Despite how beautiful the anime looks, Jujutsu Kaisen season 2 doesn’t seem to be running short in the controversy department. From animators outright complaining about poor working conditions on Twitter to fans signing petitions to postpone the anime, another one has come to the table.

Jujutsu Kaisen Season 2 Episode 21 included an anime-only scene of Aoi Todo fighting Mahito in a schoolgirl outfit. This was basically done for Todo to fight with his full power unleashed, and imagining his favorite idol, Takada-chan, fighting along with him helps his state of mind.

Atleast that’s what the animator in charge thought.

Shota Shigetsugu, the person who gave the idea of Todo imagining himself to be cross-dressing while fighting Mahito, received praise from Japan but faced severe backlash from a bunch of Arabic fans, who claim that it is a sin for people to cross-dress, even in animated shows.

The animator apologized to the fans on Twitter. He also stated that he was unaware of the widespread opposition against cross-dressers in other parts of the world.

The post was deleted after an hour of posting, but other fans took screenshots and wanted to point out this absurdity.

A large number of fans stepped up and defended the animator, including Muslim fans. One of them went as far as stating that these Arabic fans are hypocritical, in the sense that they enjoy the fan-servicey portions of anime without batting an eye, and another one admitted that they found the whole scene genuinely funny.
