In spite of Hunter X Hunter author Yoshihiro Togashi’s awful condition, he doesn’t refrain from appearing in written interviews and drawing illustrations to his fans.

On Nov 15, 2023, Togashi described some behind-the-scenes while drawing some of his characters, like Killua Zoldyck, in an interview that was featured in a live-streamed program in Japan.

During the program, a special illustration by the author was presented to Seki Yumiko, an upcoming artist, featuring Killua presenting flowers to Seki, commemorating her graduation from Sakurazaka46, with the words “To Ms. Seki Yumiko: Graduation is just the starting line!”

A noteworthy aspect of the interview is that Togashi says his favorite Nen ability in Hunter X Hunter is used by Kacho, the 10th Prince of the Kakin Empire, and it is modeled after 2 Sakurazaka46 songs.

“My favorite one is the one used by Kacho, the Tenth Prince of the Kakin Empire, called “Futari Saison (Kimi ga Inai)” (two references to Keyakizaka46 songs). When I created this ability, TAKAHIRO, the choreographer for Keyakizaka46/Sakurazaka46, was explaining the meaning of the choreography for Keyakizaka46’s “Futari Saison” and the interpretation of Keyakiza songs on TV.

I was so moved by it that I immediately created this ability! When I saw these two songs (Futari Saison and Kimi ga Inai) being performed in sequence in a live performance, I lost my emotional equilibrium. I really like songs that have such power.”
