After 28 Years, We Now Know Why SHANKS LOST HIS ARM! One Piece Chapter 1152 Early Spoilers!!

We now know why Shanks sacrificed his arm and possibly how he came across the Nika Fruit!

ONE PIECE © 1997 by Eiichiro Oda/SHUEISHA Inc.

In the previous One Piece chapter, Chopper rescues Gaban and Luffy, Loki and the others prepare to take on Imu.

One Piece Chapter 1152 is titled, “Terrible Day”

We continue with the Yamato cover story with Volume 36 of the Oni Child Yamato’s Golden Harvest Surrogate Pilgrimage as Yamato gives Kawamatsu a hat made by Otama.

The chapter starts off with Scopper Gaban explaining that the God’s Knights are not actually invincible and can be conquered…with Conqueror’s Haki.

He tells Luffy to improve his Conqueror’s Haki and that there is more than one person in the Straw Hat Crew who can use it.

Sanji assumed it was himself but as we know, Gaban was talking about Zoro, so Oda allowed Sanji to embarrass himself yet again.

Luffy already knew Zoro had Conqueror’s Haki.

Hajrudin says he refuses to release Loki from his one shackle on his shin that ties him to the Treasure Tree Adam.

To solve this, Luffy asks Loki to join his crew so that way, Hajrudin will have to release Loki.

Oh yeah right there, officer.

That is the moment Loki’s fate was sealed.

We have already theorized that Loki will be joining the Straw Hats as early as Chapter 1142: “What I am Afraid Of”

Luffy does not move heaven and earth just for anyone, even subtly using his own position as the fleet admiral of the Straw Hat Grand Fleet.

However, Zoro, Sanji and Hajrudin all disagree with this plan.

We also learn from Gaban that he and Shanks were there on Elbaph during the events of that “terrible day” 14 years ago, when Elbaph lost its king, Harald.

As Shanks was relaxing on Elbaph,

We also notice that Shanks had his left arm and that arm bore the Abyss mark.

If you recall, the Abyss is the demonic ritual used by Imu and their subordinates to not only summon God’s Knights and the Five Elders anywhere around the world but also to tie them to Imu’s control and gain Demon powers, including immortality and Yokai-like transformations.

After 28 years since Romance Dawn and the beginning of One Piece, we now understood why this foundational moment occurred.

There was an actual logical reason why Shanks lost his dominant arm.

Because this was the arm that held Shanks’ connection to Imu and the God’s Knights.

When Luffy accidentally ate the Hito Hito no Mi: Model Nika Zoan Fruit(then called the Gomu Gomu no Mi Paracemia Fruit), Shank was alarmed not only because of the precious value of the fruit and the burden Luffy would carry as Joy Boy but because this also meant his precious little buddy would be in danger if Shanks stayed here.

At any point, Imu would take over like how they took over Gunko in Chapter 1149: “One Second”.

By letting this arm be eaten by the Lord of the Coast in CHAPTER 1: “Romance Dawn”, Shanks saved Luffy from CERTAIN DEATH!

We get a flashback to 14 years ago when Loki, then 49 years old so a 24-year old young man, entering Aurust Castle to ask his father why he aligned with the World Government, the ones responsible for killing Rocks D. Xebec.

However, when he arrived at the castle, Loki found King Harald pierced by his own soldiers.

But why would they betray their own king?

This is the beginning of the King Harald flashback, where we travel backwards until we figure out exactly why his own soldiers attacked him.

Could this be a perceived betrayal in the eyes of the Giant Warriors, who felt the King dishonored Elbaph by siding with the World Government?

We then cut to Shanks telling Gaban that he was close with King Harald once.

Remember Sommers’ line to Shamrock in Chapter 1140: “Scopper Gaban”? He asked if Shamrock came to visit Harald’s grave, implying a close connection with the late King of Elbaph.

This has a few implications.

Shanks was found on God Valley 38 years ago as an infant and his twin Shamrock is a commander of the God’s Knights.

Yet both men bore the Abyss Mark, which could mean that either all God Knight family members or those meant to be God’s Knights are born with the mark or Shanks was initiated into the order at some point in his life, perhaps after Roger told him the truth of his origins.

Furthermore, both twins have some connection to King Harald, who was confirmed to have allied with the World Government but introduced quality of life measures such as education and international trade that angered the Government.

Shanks mentioned that he wanted to form a pirate crew with Buggy but he could not, which caused Buggy to be disappointed in Shanks’ lack of ambition,

Gaban said because of Shanks being the “destined boy”, whatever that could mean but it could have something to do with the Nika fruit.

Shanks wanted to reach out to King Harald, meaning that the decision to join the World Government was somewhat recent but then something happened.

The legendary Devil Fruit of Elbaph got stolen.

This adds more layers to the mystery.

Could the legendary Devil Fruit actually be the Nika fruit itself?

The timeline does fit as Who’s Who and his CP9 group were assigned to guard the fruit, which means that the entire purpose of the World Government alliance was for God’s Knights to steal the Nika fruit from under Harald’s nose.

It does explain why they were able to enter Aurust Castle via the Abyss.

This theft takes place before the terrible day of Harald’s assassination so until we have more details, we are unsure of the timeline.

Speaking of timelines, we cut to a flashback from 109 years ago when a younger Harald was just a Giant Warrior, rampaging on a human kingdom, rather than being a peacemaker.

Given that King Harald was just like Loki in his past, a warmonger, there would be a clear change in that path that would make him a pacifist, even if it meant siding with One Piece’s most evil regime.

There will be NO BREAK NEXT WEEK!

One Piece Chapter 1153 will be released on June 30, 2025.
