Jujutsu Kaisen Author Reveals TENSE Relationship Between Satoru Gojo and the Gojo Clan
Akutami’s latest illustrations have revealed one surprising detail about Gojo’s early life that explains why the Gojo Clan was so absent from the story.

In the leadup to the Hidden Inventory movie released on May 30, 2025, on May 28, 2025, Gege Akutami released multiple sketches that revealed more information about Gojo’s past not covered in the manga or anime.
Gojo’s Coming of Age Ceremony
As a teen, Satoru Gojo attended Jujutsu Tech privately, meaning without his clan’s support or endorsement, so that his family would no longer meddling with his life, as revealed in a Q&A.
This act was interpreted or even spread around by the other two of the Big Three Sorcerer Clans and Jujutsu Headquarters as a rift being formed between Satoru and the Gojo clan.
Considering that Gojo possessed both the Limitless and Six Eyes, he was the cornerstone of modern Jujutsu society and so that rift would be exploited by the Zenin and Kamo clans as a way to weaken the Gojo Clan politically.
Not wanting this outcome, the Gojo Clan made Gojo take the Genpuku Ceremony, a coming of age ceremony for boys around the ages of 13-17, at the Gojo Clan Estate and with the presence of the other two clans.
During this ceremony, Naoya Zenin, who was a year younger than Satoru, was confirmed to be present.
By conducting this ceremony, the Gojo clan publicly recognized Gojo not only as an adult but a full-fledged member of their clan.
This way, when Satoru would go on living in Jujutsu Tech by himself or going on missions, his family would not bother him and, in turn, the other clans will not try to target the Gojo Clan.
This lore drop explains how exactly Satoru became independent from the Gojo clan, who were completely absent from the main story.
Geto Starting Life in Jujutsu Tech
Suguru Geto was on the opposite end, being from a simple family from the countryside.
Geto entered the dorm before Gojo and Shoko came to Tokyo.
We see an image of Geto unpacking his things while calling his mother.
In the main story, we only hear of Geto’s parents when we learn he had killed them after his spiral into despair from Riko Amanai’s death during the Hidden Inventory Arc.
Some More High School Pictures
We get more sketches of the trio, particularly when together, we see how tall Geto (180 cm or 5’11 ft) and Gojo (190 cm or 6’3 ft)Â are compared to Shoko, who is actually fairly tall herself by the time she was an adult.
Shoko does not like standing in between them, hence her expression.
This is also a reference to Chapter 233 during the Shinjuku Showdown Arc where Sukuna summoned Agito and by standing between Agito and Mahoraga, Sukuna looked like a “lost alien”, which in turn is a reference to the radish head alien child in the manga “Gantz” that also got lost on Earth.
There are also more sketches of the trio together, such as Gojo and Geto surprised to see Shoko smoke for the first time, as well as Gojo showing off a scooter he owns but lacks the license to drive.
Riko Amanai’s Middle School Entrance Ceremony
We also have one sketch featuring Riko Amanai and her maid Kuroi during the former’s middle school entrance ceremony.
More detail on Riko’s face as she smiles for the camera.
Toji and Kong
We see a sketch of Toji and Kong’s meal after their first mission together.
While Toji eats like a saiyan, Kong checks his wallet, likely indicating that he is the one to pay for their meal and it might be a big bill.
Shiu Kong was a South Korean man who acted as Toji Fushiguro’s handler for his sorcerer killing jobs, being a go-between for the man and the Time Vessel Association, which Kong was likely part of due to their wealth and for helping Suguru Geto take over the group after Toji’s death.
