Is Chihiro a Mikaboshi? Kagurabachi Chapter 122 Spoilers!
Judging from all the hints, was Chihiro actually the son of the Mikaboshi and Soga families?
In the previous Kagurabachi chapter, while his Sorcery Itazura is fully revealed to us, Togo Shiba is the only survivor of the Irishima Talks.
Kagurabachi Chapter 122 is titled, “Start”
This chapter has 19 pages.
Editor’s Note: “Some damned good Onigiri..!”
Kunishige’s Dream Sword
The chapter begins with Kunishige eating some onigiri made by Subaru Urita and being surprised that it is just ordinary but Urita says that because of how he made it, the perfect balance of pressure all in harmony with the air that goes into it, it would be foolish to call the onigiri he makes plain.
Kunishige read his book and remarked that it was all rubbish but Urita praises Kunishige for noticing the deception, saying he is a man easily spots the lies in others through his own achievements and work alone.
It was established in Chapter 115: “Swordsmith” that Urita intentionally wrote lies in his famous book to conceal his secrets.
However, it was not a complete waste as Kunishige’s attempt to untangle the lies allowed him to form his own logic, as the others, who Urita called “nobodies”, quit after reading it because they could not understand what was written while only refined swordsmiths remain.
And for Urita, this meant a peaceful world because there are fewer reckless and greedy swordsmiths in the industry mass-producing swords.
Kunishige humorously asks for a refund for the book but instead Urita gives him more onigiri, which Kunishige says evens out.
Urita says that a swordsmith of Kunishige’s level is a step away from gaining much fame and enough recognotiion that he does not have to worry about going hungry but Kunishige reveals why he never made being a swordsmith his career.
Because he is not a peace selling weapons that kill people.
His goal is to make a good sword, a “katana that protects people”.
Urita reminds him that if he cannot sustain himself, he will have no strength to pursue his dream.
And since Kunishige wants to make the world’s best katana and that involves many redos, Urita tells him to get money for it.
The Disgusting Demands of the Mikaboshi
March 20th
After the Conclusion of the Irishima Talks
“Shiba Tougo returned to the mainland carrying the six deceased corpses of the men who perished in duty.”
Ichiki asks for Shiba’s condition and we see him unconscious, severely injured with 20 fractures and severe internal organ damage.
He has recovered quickly to be healthy enough to testify thanks to the Sorcery Recovery Agency.
On the same day, 4PM
We get into a meeting with the Sorcery Bureau.
Three of the future members of the Kamunabi are members of the Bureau, including Kasen, the Director himself, Ichiki, one of the two advisers, and Izaru, another high-ranked Kamunabi member.
Izaru brings up the original demands of the Mikanoshi: the Datenseki from Irishima and the three prefectures: Tokyo, Chiba, and Kanagawa to be claimed by them.
However, they seem to have revised their demands after the battle. The final version goes as follows..
We get a flashback of Ariu sitting down and revising the Mikaboshi’s demands.
Ariu explains that the Soga cornered the Mikaboshi ancestors because of the Soga Princess’ prophecy accusing the clan of an unfounded “malice” and buried their island with Kurotsuchi
So the demands are the Datenseki and the Soga Princess.
The Bureau worries that because the Japanese system ties its survival on Soga Prophecy, society collapses altogether.
However…
It gets worse than that.
The Mikaboshi desire to gain the power of the Soga.
To completely destroy the Soga, the Soga Princess must bear the old king’s child.
That way, the power of Kurotsuchi and Prophecy will belong to the Mikaboshi and erase the humiliation imposed upon them by the Soga.
After this child is born, the Soga and their allies will be exterminated.
Yes, if Kunishige does not save Chiaki, this creepy old man would be Chihiro’s father.
The Giraffe Head Guy is concerned that the Mikaboshi even know about their underworld organization and that Japan calls
This has to do with the underworld boss from the start of the Seitei War Arc in Chapter 113: “Rock” being so reckless in sharing secret intel.
Furthermore, after she learned that the Irishima Talks have ended, she received a flood of visions and lost consciousness but has woken up now.
The prophecy is…”Hell is Arriving”.
This moment would probably bolster favor for a genocide of 200,000 people on Shokoku Island.
It’s Attack on Titan all over again, except Japan is Marley and the Mikaboshi are the Eldians.
Considering the precision of Prophecy, or rather the biases that make those visions self-fulfilling, we could see a twist regarding Chihiro’s past.
At the end of Chapter 112: “Future”, Akemura Soga sees a blood-soaked baby.
What if Akemura found his nephew among the royals he killed and that this boy was not Kunishige’s son with Chiaki but from either the old King or Ariu himself?
Kaichi (Demon Monster) and Flame Bone Are Related?
The Japanese government insists that they will not abide by these demands and have made plans on the Counter Sorcery Army that they have made for the past two years.
This is the predecessor organization of the Kamunabi.
Its members include 17-year old Soshiro Azami, who might have been ranked Colonel by this point or in the future, as well as Kudo.
The other Sorcery Bureau members insist that with the loss of a one of a kind talent like Hiroto Soga, they have no real countermeasures against the Mikaboshi as he could silence a powerful Sorcery Clan by himself.
The strongest team made up of men of his caliber was utterly crushed by the prince of the enemy faction with him showing no visible injuries whatsoever.
This confirms that Soga and Shiba are close in terms of talent in spite of their youth at this time, which could be attributed to their impressive Sorcery and overall combat experience.
There are also five more Mikaboshi Guardians on the Prince’s level.
Basically the inverse of the Japanese situation: strongest team vs strongest team but the Japanese side failed.
The Bureau suggests the use of Demon Monster (Kaichi) but the other members note that Kaichi has limited uses and the Mikaboshi can regenerate, so it will be ineffective unless used at the right time.
Kaichi is confirmed to be a secret weapon of sorts and judging by the comparison with Flame Bone of the Starving, it could be a literal weapon instead of a sorcery.
However, during the first arc, Kaichi’s activation was dependent on the user making a hand sign with both hands.
Kazane Machi was the user of the present day, so the Machi Clan is the holder of this ability, just as the Kagari Clan, where Hiyuki belongs to, holds this power.
As for Flame Bone of the Starving, the Kagari Clan have yet to find a master for the weapon and in the wrong hands, it could scorch the whole land in to a wasteland.
This means Hiyuki is a generational talent and was the only one who could handle such power.
Meanwhile, Kunishige visits Shiba, having heard from Hasumi about the situation.
Kunishige spots Mashiro’s katana, recalling Shiba’s request to make it for him, making Kunishige realize that Mashiro is dead and given that he made a sword for him, he feels the pain.
Back to the meeting, Hasumi reminds the Bureau that even Japan’s best were defeated by only a mere showing of the Datenseki’s power.
However, Hasumi makes the point that the Datenseki is the Mikaboshi’s only actual advantage.
Ichiki wonders if the solution is to find a workaround to use the Datenseki’s power and the other Sorcery Bureau members know the path forward.
Given they have failed to comprehend it in 2 years while a certain young man took only a glance and a few minutes, it is clear now that Hasumi is taking a gamble on this initiative.
Shiba asks how much did Hasumi tell Kunishige, to which the latter said he knew everything.
That also includes the sordid details behind Chiaki’s future if nothing is done.
