Did This Chapter Once Again Confirm Sanji is Lunarian? One Piece Chapter 1180 Early Spoilers!
Sanji vs Imu, a battle of flaming kicks! With Imu’s ability to light his legs on fire like Sanji and holding the Devil’s Fruit, is this a sign that Sanji is part-Lunarian?
In the previous One Piece chapter, St. Nerona Imu, the King of the World, descends upon Elbaph in the biggest showing of Conqueror’s Haki yet, revealing the power of the original Devil’s Fruit.
One Piece Chapter 1180 is titled, “Omen”
Imu arrives at Zoro’s group
Imu swings his weapon with such tremendous speed that nobody can even see it and attacks Gerd to free Sommers, cutting off some of Gerd’s fingers.
This enrages Hajrudin and he attacks Imu.
Zoro fights back using King of Hell: Oni Giri, but Imu blocks the attack with his tail.
Imu then creates a small black flame called Omen and throws it at Zoro’s face, leaving him bloodied.
Imu revives Sommers using Omen.
He then sprouts black wings from his back and takes flight.
Next, Imu appears before Sanji’s group and revives Killingham, once again using Omen.
Sanji attacks Imu with a kick, but Imu blocks it with his leg.
Imu retaliates with a kick infused with black flames from his own legs, triggering a powerful explosion.
Sommer’s face is changed its not funny/disgusting anymore.
Imu’s Height
In our hints, we assumed that Imu was Ancient Giant height due to the size of Aurust Castle and its windows and doors being bigger than even the Ancient Giants.
However, it looks like Imu’s height might be another hint towards his possible Lunarian origins.
Imu is about the size of a large human like Whitebeard.
Keep in mind that Big Mom is the biggest one at 8.8 meters and she is still barely half the size of a Giant.
Whitebeard himself is 6.66 meters but Kuma, a Buccaneer, a hybrid between a human and a Giant, is only 6.89 meters in height
It appears that Imu is around that height range, closer to Whitebeard than he is to a regular Giant or even Loki.
This means that the final page, where he confronts Loki in his regular Ancient Giant form, is a typical man vs giant matchup.
Loki is 60 meters and if Imu is only 6 meters tall, then he is still quite small but also quite deadly.
However, this is also a potential hint to him being a Lunarian.
King is 6.13 meters, which is shorter than Whitebeard but he seems to be the average Lunarian with amazing powers due to his experience and Pteranodon Devil Fruit.
In his Hybrid form, he remains the same height.
In fact, his Devil Fruit barely changes his already massive height.
If Imu is closer in height but shorter than Big Mom, then he might be one of the taller Lunarians
Omen: The Black Flames of Hell
We see a new power from the Devil’s Fruit: Omen.
It feels specifically tied to the Devil’s Fruit because this flame, like Imu’s other spells, do multiple things.
Omen is a black flame and flame projection is an ability of the Lunarian race.
Furthermore, these flames empower Imu’s demonic followers, giving them wings that were not present among the Domi Reversi Demons.
This is akin to Yhwach from Bleach, whose Auswahlen transfers the life energy of other Quincy to empower his elite guard and give them Vollstandig wings.
If Omen is the “flame of passion” that gives life and power, then it is possible that Imu is beyond a “Devil Fruit” user.
He might as well be the origin of the Devil’s Fruit itself, having the means to possibly share not only in his demonic nature but also in his Lunarian one?
Imu vs Sanji Confirms Sanji’s Lunarian Roots?
It is interesting that Imu chooses to block Sanji’s kick with his own leg.
And it is also too coincidental that Imu lights his own legs on fire.
Is it the power of hate, the opposite of Sanji’s burning passion (love) that fuels this leg flame?
A leg fighting style that triggers flames.
Is Imu the origin of Sanji’s own genetics somehow or connected to it?
Or perhaps this is an ancient art of Lunarian origin.
Furthermore, Sanji named his abilities after the Devil.
Diable Jambe is French for “Devil’s Leg” while Ifrit Jambe, the blue flames, come from the Islamic djinn based on the Christian Devil.
A being of smokeless fire and it so happens that Ifrit is a fallen being.
It feels like this whole confrontation, like Queen vs Sanji, is awakening more secrets for Sanji.
Will Oda finally answer this lingering question in the Elbaph Arc?
