Jujutsu Kaisen Season 2 has released episode 13, titled Red Scale.

The episode primarily focused on the fight between the cursed womb death painting, Choso, and Yuji Itadori.

In our opinion, MAPPA’s animator did justice to Choso’s cursed technique, Blood Manipulation, and truly showcased its destructive capabilities.

Let’s learn what makes Blood Manipulation so deadly.

What Is The Blood Manipulation Technique?

The Kamo family’s cherished, inherited technique, Blood Manipulation is a truly versatile technique.

As the name implies, it allows the user to manipulate blood, more specifically, their own blood.

The technique allows the user to manipulate every aspect of their blood, including its composition.

With the help of a cut, one can use the blood coming outside their body to create mid-range projectiles by hardening them.

They can even manipulate the blood that is still inside their bodies to control their pulse rate and body temperature.

Another advantage blood manipulation users have is that their blood is poisonous to cursed spirits.

In the Jujutsu Kaisen manga, until now, we have only seen Choso and Noritoshi Kamo use this technique.

While using it, both have shown us a myriad of techniques. Let’s check them out.

Blood Manipulation Extension Techniques

Flowing Red Scale: By controlling the blood, the user increases their body temperature, pulse rate, and number of red blood cells. This greatly increases energy and physical capability.

Flowing Red Scales

During the Goodwill Event arc, Noritoshi showcased this technique in his fight with Megumi.

Flowing Red Scale: Stack: This technique is Flowing Red Scale but on steriods. By intensifying the Red Scale technique, one’s physical capability increases to an even higher degree.

Choso used this technique to match Yuji’s superhuman strength.

Crimson Binding: By controlling the blood outside their body, the user creates a widespread net that tightly ensnares the target, blocking their movement.

Noritoshi used this technique against Megumi’s shikigami, Nue.

Slicing Exorcism: It is a long-range attack where, by forming a rotating disc of blood or by creating a long stream of blood, the user is able to slice their opponent.

During the Goodwill event, Noritoshi formed a rotating chakram, which he then threw towards the cursed spirit Hanami.

Meanwhile, in Chapter 84, Choso created a long stream of high pressure, cutting off civilians.

Convergence: This technique is commonly used with piercing blood. The user brings both their palms together and aims them towards their opponent.

Convergence

Inside their palms, the blood is compressed and condensed to its extreme limits.

Piercing Blood: After using convergence, the user fires a long-range beam of blood with extreme piercing capabilities.

After properly reinforcing it with cursed energy, the stream can reach the speed of sound. In his fight against Yuji, Choso created such a strong stream that it literally cut through metal signs and damaged the concrete.

Supernova: This is a special technique that Choso created by honing Blood Manipulation for 150 years.

Choso creates multiple small orbs of blood using convergence and then bursts them out in every direction, similar to a buckshot. Creating a deadly attack that can be shot from any direction.

Choso showed this technique in his fight against Yuji in season 2 and against Naoya Zenin in Chapter 142.

He also shows this technique in his fight with Kenjaku in Chapter 203.

Blood Edge: Using this technique, the user shapes and strengthens the user’s blood by rotating it at a high speed. By shaping it, the user can use it like a dagger.

This is exactly what Choso did during his fight with Yuji and stabbed his foot.

Blood Meteorite: The user hardens some part of their blood before throwing it at their target.

However, this technique does not have the speed or power that piercing blood has.

Using this technique, Choso was able to pierce Yuji’s liver, thus fatally wounding him.

But even after that, when Yuji still stood up and fought Choso, he used the same technique in his right fight.

This greatly improved his offensive power, but this comes at a high risk, as hardening the blood within the body increases the risk of them suddenly developing thrombosis.

Thrombosis is a blood clot within blood vessels that limits the flow of blood, which can become life-threatening.
