BLACK CLOVER’S ENDING IS TRASH???? Black Clover Chapters 387 to 389 Spoilers!

In the previous Black Clover chapters, Yami gains the power of Adramelech, who betrays Lucius due to his fondness of the humans’ resilience and Yuno and Asta manage to pierce through Lucius, setting off the final stage of this climax.

Lucius is PATHETIC

Page 387 is titled, “Limit Breakers”

This chapter has 21 pages, including the color spread.

The color spread features another Yuno and Asta shot together, in their final forms.

This is the final battle of the entire series.

Lucius Zogratis, the Final Wizard King vs Asta and Yuno for the future of the world and humanity.

The chapter begins with Lucius’s arms being shattered by Asta and Yuno’s attack from the last chapter.

From Lucius’ perspective, Yuno and Asta have achieved complete synchronization and that Asta’s transformation is the same as in the Lucifero battle from the previous arc.

Furthermore, Lucius notes that if Asta and Yuno fought as individuals, they would not have reached this level of power to be able to do damage to Lucius.

The reason they achieved this synchronization and power is because of their rivalry.

Yuno and Asta are arguably shonen’s healthiest rivalry. 

They are brothers first, rivals second but in a way, both terms are the same, as they want to grow together and they use comparison and competition to help each other and help themselves grow and succeed, all for the race to their mutual goal: the title of Wizard King.

As he summons dragon constructs made of different magic elements, Lucius declares that he is the Supreme Wizard King.

Asta says that he does not care about being a “Supreme Wizard King” who rules over the lives of humans and decides for them.

As the magic projectiles fall upon the floating Clover Kingdom, Asta states that he only wants to be a Wizard King that is acknowledged by everyone.

As Asta charges, Lucius strikes back and throws him off.

Yuno flies towards Lucius and manages to blitz him.

This leads to Lucius praising the quality of Yuno’s magic, admitting that even Yuno was able to surpass the Supreme Wizard King, so he asks why Yuno would stand shoulder-to-shoulder with a “flaw”.

In response, Yuno declares that Asta is the only rival worthy of him and that Lucius, even in this form, is no longer enough of a challenge.

Now Lucius, for the first time since his introduction, loses his cool and tells Yuno to take back his words as he refuses to be considered inferior to a “magicless flaw” that he intends to correct and save humanity.

Lucius unleashes a barrage of magical blasts as Asta fires back at Lucius’ dehumanization of him, saying that he never asked to be saved.

Asta talks about the suffering he experienced from the discrimination of having no magic, the hardship of surviving without magic, all the frustration and despair, saying that this is his life and that even if his life is imperfect, it is not something that others get to control.

Lucius makes one of the most smug, squirmy looks imaginable, worthy of a meme.

Yuno looks down on Lucius for being a pathetic guy, with Asta adding that Lucius is not Julius and is someone that no one really respects.

Indeed, it only takes warping their souls for humans to respect someone as egotistical as Lucius.

Lucius absolutely refuses to hear all of these words from the boys, not wanting to admit his mistakes and the chapter ends with Yuno declaring that they refuse to lose to a pathetic scumbag like him.

THE RETURN OF JULIUS NOVACHRONO

Page 388 is titled, “Time of Reckoning”

This chapter has 19 pages.

The chapter begins with a continuation of the battle as Asta and Yuno chase after Lucius through the ruins of the city.

Yuno uses the Spirit of Euros to fire an arrow while Asta cuts down one of the magic dragons, which was made of String Magic.

Klaus, Secre, Zora, William Vangeance, Yami, and everyone else cheer the boys on.

We see Nacht, Charlotte, Luck, Magna, Gauche, Marie, Rill, Langris, Finral, Finesse, Charmy, Sol, Noelle, Vanessa, Gray cheer on as Yuno and Asta chase Lucius to the edges of the land, reaching snowy mountains, cutting through multiple mountains with sheer speed.

Asta and Yuno need an opening 

Lucius makes a gleeful smile as he sees that the boys might have reached their limits.

If he can withstand this, he will win.

Seeing that she has finally mastered control over her magic, which has been her lifetime weakness, Noelle activates her Dragon Form Valkyrie Dress and flies towards Lucius and the boys while reminding herself that she needs to be precise in her magic control.

Now joining Asta and Yuno, Noelle, our main female protagonist, lands a blow on Lucius together with the boys.

This blow creates a small crack on Lucius’ exposed core, which leads into Julius’ reawakening inside Lucius’ soul as the other personality declares that it is time for judgment.

The chapter ends with Yuno and Asta landing the final blow on Lucius’ core.

Goodbye Julius Novachrono

Page 389 is titled, “Supreme Achievement”

This chapter has 18 pages.

The chapter begins in Lucius’ mind as Lucius asks Julius why he lost even though he is perfect.

Julius states that he was the Wizard King and the Magic Knights fulfilled their part.

Lucius refuses to see that the Magic Knights could bring peace or end inequality but Julius states that not even he who can see the future can be sure, which is why people must work hard.

More than Lucius’ idea of salvation, it was Yuno and Asta who truly moved people’s hearts to confront the inequality between those that have magic and those with less or none.

Yuno and Asta’s rivalry was one of equals and not once was Asta made inferior by Yuno’s abundance of magic nor was Yuno looking down on Asta but had in fact always treated him better than anyone else.

Lucius gives Julius a cringe face and seemingly cringes to death, turning into dust in front of Julius.

Morris looks on in disbelief as in front of Asta and Yuno is a fully restored Julius.

Julius praises William and Yami, who are both shocked to see Julius back, with the pair saying that they have only been able to reach this point thanks to Julius’ belief in them.

Julius declares that Ast and Yuno performed the ultimate magical achievement.

Together, they killed Lucius and saved Julius at the exact same time with their respective unique gifts.

With the power of Anti-Magic, Asta was able to cut down Lucius, proving that the “flaw” is not a defect of the world but Lucuius’ ultimate weakness and that he feared him.

With the power of Spirits, Yuno was able to restore Julius to this world

Julius checks the damage wrought by Lucius as we see many deaths, with Sekke on the verge of dying.

Mereoleona looks at her current state as she is about to die from the effects of her spell, “Ultimate Flame Magic: Excelictus Leonum,” in Chapter 371: “Indestructible Souls” that allowed her to be turned into pure mana alongside dead members of the Crimson Lions.

Mereoleona praises her brothers Fuegoleon and Leopold but notes that she will not be long for this world since she has no body to return to.

Julius performs his final job as Wizard King and lets his coverless Grimoire float, emitting a bright light all over the Clover Kingdom, reviving everyone that had died.

Mereoleona reunites with her brothers happily, meaning the other Crimson Lions who died were also restored.

Jack the Ripper is also alive, alongside Marx, Revchi and Gueldre, who was killed by Lucius in Chapter 379: “Absolute Messiah” as part of his demonstration of the connection with the Grimoire Towers and dead Grimoires.

Imparting his final words, entrusting the Clover Kingdom to the Magic Knights, Julius vanishes as the entire ty of the Magic Knights offer their heartfelt salutes to their virtuous leader.

While it was amazing to see Julus complete his character journey with a bang, this feels like an unfortunately underwhelming, if not frustrating ending.

We have no idea where Lucius even came from outside his ties to the Zogratis Family.

We do not know why he was paralyzed or how he ended up in the Clover Kingdom.

We also do not know the origins of the Time Devil, Astaroth, who gave Julius his Time Magic.

We only have two chapters left for the Super Climax.

Black Clover’s finale, Chapters 390 and 391 will be released on Spring 2026, around April or May of the next year.
