SHANKS WAS A HOLY KNIGHT??? WILL LOKI BE THE FINAL STRAW HAT? One Piece Chapter 1152 Full Spoilers!!
HOLY KNIGHTS SHANKS IS REAL, CONFIRMED! And we have confirmation that the Monster Trio are about to get their FINAL FORMS!

In the previous One Piece chapter, Chopper rescues Gaban and Luffy, Loki and the others prepare to take on Imu.
One Piece Chapter 1152 is titled, “Terrible Day”
We continue with the Yamato cover story with Volume 36 of the Oni Child Yamato’s Golden Harvest Surrogate Pilgrimage as Yamato gives Kawamatsu, the Daimyo of Hakumai, an amigasa hat made by Otama.
Luffy and Zoro’s Advanced Conqueror’s Haki Training Begins!
The chapter begins with the New Giant Warrior Pirates on their Sval, including Road.
Gaban talks to Luffy, saying that he should pay more attention to how he uses Conqueror’s Haki.
Gaban reveals that the God’s Knights are not invincible and can be defeated if someone applies their Conqueror’s Haki to its utmost.
As he looks at Zoro and Sanji, Gaban also mentions that there is one other person in Luffy’s crew in the Underworld that is able to use Conqueror’s Haki.
Sanji steps forward and funnily asks if it is him as he refuses to let Zoro and Jinbe’s stock rise (insert stonks meme).
However, Gaban completely ignores him and calls out to the swordsman, saying that Zoro’s body is used to Conqueror’s Haki.
Zoro is surprised but Luffy is even more surprised that Zoro was unaware of it as he has always been “leaking” Conqueror’s Haki.
Could possessing Enma, a sword filled with overwhelming wild Haki, be responsible for the “leakage”? Or was Luffy implying that Zoro always leaked it from the start or early on and was unaware the whole time?
Gaban scoffs at Zoro’s lack of control, saying that Haki is only useful when you recognize and control it, saying this is a pitiful way to support one of the Four Emperors.
While a Sanji counterpart for the Roger Pirates, I appreciate Gaban being the straight man here, telling the Straw Hats to get their act together, especially in the face of a god-tier opponent like Imu.
Zoro apologizes while Sanji continues to get Gaban’s attention but Loki and Hajrudin’s argument interrupts him again.
Does Oda actually hate Sanji?
While Sanji is a gag character in his own right with the pervert gag, he has his own characterization that does not make him exclusively the butt of the joke.
While Luffy does not make note of the presence of any Conqueror’s Haki in Sanji, this does not discount the possibility of Sanji getting Conqueror’s Haki anytime soon, especially with Gaban’s words about recognizing it.
This might be one of anime’s quickest training montages as there is little time left before Imu conquers all of Elbaph.
By the time the Underworld gang finish, they will face an Elbaph completely surrounded by Imu’s Demon Giants.
Will Loki Become the Final Straw Hat?
Hajrudin refuses to free Loki, who argues that Hajrudin is disgraceful for letting outsiders save his homeland and says he alone is enough.
Meanwhile, Hajrudin accuses Loki of being a traitor, saying there is a possibility Loki will side with the World Government, which is something Hajrudin insinuates he already did on that terrible day they lost their father Harald.
Before the argument could keep going, Luffy surprises Loki, asking him to join his crew because if Loki is a Straw Hat, Hajrudin will release him.
Zoro and Sanji say that is not a good idea due to Loki’s size and the amount of food he eats.
Some have already depicted Loki sitting on the main deck, overtaking most of the Thousand Sunny’s space.
Hajrudin realizes that Luffy can tell when someone is trustworthy by instinct but he refuses to accept it due to his experience with his violent younger brother.
Luffy is right 95% of the time, except when the kindness of giving food is somewhat exploited such as during Whiskey Peak, which led to him fighting Zoro.
Loki declines Luffy’s offer, saying that he does not follow anybody, a hint that Loki also has Conqueror’s Haki like Luffy.
Zoro and Sanji head up to the Sun World to check the situation, meaning they will be the vanguard before Luffy as the Sun God Nika emerges from the Underworld to save Elbaph.
We might see some nice Sanji and Zoro action together just like in Wano.
Sanji’s obvious match is Saint Shepherd Sommers due to their themes on love.
Meanwhile, Zoro will face the unmasked Saint Rimoshifu Killingham, yet another case of Zoro being a dragon slayer.
We have already theorized that Loki will be joining the Straw Hats as early as Chapter 1142: “What I am Afraid Of”
Luffy does not move heaven and earth just for anyone, even subtly using his own position as the fleet admiral of the Straw Hat Grand Fleet.
This was an expected development for Loki, another Conqueror to join the fleet of Joy Boy, especially with the presence of an Ancient Giant Warrior in the Harley Mural in Chapter 1138: “The Harley”
As to the logistics, perhaps Franky can make a way or a Sval will be Loki’s place to stay.
If Loki did eat Elbaph’s Legendary Devil Fruit, he will need to stay on something afloat while traveling by water.
The Truth of Harald’s Death Revealed
Gaban tells Hajrudin to free Loki from his only chain.
Hajrudin is surprised Gaban himself would agree with Luffy’s crazy idea as he still sees his brother as the man who murdered 113 soldiers and the king, their father.
Gaban, after much quiet, decides now is the time to tell the truth about the death of King Harald.
Gaban was there for the events of that day but he did not see everything, only sensing a disturbing Haki.
Just like what is happening on Elbaph, which could explain why he was provoked to act as soon as God’s Knights landed.
Hajrudin asks Loki to tell him everything and Loki begins the story, saying it was one really terrible day…
We now have the Elbaph Arc flashback, which begins 14 years before the start of the One Piece story..
Enter Loki, who is 49 years old.
Giant ages are three times that of human’s, so Loki would be 16 years old, close to Luffy’s age when he started his Pirate career.
Loki is with Jarul and is slightly taller than him by this point and of note, both Jarul and Loki are close to the height of Ancient Giants like Oars.
Loki and Jarul head for Aurust Castle as he wanted to ask his father, King Harald, why he sided with the World Government, who he held responsible for killing his idol, his “Shanks”, Rocks D. Xebec.
It was established in Chapter 1145: “Wildfire in Forest Sector 2, Branch Route 8” that Loki originally wanted to join the Rocks Pirates but was rejected due to his age, hence Loki lamenting he was “born in the wrong era”.
When they arrived at the throne room entrance, Loki stamped one giant soldier into the door to open it.
When they entered, however, Loki and Jarul were horrified to see Harald being stabbed by several of his own soldiers.
We only see Harald’s silhouette so we cannot confirm if he had been transformed into a demon but it does seem like Harald had horns and some hint of wings like the Demon Giants Imu created with Demonic Contract in Chapter 1150: “Domi Reversi”.
This is solid confirmation that Loki was not involved in the death of the King of Elbaph.
The Reason Why Shanks Sacrificed His Arm
We cut to the outside of Gaban’s house located on a branch near the Aurust Castle, where Scopper Gaban and Shanks were having a hot bath together, with Gaban saying that it has been a long time since they had a bath together.
Shanks is 25 years old by this point.
Gaban is much younger, right around the same look he had as when Colon was born six years earlier with a black braid goatee and mustache.
We now have a clear look at Shanks’ left arm, with a target sign right above the elbow, and this confirms the long-running suspicion that Shanks had the Abyss mark, which resembles the World Government symbol, a target sign with ends resembling bones.
This is an interesting mark that may very well be the Abyss Mark itself
The God’s Knights wear an armband with a similar symbol, albeit with the addition of demon horns on the center line.
This addition is missing from Shanks’ tattoo but it is hard to tell.
Shanks would lose that arm a year later to save Luffy from the Lord of the Coast.
Those who know Shanks even a few hundred chapters in would realize it is unusual for a strong Pirate like him to lose an arm like that.
However, as we speculated in the early spoilers, if this mark was the Abyss, then he very well saved Luffy’s life by preventing Imu from knowing where the Nika Fruit was or even full-on controlling Shanks’ body like they did with Gunko in Chapter 1149: “One Second”.
Shanks the Destined One
Gaban says it has been a long time, about 3 years since they shared a tub together, which means Shanks does visit Gaban often.
This was before Shanks became one of the Four Emperors as he would become one eight years after the events of this time.
Shanks corrects Gaban, saying that it has been a decade as the last time was when their Captain, Gol D. Roger passed away.
Shanks reveals ever since the execution, his life changed and that originally, he wanted to live a life being a simple jolly Pirate with Buggy, showing that he did feel bad about not living up to Buggy’s expectations or, more importantly, staying with his best friend.
However, he intends to stay on Elbaph to learn more things.
Would this have to do with the Void Century?
Since those who stepped foot on Laugh Tale knew the truth, it is likely Roger or anyone in the crew told him everything.
Even with this information, Shanks would of course need to know more.
Considering that the Ohara Incident took place and Saul recovered the books slowly, the location has
Gaban calls Shanks “the child of Destiny” but what does that mean?
The heir to Roger’s legacy? Even if Roger expressed that it will be his son Ace who will find the One Piece even though he was not even born yet?
Gaban would talk about Shanks’ adventures, with him asking about Little Garden, where the Roger Pirates met Dorry and Brogy, further showing how similar the voyages of Roger and Luffy were.
Ripley arrives and asks if the water temperature is okay, with Shanks being impressed by the way the house of a Giant-human couple looks.
Ripley gives Shanks a giant lingonberry tart.
When Ripley asks for more stories about Gaban, Shanks was about to reveal that he has been with many women in every port the Roger Pirates dock but Gaban stops him from outing the casanova.
Later, the two would drink by the house window where Gaban asks Shanks if he knows of Harald, who is a king revered like a god.
Shanks reveals that he has met Harald in Mary Geoise and became good friends with him but says there were things he was unable to say in the Holy Land.
This…is quite a massive reveal, even bigger than the mark itself.
Because we now have a reason for why it was there.
So is Shanks a rat?
Not so fast. Let us cook first.
Shanks the Holy Knight and the 25 Year Plan
26 years before the start of the series, that is 12 years before Gaban and Shanks’ reunion, Roger disbanded the Roger Pirates and told a teenaged Shanks the truth of his origins as one of the Figarland twins and thus a relation of the God Knights.
Roger must have also mentioned his own familiarity with Figarland Garling 38 years before the start of the story at the God Valley Incident and thus a way to beat the organization in their game to maintain control over the world.
This was the start of Rogers’, Shanks’ and Gaban’s 25 year plan to reawaken Nika into the Third World, which we brought up in Chapter 1140: “Scopper Gaban”
With this knowledge, Shanks either became one of the Holy Knights or had a particularly long stay after Roger was executed 24 years ago.
So around 22 to 14 years ago, Shanks must have been a frequent presence in his homeland.
Shamrock did say that Shanks visited the Holy Land once but what if that was a long stay, possibly even years.
Within this timeline, there was a significant event that jeopardized the Holy Land’s security, Fisher Tiger’s liberation of the Celestial Dragon’s slaves 16 years ago.
Could Shanks have also been involved the same way Admiral Fujitora helped during the Revolutionary Army’s raid on Mary Geoise during the Levely Arc?
This would also explain why Shanks went to Gaban and Elbaph at this time, to warn Harald about something important without arousing the suspicion of Imu, the Five Elders, and God’s Knights.
And this information might involve concurrent events.
As the two ex-crewmates were talking, it seems that during the assassination attempt, someone was trying to steal the chest joining Elbaph’s legendary Devil Fruit.
If the Giant soldiers killed Harald this way, if anything, they might have been the ones possessed by Imu, the God’s Knights or some other power.
There is also a possibility that CP9 was involved since Who’s Who and his CP9 unit were responsible for transporting the Gomu Gomu no Mi.
All the events are far too similar to the Elbaph Arc.
It is likely that this was the response to Shanks’ response, to send someone to retrieve the Devil Fruit before it could be used by Harald or Shanks, with the assassination as a distraction or means to prevent Harald from getting to the Sacred Treasure of Elbaph.
How Did Harald Change?
We cut to yet another flashback, this time taking place 109 years ago when the Giant Pirates were the most feared thing in the sea.
The Great Eirik chases a ship in the sea with a much younger Dorry, Brogy, Oimo, and Kashi but then another giant ship already docked at a human kingdom.
This was an official ship from the Kingdom of Giants, which is yet another reason the name Elbaph strikes absolute terror into the hearts of many.
We see a younger Harald, who looked and acted like Loki, as he struck down a castle, using another Giant’s body as the latter was peeping the window looking for a beautiful Princess from this kingdom, causing the king and princess to cry in fear.
King Harald was a young man of 45 years, as in 15 in human age, that has recently ascended the throne and was considered a real jerk.
Given that King Harald was just like Loki in his past, a warmongerer, there would be a clear change in that path that would make him a pacifist, even if it meant siding with One Piece’s most evil regime.
There will be NO BREAK NEXT WEEK!
One Piece Chapter 1153 will be released on June 30, 2025.
