Konohamaru BECOMES THE 9TH HOKAGE! Boruto: Two Blue Vortex Chapter 38 Full Spoilers!

Wait, is Konohamaru becoming the 9th Hokage about to cause the END of ninja as we know it?

u/Raikriii x Boruto: Two Blue Vortex © 2023 Mikio Ikemoto, Masashi Kishimoto/Shueisha

In the previous Boruto: Two Blue Vortex chapter, Sarada begins her fight against Code and Hidari inside the Human God Trees’ hideout.

Boruto: Two Blue Vortex Chapter 38 is titled, “Follow Your Heart”

This chapter has 41 pages.

The colored cover shows Mitsuki with light blue background like his hair and clothing and yellow text like his eyes.

Page 1 is the sneak peek showing Kawaki’s visit to the Daikokuten Dimension as he speaks to the unconscious Naruto and Hinata.

Instead of sentimentally bonding with his adopted parents, Kawaki raves on about how the Otsutsuki are a threat to the world that must be wiped out at all costs, an obsessive fixation with destroying threats to the people he loves yet is unable or unwilling to suffer through with them and bond even through the pain as he fears losing them.

He talks directly to the Seventh Hokage, telling him that both he and Boruto have become full Otsutsuki and that the reason he is in Daikokuten is not just because it is a safe place.

Kawaki recalls how 3 years ago, he killed Boruto when the latter was overtaken by Momoshiki, right in front of Naruto’s eyes.

He seled Naruto and Hinata here so that they would never see him kill Boruto a second time.

Although admitting it is a cruel thought, Kawaki insists that he will kill Boruto permanently, so he leaves the Daikokuten through a portal under the cube he stands on but not before saying Himawari will be the only one left behind.

Kawaki appears outside Himawari’s house.

If you recall in a Q&A, Ikemoto reveals that Himawari lives in the old Uzumaki household, separate from Kawaki as they are clearly not close anymore, which is sad since, especially in the anime, we saw how Kawaki and Himawari have quite the bond as siblings.

This is because Kawaki clearly feels guilty for taking away Boruto’s life and even the “duty” to murder Boruto is too overwhelming for him to think about it, which is why he is resolved to get it done regardless, to make the hard choice for his family.

Outside, he swears he will protect Himawari at all costs.

Back to the fight between Sarada, Code and Hidari, on the ground Sarada stands on, Hidari forms Claw Marks from which he sneaks behind Sarada but Code blocks the attack with his prosthetic right hand, telling him he will regret disobeying him.

But when Code attacks with his actual left clawed hand, it slips through Hidari’s body.

Code notes that all the Human God Trees are covered in his Claw Marks, so all of his attacks slip through them regardless and since Code primarily relies on taijutsu, this is a bad matchup.

While Hidari calls this funny, Code notes that Hidari’s torso and head are still exposed.

Suddenly, Sarada releases a Fireball Jutsu on Code, telling him that he was wide open to attack.

Via the Claw Marks, Code retreats to the nearby Daikokuten Cube, expressing how he should have just disabled Sarada’s legs and arms.

Meanwhile, Boruto searches for Sarada and since sensing her chakra will take some time, Koji asks Shikamaru how things are on his end.

Shikamaru reports that Furuta, the owner of the used bookstore, has agreed to cooperate, trying to keep Jura from returning to the hideout.

However, Shikamaru has another problem as Kobu is already onto him and asks to meet with him now.

Within the interrogation room, Kobu proposes replacing the Temporary 8th Hokage with Konohamaru Sarutobi.

Which does make a lot of sense due to Konohamaru’s lineage.

He is the grandson of the Third Hokage Hiruzen Sarutobi, student of the Seventh Hokage Naruto Uzumaki and since the Third Hokage is an “adopted” Senju as the disciple of the first two Hokage, this is in continuity of the Will of Fire.

Shikamaru is only the student of Asuma Sarutobi and the head of the Nara Clan, essentially a noble.

Meanwhile back to the fight, Hidari fights Sarada, who dodges and lands on the upper side of the cave wall, with Hidari coming out of the Claw Mark behind her and Code coming out of Hidari’s body, giving Sarada the chance to singe them both with Fireball Jutsu.

When Sarada lands next to the Daikokuten Cube, Code grabs her right arm with his left and her left leg with his right stump while Hidari lands on top of the Cube.

Back in the Leaf Village, Kobu presents the physical evidence in Nishi’s notebook which he lent to the Hokage, at that time.

There are some torn pages near the end, which there are traces of writing containing the passcode for Boruto’s handcuffs when Shikamaru had Mitsuki free him in Chapter 14: “Duty”.

They’re numbers that match the passcode for the handcuffs perfectly!

Kobu plans to seize more actual control of Konoha, and is just using Konohamaru as a puppet for his plans

Koji explains to Shikamaru that Kobu and the other Five Nations’ true goal is dismantle the shinobi villages and plan to use any means to get to that end result, including installing a puppet regime and to use Shikamaru’s case to show how untrustworthy shinobi are.

Koji says it is no use trying to kill Kobu again as that would hasten the downfall of all shinobi.

Boruto locates Sarada’s chakra and Koji wants to give a warning before he leaves, saying that Momoshiki will manifest again if he loses his cool.

While Momoshiki is excited about the news, Koji does not elaborate on what could happen next, saying that Boruto should just follow his heart.

Code taunts Sarada and prepares to gouge out her eyes but Hidari stops him.

Is part of Sasuke still there?

With that distraction, Boruto teleports in, points his sword on Code’s yapping mouth and slashes through the left side of his mouth, leaving a massive gash.

Boruto: Two Blue Vortex Chapter 39 will be released on November 20, 2026.
