Samura Opens His Eyes For the First Time! Kagurabachi Chapter 85 Spoilers!
Afraid of the future that is the present, Samura finally faces the truth, with eyes wide open for his daughter.

In the previous Kagurabachi chapter, Chihiro manages to nick the blade of Tobimune by using his Aka to absorb and recreate Suzaku’s offensive flames.
Kagurabachi Chapter 85 is titled, “Wide Open”
This chapter has 19 pages.
Editor’s note: “The screams of the young ones is —”
The chapter begins with the scene from Chapter 73: “Morning Gray”, where Samura stands outside Iori’s room.
We return to the present where Chihiro confirms that he really does have the ability to break an Enchanted Blade.
Meanwhile, Iori turns to her father, calling out to him.
Samura heals the crack on Tobimune with Suzaku and then activates Crow to continue the fight in an impressive double page spread showing the two fighters on each side of the snowy battlefield and on the black pages as we see close ups of their eyes.
The area is surrounded by many Crow feathers and that is because Aka has activated Tobimune’s Crow, doubling the number of feathers and obscuring both sides’ visions but also giving more movement space for Chihiro.
Chihiro realizes that Suzaku has no real limits. If he could heal the Enchanted Blade, Samura could have also healed his own eyes but chooses not to see.
Chihiro activates Kuro and the narration states that with Crow and Chihiro’s Kuro, two techniques of Black color, the two men fill the space they occupy to the brim with Spirit Energy, “a completely matte black space of mingling goldfish and feathers.”
Chihiro also has Aka’s copy of Crow, allowing both men to use the feathers.
Chihiro pushes on with his intent to show a new path for Samura.
Both men clash in mid-air as Samura calls out Chihiro for bearing through the pain of bearing an Enchanted Blade.
Emotional over the continued struggle, Samura says that he and the Enchanted Blades are things of the past meant to be disposed of so that Chihiro and the new generation do not suffer because of the past, resulting in Samura cutting down Chihiro.
As Samura floats in the air, Iori watches on with a concerned look over her face.
Samura tells Chihiro to live for himself while he dies.
As Samura comes down to recover Enten, Chihiro appears behind Samura, still gripping the Enchanted Blade with his bleeding left hand
Iori runs through the forest, thinking about she always wanted to be like her father, someone who protects the things important to her, wanting to fight with him.
As Samura is prepared to unsheathe the Tobimune once more, Samura sees a vision of his ex-wife, Inori, who tells him to face the future.
Samura insists the future he saw is one where Iori suffers but Inori adds that he must see the future properly.
That is when we return to the flashback, this time with Samura making a difference choice as he comforts his crying daughter, thanking her for protecting him all this time.
The chapter ends with Samura finally opening his eyes for the first time since blinding himself and he sees the face of his grown-up daughter.
Editor’s note: “Those eyes once closed, now truly open.”.
Kagurabachi Chapter 86 will be released on July 14, 2025.
