In the previous Kagurabachi chapter, the Soga Clan clash with the Mikaboshi, seemingly killing the Mikaboshi Crown Prince and winning the battle

Kagurabachi Chapter 119 is titled, “Irishima Talks, Part 3”

This chapter has 19 pages.

Editor’s Note: “History!”

The chapter begins with the seemingly dead Mikaboshi Prince thinking about his ancestral past.

The Mikaboshi ruled Japan long ago, then the Soga rebelled and destroyed them.

On the island where the Mikaboshi and their attendants fled was the sacred stone, where they offered prayers for a peaceful future.

The Soga Clan’s “Hero”, Ukizane Soga was on the brink of erasing the Island with its people, when suddenly, the Stone of the soon to be-King of Mikaboshi that had sunk to the bottom of the ocean answered their call and with the power that had been bestowed upon him, the king created a nation, under the sea, in the very depths where no one would look.

We are about to see history repeat.

At the end of the Seitei War, a Soga will destroy the entire Mikaboshi family with the Malediction but the nature of his “heroism” and Akemura himself will be buried like the existence of the Mikaboshi, all to preserve the clean legacy of the Japanese state.

Essentially, modern Japan, from Ukizane’s rebellion to Akemura’s extremism, were founded on a nationalistic lie to maintain stability.

The cycle repeats itself.

It is also a similar story to Bleach, where Yhwach escaped with his Quincy Empire, the Wandenreich a thousand years ago, hidden in the shadow dimension where no Soul Reaper could ever find them, waiting for the day their strength would grow and the enemy nation weakened.

Shiba sees that the old man is the only one left.

The old man asks Hiroto if he is a Soga

Then he reveals the identity of the Mikaboshi prince and delegate.

Aryu Mikaboshi, the son of the old man and the Crown Prince of the Mikaboshi.

Shiba states that the Prince killed two Japanese delegates and no one should ignore a warning, so the Japanese did what they did to protect themselves.

However, Shiba intends not to see anymore bloodshed, including the Mikaboshi elder, and asks if the elder is the King.

But the elder refuses to speak.

Suddenly, Mashiro has a hole on his left side as we see the supposedly dead Prince rise up.

However, Mashiro stands his ground and activates his Sorcery Akuu to push himself back while the others attack Aryu all at once.

In the forest, we see the three corner him, with Hiroto using his Sorcery, Kurotsuchi, creating a fissure on the earth to try and trap Aryu.

Hiroto manifests a black sphere behind him, which is the signature Sorcery of the Soga male line.

With one move from his sword, Hiroto plants Aryu to the ground.

However unlike most Sorcerer Clans, the Soga men have a harder time mastering their Sorcery, so most of them focus on swordsmanship and physical prowess, such as Akemura and Yoshinojo.

Hiroto is treated as a genius, being the only Soga man in this time to master Kurotsuchi.

Kurotsuchi seems to be the Soga’s equivalent of the Sazanami’s Isou, the secondary but more accessible inherited Sorcery, while Prophecy, the power of the clan figurehead (Princess), is like the Sazanami’s Storehouse.

We have two Sorcerer Clan with rare techniques that shape the politics and fate of Japan.

Seeing the black sphere and perhaps Hiroto’s resemblance to their ancient enemy  Ukizane, Aryu reflects on the promise of their sacred stone, refusing to let it fall to the enemy as the stone is what protects the Mikaboshi.

We see a flashback of a ritual in the center of the underwater kingdom, where Aryu passes through a crowd of worshippers, touching the cheek of a baby, while the other clansmen also make contact with Aryu’s cloak as he walks in procession to the Datenseki core.

And drink from a goblet of blood.

All the Mikaboshi men and women hold an innate affinity towards the Datenseki, making them immune to the explosive property that makes the stone unusable and unstable.

But among the clan, based on the purity of Mikaboshi blood (maybe in the incest sense too).

Six are chosen as the Datenseki’s Guardians.

They inherit the “primordial power” of the First Mikaboshi King.

 “Environmental Habitation”

The work of divine, in which a space devoid of light and air, becomes a space where human beings are capable of survival.

Something beyond just “body reinforcement”, an ability that transcends beyond the boundary of human comprehension itself.

This sounds like the Enchanted Blades’ “True Realm” and the power of the Datenseki and blood purity are the only ways to access it.

The chapter ends with Aryu activating his ability, Sumika.

Translation note: (dwelling, house, residence); kanji reading – 栖, refers to the NEST of an insect species; think spider den, beehive, “inhabitation” even.

This ability causes Aryu to float and have a white version of Akemura’s Centipede.

Now we have reinforced the origins of the Enchanted Blades.

Essentially, they were copies of the Six Mikaboshi power holders and Aryu is Akemura Soga’s predecessor, as the bearer of the strongest

The Lifelong Contracts were the substitute for the pure blood requirement and somehow, Kunishige’s expertise was also enough to create an equivalent substitute in exchange for removing one’s Sorcery when one is contracted.

But judging from Aryu, the Crown Prince and strongest Kagurabachi character in that moment, it looks like they needed to go beyond what the Lifelong Contracted Enchanted Blades offered, and the only path was the true realm of the successor of the first Mikaboshi King’s Sorcery, the Magatsumi.

Editor’s Note: “Incomparable levels of power.
