The Hishaku Make Their Move! Kagurabachi Chapter 48 Spoilers!!
A new sorcerer emerges and will prove to be a far more difficult foe than anticipated
In the previous Kagurabachi chapter, Chihiro manages to meet up with Uruha Youji, the former Wielder of the Kumeyuri, who turns out to be a big fanboy of Kunishige.
Chapter 48 is titled, “Kokugoku Steam Squad”
The chapter begins with Chihiro telling Uruha that the passengers have already moved away. With one more train stop, they can make everyone else in the train leave so that they will be left alone on the way to the “Temple of Senkutsu”.
Chihiro also insists that Uruha stop using honorifics and we see a picture of Uruha and Kunishige, where Kunishige’s shirt reads “記念サツエイ”, ‘kinen satsuei’, more than likely meaning “commemorative photograph”..
Uruha asks Chihiro if he can hold the Enten, which Hakuri interprets as Uruha trying to ask if he could hold a baby.
Chihiro is surprised that Uruha does not suspect his identity but Uruha enthusiastically proclaims that Chihiro is not just Kunishige’s son but the very BEING of Kunishige
Hakuri whispers to Chihiro that the man might be a little crazy, which Chihiro takes note of immediately.
Uruha rubs and pats the sheathed Enten, remarking that this is a reunion and now he understood why the former wielders had to be hidden away, even to separate from Kunishige.
Uruha is happy to know that Kunishige was not alone the entire time, which made Chihiro crack a smile.
Chihiro recalls how he lost his father 3 years ago and how the Hishaku are planning to kill every former wielder to use the Enchanted Blades.
Chihiro explains the process in the Kokugoku, where Sojo made weapons made from Datenseki were made as a way to replicate the Enchanted Blades for a one-time use.
However, those weapons would drain the user’s life in exchange.
Chihrio was surprised to learn that these dangerous “Enchanted Blade Equivalents” were mass-produced to this degree and that they would be used to destroy the Sansou or the Fortresses that store the Enchanted Blades kept by the Kamunabi.
Hakuri tries to visualize the hierarchy of the Enchanted Blade Equivalents but Uruha corrects him, suggesting that because the Hishaku failed in their plan to destroy the Sanso, then Sojo’s weapons are not as big of a threat, on top of Chihiro having his Enten and Hiyuri’s Flame Bone, which is the only known counter to the Enchanted Blade.
We then cut to the Kokugoku Hot Springs, the Sanso Uruha was kept in, and the High-ranking Kamunabi Sorcerer with the bandana from last chapter still being alive.
Only four people were heavily injured from the attack but they managed to drive the Hishaku away.
Uruha in the train goes on to say that the Kamunabi guard are excellent.
From outside, the guards see a smoke signal that confirms Uruha’s safety.
The guards turn their attention to the enemy sorcerer and after a brutal fight, they manage to tie up one of the enemy sorcerers while cutting down the rest.
With that taken care of, the Bandana Kamunabi member heads for the station after learning that Uruha has gained new bodyguards.
Meanwhile the train makes its first stop and Uruha notices that no one seems to be around. While seated, Uruha turns around and sees something that he recognizes what is out there.
A mysterious man is by a vending machine getting a canned drink and remarks that he enjoys the drink.
The man, Hiruhiko, tells his subordinate that the average sorcerer is not fit for the job and tells his minion, who uses an Enchanted Blde Equivalent, that he did a great job of eliminating the sorcerers.
The subordinate cautions Hiruhiko about facing off against Uruha’s newest bodyguard, who happens to be an Enchanted Blade wielder.
However, Hiruhiko is happy since after three years of “boring preparation”, his superior, Yura, gave him the go-signal to attack and the Hishaku can finally make their move.
As Hiruhiko is about to enter the train, we see the Bandana Sorcerer and his two comrades sitting down, except they have been killed.
We see Chihiro unsheathe the Enten and unleash the black goldfish, ending the chapter with the two men facing off.
The editor’s note says: “VS. A Hishaku.. Begin!”
