Gachiakuta Wins 50th Kodansha Manga Awards

Gachiakuta nails a significant milestone with the Kodansha Manga Awards

On May 11, 2026, it was announced that the 50th Kodansha Manga Award has concluded.

Gachiakuta by Kei Urana (2022-present), published in Kodansha’s Weekly Shonen Magazine, has won the Shonen Manga category

Darwin’s Incident (2020-present) by Shun Umezawa, published in Kodansha’s monthly Bessatsu Shonen Magazine, won the Seinen Manga category.

Re-Living My Life with a Boyfriend Who Doesn’t Remember Me (2022-present) by Eiko Mutsuhana, Yugiri Aika, and Gin Shirakawa won the Shojo Manga category.

Established in 1960, with its current version branded by 1977, the Kodansha Manga Award is sponsored by the aforementioned publisher to honor ongoing serialized manga, with winners given a certificate, a bronze statuette, and a monetary prize.

Divided between shōnen, shōjo, and general manga categories, this award is not exclusively limited to Kodansha properties, as the 2024 shonen winner was Frieren: Beyond Journey’s End (2020-present) is from Shogakukan.

The previous year’s winners were: Versus (2022-present) by One (One Punch Man, Mob Psycho 100), bose, and Kyōtarō Azuma, Fall in Love, You False Angels (2023-present) by Coco Uzuki and Historie (2003, on hiatus since 2022) by Hitoshi Iwaaki

A few weeks later, Gachiakuta has also won some awards from the 2026 Crunchyroll Awards, namely Best New Series, Best Background Art and Best Character Design.
