The key reason for Oshi No Ko to win the award is due to its immensely popular Season 1 anime adaptation, which aired in 2023. The shocking development of the first episode attracted a lot of attention.

The hit opening theme ‘Idol’ by YOASOBI also boosted the popularity of the work, leading to an increase in the number of searches. This is followed by the fact that Idol became the most streamed song in Japan (2023) on Spotify and topped the Billboard Global charts.

There were a total of 5 anime that were included in the awards, and the entire list is as follows:

  1. Oshi No Ko
  2. Blue Lock
  3. Hell’s Paradise
  4. Frieren: Beyond Journey’s End
  5. Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba—Swordsmith Village Arc

Blue Lock occupied 2nd place in response to the large number of searches for its characters. Hell’s Paradise and Demon Slayer were also in the list due to its setting in ancient Japan. Frieren also became a hot topic for the two-hour broadcast of its first four episodes.

The Yahoo! Search Awards was launched in 2002 and is now in its tenth year. The selection criteria for the awards are based on data from Yahoo! Search, one of the largest search services in Japan, and therefore reflect the interests and concerns of users, making the awards “the people’s choice.”

The first place in each category is displayed at the top of the search results when searching for the ‘Search Awards’ on Yahoo!
