Hunter x Hunter is Halfway Done with Its Second Batch Release
With the halfway point of the second batch of Hunter x Hunter chapters reached, fans can anticipate the new batch to come by early 2027.
On August 25, 2026, it has been announced that Yoshihiro Togashi has sent Chapter 426 to Weekly Shonen Jump.
Two weeks ago on August 11th, Togashi submitted Chapter 425, marking the halfway point in the batch release schedule.
On July 8, Togashi had also confirmed that Chapter 422 was sent to Shueisha.
With Chapter 426, it is steadily clear that the next batch release is already underway, possibly closer than before.
At the start of 2026, Togashi had sent out Chapter 413.
Togashi completed the manuscript for Chapter 420 on February 24th while inking for Chapter 430 was finished by April 8th while announcing that Shonen Jump will give the final word about the first batch release, which did happen by the end of June, meaning 2 months after this announcement.
Chapter 420’s background work was finished on October 6,2025 while character inking began on September 29, 2024, meaning there is a plausible gap of 4 months between “background work” and “manuscript completion” and a full year between its inception via “character inking” and “background work”.
However, this is different with some chapters, as Togashi began doing more work between 2025 and 2026.
Chapter 425’s character inking began on November 9, 2025 while it was sent on to Jump August 11, 2026, a total of 9 months passing.
Chapter 426’s background inking, the final process, was done on March 13th and it is now sent to Jump after 5 months.
Even before announcing the official release date for the 2026 batch, Togashi had already sent Chapter 421 to Shonen Jump on May 26th.
For the next 3 months, Togashi would send in 5 more chapters.
Fans can expect that the next batch release will be in the next 4 months after Chapter 430’s manuscript has been completed.
With at least two gaps established “character inking”, “background inking” and “manuscript completion”, we can expect Chapter 430 to be shipped by December and result in a February or March 2027 batch release.
However, if the 2-week gap between chapters being sent to Jump continues, we could get Chapter 430 by late October the earliest, which would mean that the next batch will be announced for a December or January release the soonest.
This already confirms that the second batch will not be continuous as Chapter 419 is coming on August 31, 2026 and the batch will end with Chapter 420 on September 7th, by which time Togashi would likely send the manuscript for Chapter 427.
Even then, the time of wait will be much shorter than the gap between the 2024 and 2026 batches.
Togashi has also confirmed that inking for Chapter 433 has started on August 3rd.
There will be a likely year gap for the third batch, which will finish its first step of “character inking” by around early 2027, which could mean that Hunter x Hunter is still set on its yearly release schedule of 10 chapters.
