Batista Betrays Zora! Choujin X Chapter 57 Spoilers
Batista was never that loyal but now he intends to either jump ship or get what he wants from Zora. Standing in his way is the iconic Bucket Head.
In the previous chapter, Ely uses Caribol’s power to form a bridge to help the Yamato Mori keepers progress but learns from Tawashi that if the Keepers kill Zora, her “children” will die, including Tokio and Azuma.
Chapter 57 is titled, “Zora Subjugation: Castle Gate”
After the Keepers manage to set up communications, Sandek contacts Poko and asks them if they can reach every team, including Tokio, who is still carrying Momoma, amd Simon, telling the two means to meet up in “Altitude 1100”.
Ely’s Golem bids her farewell, saying that it was fun.
However, Batista has been listening in the whole time while floating in the air, watching the Tower of Mourning from the outside.
Now we see why Batista is more independent than the rest of the Tower.
Unlike Chandra, Batista is not actually a fully-fledged member of the Tower, at least by intent, as he acts independently and is more focused on creating XEMBER.
Chandra commits terrorism for his religious love for his Holy Mother while Batista is spreading XEMBER like drugs to create X candidates.
This also explains the last scene in Chapter 24 and his general interest in Azuma.
He is also looking for Choujin X but for a different reason that we do not know quite yet.
This reminds me of Sato as well, who is also suspicious and has his own motivations.
Not to mention that Sato is a direct mentor to Tokio, an influence on the kind of Choujin X he would become.
However, we also do not know what he is there for.
If Sandek regroups with the other teams, the Tower will fall, so Batista senses this inevitability and prepares to leave through Kate Neether’s Hole, where he rushes to the stairs leading to Zora’s throne room.
Batista intends to have his wish granted, which could have something to do with Hartley, his wife.
We also do not know her fate.
Suddenly, the Bucket Head stands in front of Batista.
As it turns out, “Knight Bottom”, the name of Bucket Head, is actually Zora’s bodyguard, the gatekeeper to the throne whose duty is to protect the Mark of the Beast and transfer it to a suitable successor.
Knight Bottom does not trust Batista, seeing him as “the Depriver”, a Thief Choujin.
Batista clarifies he is not here to steal anything, before using his Gravity Manipulation to crush Knight Bottom with rubble.
Knight Bottom emerges and he says something interesting, that Batista may have managed to fool the “mad Zora” but not him.
It seems even Knight Bottom thinks that Zora has descended to madness.
Batista is surprised that even a follower of the Holy Mother has some sense of intuition and awareness.
Batista also says that he was honest as a collaborator of the Tower of Mourning and fine with being responsible for losing Tokio to Yamato Mori since he did want Zora to have a successor.
Since Zora has lost, Batista decides to ditch his allegiances and decides to destroy Knight Bottom but the Bucket Head cuts Batista in half, except severing Batista’s body parts invokes his Dry Dawn illusion.
Knight Bottom unleashes his Choujin ability, Sacred Fire but Batista uses Portal Trap to redirect it back to the Bucket Head before unmasking himself somewhat.
Then Batista points out that he sees himself less as a thief and more of a “Researcher” betting on a 1% chance, which also reflects how desperate he was to acquire his wish or to see where Tokio or X can bring the world to.
The final statement, that even if everyone denies the 1% chance, he will never give up
By opening his mask, Batista summons one of the powers he patched on his face and teleports Knight Bottom to the Sea of Eight Kings.
On a side note, Knight Bottom’s sword being spun resembles Zora’s emblem.
As he sits down to relax, Batista notes that the world is pointless without his wife Hartley, indicating that Hartley is probably long gone.
I am sensing some Obito Uchiha vibes considering they are both masked men seeking a dream world by any means.
His line “The future I desire…” then points to Sandek, likely indicating that he still has some attachment to his estranged brother.
We see a page with each Yamato Mori team and the Noh Mask in the center bottom.
The Yamato Mori battle situation reveals they only lost some of their non-Choujin forces and that they are 60% done with the operation, getting closer to Zora’s location.
It seems like we are halfway done with the Zora Subjugation Arc.
