Shin vs Tanabata! Sakamoto Days Chapter 259 Spoilers!

While Shin is indirectly forming his cult of followers, he faces off against the last Order member left, Tanabata, who reveals his own reasons for joining Slur

SAKAMOTO DAYS © 2020 by Yuto Suzuki/SHUEISHA Inc.

In the previous Sakamoto Days, Tenkyu and Natsuki defeat Kippei after a tough fight.

Days 259 is titled, “Bandman”

This chapter has 19 pages.

Editor’s note: “Natsuki and Tenkyu’s combo play is…!!!”

The chapter begins with Kippei knocked out and Shiina rushing to her older twin brother.

Shiina prepares to go after Mafuyu, who had just recovered.

As Mafuyu readies to go after her and Kippei, Tenkyu shoots an arrow between them.

Mafuyu wonders who the newcomer is while Natsuki asks why Tenkyu saved him.

Tenkyu himself is unsure but he believes that by imitating Shin, he can understand why he chose not to kill him.

This is what he wanted to see Shin again for and he slowly realizes that as he talks with Natsuki and Mafuyu that Shin does not actually hate him.

Tenkyu also remarks that not being able to kill someone makes him feel restless.

It is because out of all the Al-Kamar orphans, Tenkyu might be the most indoctrinated by the pure killer mindset, having been made so as a child.

More specifically, it was Sakamoto’s influence that tamed his resentment for an otherwise ruthless, callous killer like Tenkyu, who seems to be someone who was simply shaped as a killer without any morals, unlike his leader Kei Uzuki, whose trauma reinforced the darker side of himself.

Will Hiruhiko from Kagurabachi have a similar growth arc?

Frustrated by Tenkyu’s confusion, Shiina tells him to kill them already.

Then Kippei rises up nonchalantly, saying that he let his guard down.

Kippei then directs his attention to Natsuki, who is shocked by how tough Kippei is and more imperatively, that they are out of moves.

However, as it turns out, Kippei does not want to fight.

He only wants to eat at the JCC cafeteria before going home.

To Kippei, having his life spared by an enemy is the greatrest defeat an assassin can face.

By being spared, the fight is over.

Furthermore, Kippei decided to flick off his killer switch anyway, so he is done fighting.

Shiina is so roused for a fight she is even willing to fight her own brother.

Kippei reflects on the relationship between the Seba brothers, of how protective they are of each other, and how even Tenkyu was influenced by Shin.

Seeing him as an amazing guy, Kippei also wants to meet Shin, seeing as how he changed the three men who fought him.

After 20 chapters since Chapter 239: “Tinderbox”, we finally get back to the fight between Shin and Tanabata, who is the last Order member standing, and they fight on top of a billboard.

However, Tanabata seems to be ignoring him and simply humming, playing his song.

The song in his mind is roughly translated as follows:

He dropped his sandwich
He wonder about 3 seconds rule
“Ah, should I pick it up?… Nevermind .”
He left his stomach empty
He missed the train
He was chased by a dog
“Never give up” said to himself
But he gave up as soon as he said

-Chorus-

That weak, pathetic youngster
Just the wind can take him down
But when he look at the sky
For no reason, he smiled.

That weak, pathetic youngster
He just realised
The dog that chased him
It could be not a dog

Shin verbally points out that it sounds bad.

This makes Tanabata mad as he points out that people without imagination lack empathy.

Interesting perspective coming from a roughened assassin from the Order.

He and Kanaguri should get some coffee together.

However, Tanabata is also a maniac as he explains his own reason for siding with Slur.

Songwriting requires powerful inspiration.

A person’s death is the greatest emotional movement.

Slur’s distribution of so many guns has resulted in much death and suicide that immersed Tanabata so much into songwriting his fingers were worn out.

Angered by his statements, Shin punches Tanabata, who blocks with his guitar and sends him to the back of the billboard.

But as Shin punches through Tanabata, the latter gains a boost in inspiration.

What ability will Tanabata show in the next chapter.

Editor’s note: “Shin vs Tanabata…the battle begins!!”

Sakamoto Days Chapter 260 will be released on May 25, 2026.
