Gachiakuta on Indefinite Hiatus
Gachiakuta fans have waited a month for a new chapter and it is now confirmed the series will be on an indefinite hiatus.
On September 8, 2026, according to Kodansha’s Weekly Shonen Magazine, the Gachiakuta manga by Kei Urana has been on hiatus for over a month because the author is “collecting data”.
The most recent chapter was a “half-chapter”, Chapter 173 Part 1: “Forgot Something?”, which was released on August 5, 2026 and only had 9 pages.
Hiatus History
Even within its first year in 2022, Gachiakuta saw three breaks:
- Issue 38 (August 17),
- Issue 45 (October 5),
- and Issue 53 (November 30),
Although these were normal breaks for rest.
As a result, in its first year, Gachiakuta released its first 40 chapters and the first five of its ten arcs.
Meanwhile, 2023 saw six breaks:
- Issue 12 (February 22)
- Issue 16 (March 22)
- Issue 25 (May 24)
- Issue 34 (July 26)
- Issue 40 (September 6)
- Issue 43 (September 27)
Notably, on September, Urana confirmed via her former Twitter acount on September 5, 2023 that she contracted COVID-19.
Still, Gachiakuta moved in the same rate as the previous year at 41 chapters.
In 2024, Urana started taking more breaks.
- Issue 1 (December 6, 2023)
- Issue 9 (January 31, 2024)
- Issue 10 (February 7)
- Issue 24 (May 15)
- Issue 31 (July 31)
- Issue 32 (July 10)
- Issue 39 (August 28)
- Issue 48 (October 30)
- Issue 51 (November 20)
Urana was ill around August 28th while the rest were likely due to scheduling issues.
As such, Gachiakuta released 40 chapters in 2024.
However, in 2025, there have been the same number of breaks as the previous year.
- Issue 12 (February 19)
- Issue 17 (March 26)
- Issue 24 (May 14)
- Issue 30 (June 25)
- Issue 38 (August 20)
- Issue 41 (September 10)
- Issue 46 (October 15)
- Issues 50 and 51 (November 12-19)
Her last break in 2025 was due to her going to a business trip.
This year, Gachiakuta released a total of 37 chapters.
The current year 2026 saw the most breaks for a total of 18 issues.
- Issue 9
- Issues 11 to 16
- Issue 18
- Issues 22 to 24
- Issues 28 to 29
- Issue 33
The current hiatus went on from Issue 38 to the current 42nd beginning August 12th.
As of present, Gachiakuta released a total of 14 chapters.
Research
As such, Gachiakuta has seen an inconsistent release schedule, due to various factors, including the author’s research (such as this case) and possibly mental health concerns due to social media interactions that eventually led to her departure from Twitter on May 24, 2026.
Some fans have expressed gloom over the situation, saying that the manga has been cancelled or that Urana has lost motivation to continue.
However, Kei Urana does continue live drawings of Gachiakuta characters on her Instagram, hinting that she is still working on the series.
Urana has proven to commit to doing actual research for her manga, having taken photographs of herself to replicate movement, as well as referencing other manga and movies, similar to her mentor, Fire Force and Soul Eater’s Atsushi Ohkubo.
The magazine will announce a resumption date in the near future.
