The trailer shows a meeting with the cast, where the protagonist Rimuru Tempest informs the audience that the production for the second Tensura film has been decided alongside the production of Season 4.
Season 3 premiered on April 5, 2024 has already concluded at the 24th episode on September 27, 2024, bringing the episode total to 72.
Season 3’s plot focused on Rimuru’s recent ascension as Demon Lord and his conflict with the Western Holy Church and the festival to celebrate the acceptance of Tempest as a nation.
The first Tensura film was “That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime: Scarlet Bond”, which was released in Japanese theaters on November 2022.
About Tensura
“That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime” is a light novel series originally written by Fuse and illustrated by Mitz Vah from 2013 to 2016 as part of the user-generated novel publishing website Shōsetsuka ni Narō .
The series is currently under Micro Magazine, which published the first light novel volume in 2014 and has since released 21 volumes as of October 2023.
The series would later be adapted into a manga illustrated by Taiki Kawakami on March 26, 2015 under Kodansha’s Monthly Shōnen Sirius. As of 2024, the manga has reached 27 volumes.
Tensura is also the first manga series based on a light novel with at least 20 million total copies in print, with 40 million copies in circulation as of February 2023.
The manga would be adapted into an anime series handled by Studio 8bit and began airing on October 2, 2018 directed by Atsushi Nakayama as of Season 2.
The series currently has three seasons, each season reaching 24 episodes for a total of 72 episodes, as well as 5 OVAs (Original Video Animations) and two spin-offs, the 12-episode “The Slime Diaries: That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime” released in 2019, and the original net animation “Visions of Coleus” released in 2023.
