Hell’s Paradise Author Making a Return?
Jigokuraku’s author might have a new manga coming up. Will it succeed where Ayashimon failed?

On August 18 2025, it was announced that Yuji Kaku, mangaka of Hell’s Paradise: Jigokuraku and Ayashimon, has been “working and focusing on a single project for the past 6 months”.
Alongside this revelation, Kaku also intends to announce more information about the upcoming Hell’s Paradise Season 2 anime and the Hell’s Paradise video game very soon.
Previously, Kaku published a new manga, Ayashimon, which was released in Weekly Shōnen Jump from November 2021 to May 2022 and reach only 3 volumes.
Ayashimon is about Maruo Kaido, a regular human who encounters Urara, an oni yashimon, a kind of yōkai able to shapeshift into humans, chased by an ayashimon yakuza gang. When Maruo rescues her, Urara recruits him to her own gang.
Given how the previous series was axed, fans hope the new project will succeed where Ayashimon failed.
Kaku is most famous for his work, Hell’s Paradise: Jigokuraku, which compiled a total of 13 volumes consisting of 127 chapters, that were released from January 22, 2018 to January 25, 2021.
Released on Shonen Jump Plus, Hell’s Paradise: Jigokuraku is the story of Gabimaru, a ninja of Iwagakure, who, along with others convicts, is sent to the island of Kotaku, believed to hold the Elixir of Life but in reality is an island of monsters and religious belief, mixing heaven and hell.
Season 2 will be released on January 2026.
