In the previous Kagurabachi chapter, Samura heals his eyes, an act of character development, to finally see his daughter for the first time and the future moving forward.

Kagurabachi Chapter 86 is titled, “Indication”

This chapter has 19 pages.

The chapter begins with Chihiro struggling to stand still and see as his vision blurs and he spots Iori.

Chihiro notes that Nishiki is at full power and he was able to demonstrate Enten’s power by using Tobimune’s Suzaku fire to land a crack on an Enchanted Blade.

But Chihiro wants more power to be sure, meaning that what he did in Chapter 84: “The Wounded” was insufficient for the mission.

Suddenly, Samura catches Chihiro as he falls, activates Suzaku and heals his wounds.

Samura admits defeat thanks to Chihiro’s efforts and Chihiro’s willingness to save Samura, even if it killed him.

Samura sees the lesson about looking into the future, rather than living with guilt.

Kunishige chose not to blind himself of the future out of fear but work with his son, his treasure and future, to build an Enchanted Blade that can destroy Enchanted Blades, Enten.

Enten has the ability to absorb the abilities of the other Blades, which is needed to end the curse of the Shinuchi.

However, Chihiro says that he is far from perfecting the technique yet promises to improve.

Mentally, Samura chooses to follow Kunishige’s guidance.

Verbally, he expresses confidence in Chihiro’s abilities.

Chihiro admits that his improved White Iai Purity Style came from watching Iori when she reawakened her memories in Chapter 69: “The Guy With The Scar” when she reveals her swordsmanship to save her classmate Ikura.

Samura expresses surprise that Iori has been practicing the sword ever since, which Iori confirms flippantly and is flabbergasted by Samura’s first acknowledgement of her upon regaining his sight.

Samura is definitely overwhelmed with embarrassment and then Iori punches him in the gut as she cries, upset that she had lost so many bad memories and says she will not forgive him.

This reminds me of Naruto punching his dad, the Fourth Hokage Minato, when they met in his subconscious.

Samura apologizes and the two share a hug, while Chihiro watches on, clearly missing his own father.

Carried by Moku, Ikura also watches this tender moment, comedically reminding himself that, yes, he is out of place.

Sumi says that if not for Ikura, things would have turned out differently and that Samura would not have been saved or reunited with his daughter, with Moku praising him as an MVP warrior.

Samura apologizes to the Masumi.

Rou says that he has a lot to say to Samura but Iori already beat him to the punch so he is fine.

Before they can move forward, Samura says that even if he entrusts Chihiro with the task of destroying the Shinuchi, the Hishaku still have the other Enchanted Blades.

Since we only have six Enchanted Blades left, let us recap:

On our side, we have Chihiro’s Enten, Samura’s Tobimune

Within Kamunabi confinement is the wicked Shinuchi of the Sword Saint.

Hiruhiko has Kumeyuri.

The other two Enchanted Blades are also said to be in Hishaku possession but since their Lifelong Contractors are still alive, they remain unusable.

But with the Hishaku invasion of the Kamunabi, we might have another deadlock, except the Shinuchi is the most powerful Enchanted Blade, especially with its Malediction that killed 200,000 people in the Seitei War 18 years ago.

Samura also mentions the Kamunabi Spy in the Hishaku’s possession but he avoided dealing with the three Hishaku Enchanted Blades and the Spy that he was wary of due to his deal with the Hishaku.

Rou tells Samura that they have to hurry because the Hishaku have attacked Kumanabi Headquarters.

Samura is surprised, saying that the Hishaku attacked without any Enchanted Blades to kill the Sword Saint.

Samura realizes that the Hishaku were trying to remove him from the picture to begin with or perhaps Yura predicted everything that was going to happen.

Chihiro tells Samura that he hopes to get Samura’s help, with Samura suggesting that Chihiro use Aka to heal everyone together with Samura.

Chihiro declares that the two Enchanted Blade users will clean up house by taking care of the Hishaku, and the Enchanted Blades.

All three of the Masumi make fun of Samura finally be willing to work with others.

We then suddenly cut to an unusual flashback as the art style drastically changes to something much darker.

We see the Enchanted Blade users come together during the Seitei War, with a floating ruined tower in the middle.

Prominently shown here are Uruha to the left and Samura’s hand to the right side with Crow feathers.

We see the Sword Saint in the present being monitored in the lowest floor of Kamunabi Headquarters, with some of the watchers wondering if the Sword Saint is aware of what is happening.

The Earlobe Kamunabi tells the employee not to get distracted and monologues about how the pillars act as life-force maintaining devices, which provides anything alive within the area the minimum when it comes to nutritional value.

Just enough that they do not have the will to end their own lives.

Within this prison, the Sword Saint never moved a muscle and in the 18 years since his imprisonment, he has only said one word, which he uttered this year, at 3:47 PM on November 8th during the Rakuzaichi Arc.

“Magatsumi”.

Suddenly, the Sword Saint moved, saying that the time has come.

He senses his imminent release.

The chapter ends when Samura offers to transport everyone to Tokyo with Crow.

Kagurabachi Chapter 87 will be released on July 21, 2025.
