With the second season of the One Piece anime ending at 25 episodes and the upcoming God Valley movie being canon, what will be the third season look like?

On September 7, 2026, we got the titles for the final two episodes of the One Piece anime Season 2

Episode 1179: “A Life-or-Death Second! Gaban vs. the Knights of God”

Chapter adapted: Chapter 1149: “One Second”

Date: September 20, 2026

Episode 1180: “Elbaph in Despair! The Devil’s Contract — Domi Reversi”

Chapter adapted: Chapter 1150: “Domi Reversi”

Date: September 27, 2026

This puts the anime season at a total of 25 episodes, with its run beginning on April 5th with Episode 1156: “The Long-Sought Elbaph! The Big Reunion Banquet”.

During the One Piece anime’s 26th anniversary on October 2025, it was stated that Toei would release a maximum of 26 episodes, rather than strictly reach 26 episodes per season.

The anime will go on hiatus after Chapter 1150, right where Imu appears after possessing Saint Manmeyer Gunko when she is about to remember her life with Brook.

Season 2 of the One Piece anime has adapted a total of 25 chapters.

This has implications on how the One Piece anime will be structured moving forward.

The God Valley movie, the first fully canon One Piece film, will be released in 2027, likely within the Summer season between July and September, likely on August 2027.

Given the title and content, the movie will likely only adapt Chapter 1155: “The Rocks Pirates” to Chapter 1166: “New Stories” , 12 chapters of the 19-chapter flashback arc, with Chapter 1166 possibly only covering its first 10 pages.

While some users assume it will start with Chapter 1159: “The Island of Fate”, the actual start of the God Valley Incident, it is also likely the movie will cover Rocks D. Xebec’s background more since he is the main character.

For the anime, it will start with Chapter 1151: “I Get the Idea!!” amd stop at either Chapter 1155 or 1159, then move into the rest of Chapter 1166.

This could potentially mean that Season 3 will end with Nerona Imu’s Descent in Chapter 1179: “Nerona Imu Descends”.

On the other hand, there is also the possibility that the God Valley film will be split into multiple episodes for the new season similar to how Demon Slayer Season 2 handled the Infinity Train movie.
