Sommers Was There During the God Valley Incident! One Piece Chapter 1148 Full Spoilers!
A grudge match since the God Valley Incident 38 years ago, Scopper Gaban vs Shepherd Sommers is happening!

In the previous One Piece chapter, Robin and Gaban head out to stop the God’s Knights plans to destroy Elbaph.
One Piece Chapter 1148 is titled, “Ronja”
This chapter has 15 pages.
We continue with Oni Child Yamato’s Golden Harvest Surrogate Pilgrimage, Volume 33, where Yamato says farewell to Raizo, Tama and Speed as she goes with Ulti and Page One to return to Kawamatsu.
This cover story is clearly mirroring Oden’s whole journey as Oden was also being trailed by his posse prior to formally adopting them, which could mean that Yamato will go out to sea with a new Akazaya Nine made of former Beast Pirates, a budding kunoichi (Tama) and probably some animals.
Ronja and Gunko
The chapter begins with Gunko making a child named Ronja walk one of her Arrows, which is formed on the edge of a cliff, as if she was walking on a plank to her doom.
She is the first of the ten children to be sent down as a threat to the Elbaph Giants.
The children are worried as Ronja is directly above the Underworld level.
Quite a high leap for a Giant child, especially in a massive island like Elbaph.
Gunko tells Sommers that the first child is ready, which leads into Sommers announcing that if the Giants fail to obey his order of destroying the schools and library within 30 seconds, Ronja falls and more children will follow.
The Giants argue over these demands being crazy.
Robin vs Sommers
We cut back to Robin and Chopper, with the former telling the latter to hide as she cannot control herself any longer, hearing these threats from Sommers.
The Straw Hats are also tied up.
Nami says that even the worst people would not take children hostage.
Ripley, Franky and the other Giants split up and form groups to rescue the Giant children.
Sommers continues his speech, saying that the Holy Knights want the Giants to destroy not just the buildings but every book so that their whole culture and history is wiped out.
The Giants are the strongest army in the One Piece world and they were brought down because of the World Government playing the lowliest game possible, by kidnapping children in their culling game.
Suddenly, Robin appears and attacks Sommers using Cien Fleu (one hundred flowers), with a fast hand striking his face.
Sommers falls face-down, with Robin using four hands to grab his neck and then breaking his back, resulting in him bleeding from the mouth
Robin then realizes that no one can defeat the Holy Knights because of their immortality.
Indeed, Sommers gets back up and fixes his neck.
Suddenly, Robin throws herself and pushes him off the cliff, with Sommers surprised that Robin would kill herself this way.
Sommers reminds Robin that she has only 20 seconds left to save the first girl Ronja.
Robin reasons that since he is immortal, there are not many options to get rid of him but if he dies, the thorns around the children would vanish and free them.
Sommers forms thorns around himself to kill Robin but as it turns out, this Robin is just a clone made from the Hana Hana no Mi.
Quite smart of her, as expected.
The real Robin actually went off to untie the Straw Hats.
Sommers clings himself to a branch using a thorny vine.
As the seconds tick, Ronja tells Jarul, who overhears it via the Den Den Mushi, that she loves the library and school, and the way the teachers taught her about not fighting or hurting others, and that the Giants will probably destroy them to save her life but doing so would make everyone else sad.
Moved to tears by Ronja’s plea, Jarul tells the Giants to destroy the school and library to save them.
A Rematch Since the God Valley Incident
As he counts down to zero, Sommers returns to bind Robin with his vines.
Suddenly, Sommers loses his left hand and sees that it is not regenerating, much to his shock.
We were not able to see how this happened until Sommers turns around and sees Scopper Gaban, who says it has been a while since they last met.
This confirms that Sommers was there 38 years ago during the God Valley Incident, which lines up since he does look older.
Seeing the former Left Arm of the Pirate King, Sommers panics, screaming out the name of Scopper Gaban, as if he saw war flashbacks.
Indeed, Gaban proves himself to be quite the threat to the immortal Holy Knight as he was able to cut off Sommers’ hand with a speed feat akin to his Straw Hat counterpart, Sanji, being invisible with his speeding until the very second Sommers lost his hand.
The chapter ends with Gaban cutting Sommers’ chest as well using Haki, with the last frame of the final double page showing Gaban’s sheer anger.
This finally confirms that Scopper Gaban can use Conqueror’s Haki and just like Joy Boy’s Haki was able to revert the Five Elders back to human and send them back to Mary Geoise in Chapter 1122: “Time is Right”.
This shows that Conqueror’s Haki is able to counter Imu’s immortality and Usopp had no Haki in his attacks, which explains her regeneration.
Luffy and Loki now have a shot in intervening but it is clear that even with these injuries, Sommers is not out of the battle. He will have to fight Gaban and we might see more of the Iba Iba no Mi and Sommers’ demon powers in action.
Unfortunately, we still do not see Robin progressing with regards to Haki but she has proven to be more capable than the current Straw Hats when it comes to sneaking up on a Holy Knight and momentarily keeping him hostage.
At the end of the day, Kaido continues to be proven right, that Haki alone dominates the seas as Haki as the only means to break through the Imu-given immortality of the Five Elders and Holy Knights.
However, we will not see this exciting battle until near the end of May.
There will be a break next week.
One Piece Chapter 1149 will be released on May 25, 2025.
