In the previous Kagurabachi chapter, the Seitei War Arc begins as we see Shiba interrogate a yakuza gang regarding the Datenseki.

Kagurabachi Chapter 114 is titled, “Rokuhira Kunishige”

This chapter has 19 pages

The chapter cover features Mashiro Shuji, who was introduced in the previous chapter as Shiba’s junior and a sorcerer for hire.

The chapter begins with Shiba eating yakisoba, discussing the Datenseki contained in a research facility on the outskirts of Tokyo:

Mashiro also calls out Shiba for slurping down his noodles so loudly in spite of being a government agent.

He is also unsure about Shiba’s friend, Kunishige but Shiba reveals that the sword he gave Mashiro was forged by Kunishige.

We get a little backstory on their childhood friendship.

When Kunishige was 12, he had a brutal apprenticeship as a swordsmith that made him nearly want to quit.

Ever since, Kunishige would often sneak out and go to Shiba’s house.

Furthermore, when Kunishige messed up, the swordsmith master would throw stuff at him, such that Kunishige would sometimes come home with metal on his head that causes him to bleed out.

The reason people have not heard of Kunishige is because he does not sell swords.

Mashiro remarks that since Kunishige is Shiba’s friend, then he might also be a freak.

Shiba does point out that Kunishige never really leaves his forge, so he might as well starve to death.

Shiba even checks his refrigerator and sees how poorly stocked the eggs, meat and vegetables are, sighing how hopeless his friend is.

Mashiro squeals as he finds Kunishige lying face down on the floor, thinking he is dead.

Only to immediately be disproven as the man rises up, asking who is in front of him.

Shiba comes in and asks what happened to Kunishige, who simply replies that he just passed out from hunger, as if it is a normal thing, all the while he is leaning on the floor casually.

Kunishige, however, immediately rises out of hunger as he smells the scent of Yakisoba from Shiba, except Shiba already ate all of it but Shiba promises to feed him after Kunishige looks into the Datenseki.

Mashiro worries about Shiba handing Japan’s most vital resource to a random stranger.

And immediately, Kunishige throws it down and breaks the glass vial, making Mashiro nervous but not Shiba.

Kunishige remarks that the rock is quite durable, which was why he threw it without thinking, as if to prove its worth

Mashiro warns Kunishige not to hit it with Spirit Energy but Kunishige already knows and his eyes analyze the tiny rock.

Kunishige notes that the Datenseki’s particles have a faint glow about them and channeling any amount of Spirit Energy would charge the particles and cause them to explode, with even the tiny chunk in Kunishige’s fingers being enough to kill a whole human being.

Mashiro is shocked that Kunishige could figure all of it out instantly while scientists  spent time and experimentation to reach what Kunishige figured out in seconds.

Shiba gloats over his friend, with Mashiro acknowledging that Shiba has a good eye for friends.

Kunishige asks how he came across the Datenseki and Shiba explains that it came from the prophecy of Chiaki Soga.

Chiaki is the older sister of the future Sword Saint Akemura Soga and the future wife of Kunishige and therefore the mother of Chihiro.

It seems Chihiro’s mother has the Sorcery of prophecy and Kunishige already knows her and Akemura personally, with Kunishige showing interest in hearing her name.

Kunishige lights the stone with a low flame from his lighter, which does not cause any reaction from the stone.

Shiba suggests that Kunishige join them to go to Tokyo to tell the scientists how to use the Datenseki.

Kunishige refuses, even when Shiba suggests this will give him fame or a chance to see Chiaki.

But what wins Kunishige over is Shiba treating him to lunch.

Mashiro is still in disbelief that they will take Kunishige with them, seeing him as a barbarian and that his special eyes are not enough proof of his merit.

Meanwhile at the Datenseki laboratory, Hasumi of the government’s Sorcery Bureau waits nervously, knowing Shiba is clearly making some sort of move.

It seems the Sorcery Bureau might be above the future Kamunabi but lack the means to actually control the activities of Sorcerers, who mostly thrive in the criminal underworld.

Talking to someone, Hasumi explains that the facility is safe as it is protected by a force field.

Hasumi remarks that the scientists are being desperate to consult a swordsmith.

Being a country that loves swords, Japan has over 2,000 swordsmiths, including the no-names.

The highest level of excellence in Japan comes in the form of three artisans called the Living Treasures.

However, for this man, being a Living Treasure is a side job as his main job is to be a sushi chef and he took the day off to come to this facility.

As it turns out, this swordsmith is the sixth Enchanted Blade Bearer introduced in the entire series.

Subaru Urita, the one-eyed sushi chef who only cares about making sushi.

We have a hint of him when Shiba was eating sushi and he was name-dropped throughout the series.

He is also chronologically the first of the Six Enchanted Blade Bearers to be introduced in the Seitei War Arc.

Editor’s note: “A sushi chef.”

Kagurabachi Chapter 115 will be released on March 16, 2026.
