Is Monkey D. Dragon a SECRET GOD OF ONE PIECE?? One Piece Chapter 1175 Added Spoilers!
We are introduced to the RAREST type of Devil Fruits with this chapter: “Locked” God Fruits, which can only be fully activated when the user is of a certain lineage. Is it possible that some Fruits are locked behind the D Clan, such as Monkey D. Dragon and the Wind God Fruit?
Our early chapter spoilers for Chapter 1175: “Nidhogg” showed us the identity of Loki’s Devil Fruit, the Ryu Ryu no Mi, Model Nidhogg, the purple lightning dragon of Elbaph myth who also happens to be wielded by a God of War who clashed with Sun God Nika.
God Fruits Explained
We got some more clarification on the nature of Loki’s Devil Fruit.
In the early spoilers, we were told by Jarul that Loki was able to unlock the full power of the Nidhogg Fruit because Loki was an Ancient Giant, a lineage that is nearly gone except for the royalty of Elbaph, in which Loki is the sole survivor.
Especially with Oars Jr. gone, Loki is the sole Ancient Giant left.
However, there is something strange about this fruit gaining more power from a specific lineage.
Yes, Devil Fruits are Awakened when the user’s body catches up to the Devil Fruit.
Could it be that Loki’s Devil Fruit Awakened because of Loki’s strong Ancient Giant lineage?
This might not work because there would have been more Ancient Giants anyway.
So then this means that the Devil Fruit’s true nature is “locked behind” a requirement.
Something like the Gomu Gomu no Mi and how it was originally a Paramecia that turns the body rubbery but is unable to reveal its true nature as the reincarnation of Nika via the Mythical Zoan form without Luffy reaching a point of Awakening.
Perhaps in the Nika fruit’s case, the Awakening was the “lock” or perhaps it had to do with Luffy embodying the traits of Joy Boy himself, that or his death.
Imu is Also a God Fruit User
It is likely that Imu himself is a user of a Mythical Zoan Devil Fruit, possibly of the God of the Forest if we follow the “Four Gods of Shandia” concept (Rain, Sun, Wind and Forest).
Considering that Loki’s Devil Fruit controls lightning, he would be the Rain God.
Imu being God of the Forest ties into the creation of Devil Fruits, which explains why giving more of his essence or Haki to the Abyssal Covenant results in yokai forms that are Devil Fruit-like but do not follow the rules of the Devil Fruit, especially on being affected by seawater.
Speaking of this oversight of the rules, Loki’s Devil Fruit might also be special because he was somehow able to channel his lightning powers in Chapter 1142: “What I’m Afraid Of” while cuffed with Seaprism Stone.
Who is Ragnir?
Ragnir is another interesting specimen.
Like Nidhogg, the “Ice Squirrel Ratatoskr” is of Elbaph myth.
“Lightning Dragon Nidhogg” and “Ice Squirrel Ratatoskr” are a pair.
Just as in Norse mythology, Ratatoskr climbs Yggdrasil’s trunk to stop two sides: the eagles at the top and Nidhogg the Dragon at the roots, from destroying the world with their chatter and gnawing respectively.
Perhaps this is symbolic, as Ragnir is the guardian of Nidhogg and follows his namesake Mjolnir’s “worthiness” mechanic from Marvel Comics.
Dragon Might be a God
Loki’s fruit suggests there could be a Devil Fruit whose true power can only be drawn out by a member of the D. Clan, which could be Dragon.
In the Elbaph Harley Mural, you can see three monsters.
As of Chapter 1175, we already know about two of them: Imu and Loki.
This means the third one has to be Dragon, the most wanted man in the world.
These new types of Devil Fruits, which seem to be the rarest of the rare, are depicted in the Harley Mural as giant monsters.
There are three.
The first was eaten by Imu, the second by Loki, and the third was likely eaten by Dragon.
If the giant on the far right is Loki, being the largest dragon, that would work given Jarul’s description and that Nidhogg is from the ground, rather than high up.
However at the top of Yggdrasil, the tree has a monster shaped exactly like a dragon but is the smallest of the three monsters.
So it could go either way, that the one tied to Yggdrasil, the tree of Norse myth, is Nidhogg, while the giant worm-like monster, which Nidhogg is in the myth, could be another entity.
It also fits that his name is Dragon.
In Eastern mythology (East being the direction of Dragon’s origins and where he looks when he thinks of Luffy), dragons, such as Kaido’s Azure Dragon, control storms and weather.
Elements Dragon always brings with him.
And like Loki, Dragon’s Devil Fruit has been hidden for some time but while Loki’s was hidden for a shorter time, given he is a new character, Dragon’s is still a mystery for over 1,000 chapters.
The question is where did he get his powers.
We do not see him take a Devil Fruit from God Valley, so it was not there.
Perhaps this fruit is the one that Rocks was looking for to combine with Harald if he had gotten Lightning and Ice (Nidhogg and Ratatoskr).
Or that it is a whole other faction, like how Dragon is the “third faction” between the Pirates and Marines or Luffy vs Imu.
