The spoilers for Jujutsu Kaisen chapter 257 are out and boy, were they HUGE!

Not only did Yuji give us hope to non-Sukuna fans that he’d atleast be alive, but he’s also connected to Sukuna on a more personal level than you think!

The fandom has been theorizing that Sukuna had a twin whom he devoured in his mother’s womb back in the Heian era and some fans thought that twin was Yuji’s soul.

But it turns out that it was his father, Jin Itadori, instead!

That’s right! In a brief flashback in chapter 257, Uraume asks Sukuna about Yuji and his identity, and Sukuna says that Jin Itadori, Yuji’s father, was actually his twin back in the Heian era and ate him in their mother’s womb just to not starve to death.

After that, the twin’s soul went through cycles. And years later, Kenjaku (in Kaori Itadori’s body) humped Jin Itadori, who is the reincarnation of Sukuna’s twin. That process led to the birth of Yuji, who is revealed to be Sukuna’s nephew.

This caused such a commotion on social media, prompting fans to say this was one of the best chapters in Jujutsu Kaisen, period!

And rightfully so, because this chapter answered so many questions fans had for years, even apart from the Twin theory, like how strong Yuji is compared to Sukuna, Gojo, and the others, can Yuji perform techniques that Sukuna has? How well can he use them? And so on.

But this revelation takes the cake, as fans see Yuji in a completely different light.

The foreshadowing of Sukuna having a twin comes from an old Buddhist tale that has another version of Sukuna.

In this story about a pair of twins called Prince Oousu and Prince Takeru, that Sukuna is said to represent. Takeru the younger brother was ordered by his father to teach Oousu some manners when he began acting out.

However, even the King feared Takeru’s bad temperament, and for good reason! Because instead of simply teaching his brother, Takeru ended up killing Oousu.

Similarly, Sukuna killed his twin in order to not starve to death and retain his strength.

People thought Yuji would end up being the twin but Yuji being born as a result of Kenjaku and Sukuna gives all the more reason why the young sorcerer began his journey to search for Sukuna’s fingers in the first place.

I mean, it ain’t an accident that one of them was found in his school.
