Naruto 20th Anniversary Special Anime Rumored To Be Released Sometime In FY2025!

According to the latest TV Tokyo Financial Results’ Q&A session with Ichiro Ishikawa held on May 21st, 2024, the much-awaited special anime made to commemorate Naruto’s 20th anniversary is said to release sometime during the current financial year, i.e., April 1, 2024 to March 31, 2025.

Though it was postponed due to production problems, Ichiro Ishikawa, the CEO of TV Tokyo Corp. has certainly given Naruto & Boruto fans some light in their otherwise damp expectations regarding animated content.

When asked about about the latest series of NARUTO and BORUTO and how popular they are in the global market for distribution. Ichiro Ishikawa said:

“The new Boruto series is currently on hiatus, but we are planning to broadcast the NARUTO TV Anime ‘New Animation’  to commemorate its 20th anniversary during the current financial year. In terms of distribution, we are expanding worldwide and are also working on distribution in Latin America and the Middle East, with Eastern Europe remaining. Discussions are in the final stages to find a good partner and to have them also engage in peripheral businesses.”

A.「BORUTO」の新作は放送休止中だが、今年度中に 20 周年記念の新作の放送を予定している。配信については全世界に展開する中で中南米、中東でも手掛けており、残っている地域は東欧だ。いいパートナーを見つけて、周辺ビジネスも手掛けてもらうための協議が最終段階にある。

Naruto 20th Anniversary special anime, which consists of 4 brand-new animated episodes, was supposed to be broadcast for four consecutive weeks starting from September 3, 2023 but it was postponed to further improve the quality of this work.

About Naruto:

Naruto manga, written and illustrated by Masashi Kishimoto, was serialized in Shueisha’s magazine, Weekly Shonen Jump, from 1999 to 2014 and released in tankobon (book) form in 72 volumes.

Viz Media licensed the manga and anime for North American production and serialized Naruto in their digital Weekly Shonen Jump magazine.

Naruto is one of the best-selling manga series in history, with 250 million copies in circulation worldwide in 47 countries and regions.

Out of this, 153 million copies were sold in Japan alone, and the remaining 97 million copies were sold worldwide.

Studio Pierrot and TV Tokyo were responsible for producing the Naruto anime. It premiered in Japan on October 3, 2002, and concluded on February 8, 2007.

The anime aired 220 episodes in total.

Naruto: Shippuden, developed by Studio Pierrot, is the sequel to the original Naruto anime. Naruto: Shippuden adapts Part II of the manga.

The anime began on February 15, 2007, and ended on March 23, 2017.

Currently, the second part of the sequel “BORUTO” titled BORUTO -TWO BLUE VORTEX-” (original story and manga by Masashi Kishimoto, supervised by Mikio Ikemoto) is being serialized in V Jump.
