Attack on Titan Voice Actor’s Dream Job Was Bleach?
One of anime’s most iconic voices began his career to be able to join a project like Bleach and decades later, he makes it in one of its most memorable scenes.
On August 15, 2026, Bleach: Thousand Year Blood War Episode 44 aired and casted Yuki Kaji as the voice for adult Toshiro Hitsugaya.
There is an interesting dynamic at play behind the two voice actors since Romi Park, the main voice for Hitsugaya, also plays Hange Zoe, the eccentric scientist and Commander of the Survey Corps in Attack on Titan while Kaji played Eren Jaeger, the protagonist of the same series.
He did not get this role automatically as he went through multiple auditions supervised by Tite Kubo himself.
Kaji mentioned how he had envisioned himself joining Bleach while training at voice acting school, especially the manga began serialization during his childhood.
“We’ll work hard so that one day we can appear in a work like this,” Kaji reportedly said to his colleagues.
Furthermore, Kaji showed much respect to the role as it was played by Romi Park, to the point of imitating her delivery and nuances when voicing the adult version of the character.
But Kaji intended to capture Hitsugaya’s full memories and went beyond just imitating Park’s voice acting, so he began rereading the entire original manga as well.
