Wait, is Enjin Rudo’s REAL BROTHER? Gachiakuta Chapter 165 Spoilers!
After all this time, we finally get the Enjin flashback and not only is it a deep dive into what makes Enjin the man he is today but also ties him deeper to Rudo’s life than we realize.
In the previous Gachiakuta chapter, Mymo reveals the existence of the sixth Watchman Series, with hints its user might be none other than Enjin himself.
Gachiakuta Chapter 165 is titled, “A Name”
This chapter has 15 pages.
The chapter is a whole flashback.
We begin with a young boy being rescued on a rainy day.
A man with an umbrella covers him.
But from behind, a giant Trash Beast is impaled by earthen spikes.
This looks all too familiar.
A boy is spotted in the middle of the Ground, a world of pure trash, and a man with an umbrella, with the intution to be in the right place and right time, comes to his rescue.
In a cave, they take shelter and the man offers the boy water but the boy thinks the man will sell him, as most people who help him always have some ulterior motive.
The man is repulsed by the boy’s lack of manners.
The boy tells him to sell him to someone who will give him a name that is shorter and easier for people to remember.
As it turns out, his name is “Endoareilychima Illastsalli Machiada Leotrago Sphidi Pharjin”
A combination from the names of his parents and all the adults in the orphanage and they all tacked the names together like a “modded car”.
This could also be a product of forgetfulness, so in the end, everyone simply put all of the names that got mixed up together but this also meant that the boy was easily forgotten.
With everyone who remembered this name dead, the boy simply has nicknames and still no idea about his origins.
The rescuer suggests that the boy choose his own name but the boy says it is not worth the effort.
The man notices that the boy has tattoos, the marks of a slave.
However, that is not the case.
The boy escaped before he could be sold into slavery.
The orphanage actually gathers children to be sold as products and so they brand all the children with tattoos so the orphanage gets their return of investment when the kids mature and fetch a decent price in the slave markets.
Or rather than directly selling the children, the orphanage bides its time.
It would not care who takes the children because some can pretend to be interested parents and simply traffic the children.
But more recently, the orphanage did end up as a slave market.
It is a terrifying system and another aspect of Gachiakuta’s discourse on trash and humanity.
The boy dwells on his guilt, being responsible for turning the orphanage into a slave market.
Because his housemates kept fighting amongst themselves, he ran away but when he got into one of the cities, he found a rich man who decided to make the orphanage part of his slavery business.
A Connection (Connect Necklace) destroyed the boy’s life.
The boy with a name everyone forgets.
The boy who ran away because of the madness of his world.
Because he chose to connect, he destroyed the lives of others and he felt guilt ever since, a guilt that keeps him from being human and having a name.
But the man offers to give the boy a name.
Enjin.
The first and name syllables of his long name, which the man has forgotten.
The theme of names and how Enjin met Rudo for the first time with an umbrella up makes it clear that Kei Urana wrote Enjin based on Bleach and Kisuke Urahara.
Names are crucial for identity and the Zanpakuto weapons that Shinigami wield.
This does tie back to the idea of Enjin’s name being like a “modded car”, in English it sounds like engine but in the more forgotten Japanese language of Gachiakuta’s post-apocalyptic world, it is a name that means “one who connects”.
A name that will not only erase a tacked on forgettable name.
But also a name that will erase all bad connections with the good ones Enjin will choose with full responsibility this time.
The concept of connection and of being will no longer hurt Enjin.
It will be his strength.
We then see the true face of the man who rescued him.
A lot of his features already look familiar.
The most striking thing is that he has all Six of the Watchman Series:
- The Coat Mishra (Taste), now owned by Zodyl Typhon (who seeks to Take Down the Sphere)
- The Boots (Smell), now owned by Amo Empool (who seeks Love)
- The Book (Sight), now owned by Tamsy Caines (who seeks to Break Rudo or some other obsession)
- The Necklace Connect (Hearing), once owned Gountess (who seeks to Protect Loved Ones like Too Lily), now owned, for a time, by Mymo (who seeks Godhood)
- The Gloves 3R (Touch), now owned by Rudo Surebrec (who seeks Revenge)
- The Umbrella Umbreak (Intuition), now owned by Enjin
He also seems to have white or light-colored hair and could very well be…
Alto Surebrec.
Enjin at this time might be around 10 years old or so and Enjin is currently 28 years old, one of the older adults of the series, so by this time, Rudo would either not yet be born
Was the man referring to his other son then, possibly Tamsy?
Tamsy is 23 years old in the present day, so he would be quite young by this point and still go nameless.
Through Enjin, the man sees the value in a name that is easy to remember, so he thanks Enjin.
Through Enjin, the man’s son
This could mean that Enjin might essentially be Rudo’s godfather by proxy or even an adopted older sibling.
A true sibling.
If Tamsy turns out to be the other son and the one Alto wanted to name, “a child” (meaning he could have had other children prior), then Tamsy’s wicked designs would make Enjin the better older brother, the better influence for Rudo.
Rather than be broken by Tamsy, Enjin will be the one to fill the void in Rudo’s heart, that “curse” inside him transformed into love.
After all, Rudo’s name in the Shona language means “love” and Urana might have done that on purpose.
The man brings a creature over to ride on, to bring Enjin to Alice Stilza, the aging doctor.
Since the man is driving the creature, he tells Enjin to take the umbrella.
Now we return to the present day.
With the umbrella that once belonged to the Watchman Series.
Or perhaps an ordinary umbrella made out of the love he has for his rescuer.
And now Enjin comes in to save his friend, his possible brother by proxy, Rudo, and maybe bring everything full circle.
Gachiakuta Chapter 166 will be released on April 22, 2026.
