealed something MASSIVE.

Grimoire Towers Are the KEY to Lucius’ Plan

In Black Clover, every human other than Asta is born with mana and could use magic from birth.

However, specific spells can only be used with a Grimoire that stores those spells because they apply the natural magic in a more complex way, like Creation Magic or stronger attack spells.

Now one lingering question fans may have is what happens to the grimoire when a mage dies.

We have seen with Licht that his Grimoire was preserved after Licht and the elves went through Reincarnation, such that 500 years later, Licita found it and used her Object Storage Magic on the Grimoire to store the mana-less Liebe within it for safety.

But Licht turns out to be an exception rather than the rule.

That is because Lucius reveals that when someone dies, their Grimoire returns to the Grimoire Towers where they came from.

Hage, a Forbidden Realm town, has a Grimoire Tower and so do the other towns.

These locations contain not only Grimoires attuned to the living but also the dead, which explains why families tend to use the same Magic.

Now Lucius goes deep into the Black Clover lore.

Ever since the beginning of humanity itself, grimoires scattered across the Earth, storing them in towers.

Lucius asks Asta and Yuno what is the true form of Grimoires, to which Lucius reveals that it is “God-Given Wisdom”.

Grimoires increased humanity’s innate magical power and are the reason the concept of magic grows stronger in the world.

God-Given Wisdom is the name of an effect of the Fruit of Knowledge, the first Eureka, in Yuki Tabata’s previous work, “Hungry Joker” and it makes sense.

Grimoires are basically the Fruit of Knowledge from the Book of Genesis.

Lucius drops another question: where do the grimoires of dead mages go?

Lucius reveals that the grimoires return to their towers of origin.

Lucius also asks what happens to the spells and magic inscribed within the Grimoire and he says that those spells are also stored in the tower as well, which is why people inherit magic from someone from long ago, perhaps even family members.

This can also explain why the Elves were able to regain their Grimoires right around the same time since they were reincarnated at the same time.

This could also be confirmation that if Asta had any magic, he would have inherited Licht’s Sword Magic.

The scene changes to Kaiser and Revchi, with Kaiser talking about things having calmed down, while Revchi proclaims that he will live no matter what.. And that’s when Lucius teleports behind them.

Revchi Salik was the first villain in Black Clover, a disgraced Purple Orca member who tried to steal Yuno’s four-leaf clover grimoire in Chapter 1: “The Boy’s Vow”

Marx, on the other hand, is nervous about the situation and he hopes Yuno and Asta are safe.

Mimosa asks Marx how many wounded remain, but she gets no answer as Marx has disappeared

Marx, Revchi and Gueldre appear next to Lucius, who demonstrates the idea of grimoires being stored in the towers after death by killing the three characters in an instant.

Yuno is suddenly attacked by Revchi’s Chain Magic, which causes Asta to try and fight back but he fails to do so.

Gueldre’s Permeation Magic can make the user and objects invisible, so it could be used for a lethal attack.

With Marx Francois’ Communication Magic, Lucius intends to broadcast the execution of Asta and Yuno before the entire Clover Kingdom.

Some powerful wizards have also been killed in this arc, including Jack the Ripper and his Slash Magic has so much destructive potential.

Could God be Asta’s Father?

We have 6 pages left for this chapter, which means Chapter 379 will have 21 pages of content, along with 2 pages for the color spread.

However, this information could reveal more than the key lore about Grimoires.

We might actually confirm that Asta had a father, or rather that he could not.

Licita’s body absorbs the mana from people she touches, which is why she lives an isolated life and why she left Asta in Hage Church.

In Chapter 350: “The Holy Woman’s Confession”, after being freed from being Lucius’ Paladin, Sister Lily revealed to Asta that she hated the discrimination of the Noble Realm, so she joined the Church but even the Church had discrimination, which made thematic sense why Sister Lily became Lucius’ first Paladin and the first one to be freed by Asta.

This is also the chapter where it is revealed that Lucius intends to take control of ALL the world’s magic.

Considering his words about the Grimoire Towers, this follows through Lucius’ intent to kill every living person on Judgment Day.

He can preserve magic in every Kingdom’s Grimoire Towers, connect to all the towers with Extreme Ultimate Magic, and then revive them with perfected versions of their magic as immortal beings.

Also Sister Lily constantly prayed for salvation, for someone to end the discrimination.

Asta came to Hage Church, with Lily arriving while Asta was still a young boy rather than as a baby.

Nonetheless, all these signs, especially Licita’s bodily condition, confirm that

God has been confirmed for quite a while since the Clover Kingdom grimoire is based on the Holy Trinity and it is even explicitly stated that the three leaves represent Faith, Hope, and Love, with the fourth for luck, which is not a Christian concept, and the fifth for the Devil, which is a Christian idea meant to represent the opposite of luck and to connect to the pentagram symbol.

Elves are also called “messengers of God”, their ten leaders called the Apostles of Sephirah and those “loved by the mana”.

In Christianity, the Messiah prophesied by the Jewish prophets came in the form of a man born from a virgin mother.

Shinra and Sho Kusakabe from Fire Force are also products of virgin birth.

In Black Clover, Asta is a “flaw” of the world and Julius Novachrono, Lucius’ other half, is considered a response to anyone disturbing the natural order, such as Patolli and the Reincarnated Elves, which is how Lucius also views himself in relation to Asta.

But what if this is Black Clover’s sign of contradiction, that the flaw of the world, the only human without mana and magic, will be its true savior.

Asta, the most discriminated being as both a bearer of a devil and a being without magic, would challenge the ultimate human with Magic, Lucius Zogratis, to correct this false messiah’s judgment day.
