JoJolion Gets An English Release After 15 Years
Two years after Steel Ball Run got its English translation, JoJolion will be having the same treatment.
On October 16, 2026, it has been announced that JoJolion, Part 8 of Jojo’s Bizarre Adventure would finally be getting an official English translation by Viz Media.
Fitting for the vibe of Morioh and JoJolion, this will be set for release on Summer 2027.
Previously on October 5, 2024, Viz announced that Steel Ball Run would receive an English release in Summer 2025, which began on May 27, 2025, meaning two years will pass between translated volume releases, similar to Part 6: Stone Ocean’s release from January 25, 2022 to December 2024, which coincides with the release of the Stone Ocean anime.
Of note, the Steel Ball Run anime came a year after Viz began translating Steel Ball Run.
JoJolion is set in the Steel Ball Run universe version of Morioh, Japan, where Josuke Higashikata exists as a fusion of Josefumi Kujo and this universe’s Yoshikage Kira, a descendant of Johnny Joestar and Rina Higashikata, as they solve the mystery behind their fusion and the mysterious Locacaca Fruit that can grant equivalent exchange.
About Jojo’s Bizarre Adventure
Jojo’s Bizarre Adventure (or Jojo’s for short) is a long-running action manga series written and illustrated by Hirohiko Araki for Shueisha since January 1, 1987.
As such, Jojo’s Bizarre Adventure has accumulated over 140 volumes as of September 17, 2026 and will reach a milestone total of 1,000 chapters by December 19, 2026, and has sold over 120 million copies in circulation by August 2023, making it one of the biggest manga franchises of all time.
Jojo’s Bizarre Adventure is the story of the entire Joestar family, spanning generations over two centuries, multiple countries, and even different universes.
Jojo’s Bizarre Adventure is divided into nine parts: Part 1: Phantom Blood (1987–1988), Part 2: Battle Tendency (1988–1989), Part 3: Stardust Crusaders (1989–1992), Part 4: Diamond Is Unbreakable (1992–1995), Part 5: Golden Wind (1995–1999), Part 6: Stone Ocean (1999–2003), Part 7: Steel Ball Run (2004–2011), Part 8: JoJolion (2011–2021), and Part 9: The JoJoLands (2023–present).
For its first six parts, Jojo’s Bizarre Adventures was serialized in Weekly Shonen Jump from 1987 to 2004, with the first 20 chapters of Steel Ball Run being weekly releases.
In 2005, Araki moved to Ultra Jump with a monthly release schedule for Part 7 onwards.
The current story, Part 9, remains in the Steel Ball Run universe, with Jodio Joestar in Hawaii and his delinquent misadventures with a gang going after mysterious Lava Rocks.
Although receiving an OVA adaptation of Stardust Crusaders by A.P.P.P. (Another Push Pin Planning) from 1993-1994, the series would be propelled into greater fame internationally with the release of the 2012 anime adaptation by David Productions (Fire Force, Undead Unluck), including the ongoing Steel Ball Run adaptation that began with the anime’s first special long episode on March 25, 2026.
