Jojo’s Bizarre Adventure Weekly Release Schedule Is Back

After weeks of protest and frustration, Jojo’s Bizarre Adventure: Steel Ball Run is about to get a weekly release schedule.

On April 6, 2026, a week after the AnimeJapan 2026 trailer for Jojo’s Bizarre Adventure: Steel Ball Run, Netflix has officially announced their final plan for the series.

Jojo’s Bizarre Adventure will follow a split-cour release.

In the message, they have stated that the 2nd Stage is the “second cour” of Jojo’s Bizarre Adventure: Steel Ball Run, as if treating the 47-minute long premiere, released on March 19th, as its own cour.

The 2nd Stage will premiere in Fall 2026 and after Episode 2, it will follow a weekly release schedule.

For the first time since Stone Ocean’s release on December 1, 2021, Jojo’s Bizarre Adventure will follow the normal weekly release schedule rather than the batch release that has killed the hype for the series.

Following this, it is likely that the 2nd Stage will be divided into 12 proper episodes, making it 13 in total.

While Netflix has stated that this release schedule was part of their original plan from the very beginning and “reflects the wishes of the production committee”, which they and Warner Bros. are a part of, the fact that this was announced a week after the 2nd Cour trailer suggests otherwise.

Ever since the trailer’s release and even from the very first announcement of a Steel Ball Run anime being confirmed, the fandom has consistently demanded for the weekly release, spamming in various social media platforms and particularly on Youtube.

This appears to be akin to the Fate/Strange Fake situation, where a special-length premiere was released before an official schedule was decided, implying production issues or conflicts with scheduling.

Furthermore, one of the anime directors, Kimura, did state that he did not know when the anime will be releasing its next episode, indicating that this statement is only hiding the true causes of the confirmation and leans more to the idea that the demand has forced them to lock in on a specific plan to present to international audiences, one that was intended to meet and satisfy their demands.

Episode Prediction

The 2nd Stage covers Chapter 12: “First Stage: Disqualified from Victory” to Chapter 28: “Scary Monsters, Part 1”, which is 17 chapters long and over 3 volumes: Volume 3: “Second Stage: Arizona Desert Crossing” to the start of Volume 6: “Scary Monsters”, the 83rd to 86th volumes of the entire franchise.

With the first 24 chapters being weekly and on average 30 pages each, this is a new type of pacing for the Jojo’s anime.

Considering that the double-length episode adapted 11 chapters and reached 340 pages, a full episode is at most half of that length.

Jojo episodes usually adapt 3 chapters, each having 19 pages, meaning a total of 57 pages will be adapted.

As a basic prediction:

Episode 2 will cover Chapters 12 and 13 since this will be the start of the Second Stage.

Episode 3 will cover Chapter 14 and 15 or possibly all the way to 17 to cover the whole Boom Boom Family fight.

If this is the case, Episode 4 will cover the Devil’s Palm encounter and finish off the Boom Boom Family with Chapter 18 all the way to all or the first half of Chapter 20.

Episode 4 will focus on Gyro’s flashback and cover Chapter 21 to 23, finishing off the fight with Oyecomova.

Episode 5 may go any way but will adapt Chapter 24 to 25, for a total of 91 pages.

Episode 6 will finish the Tusk arc, ending on Chapter 27, for a total of 123 pages.

Episode 7 will likely start the Scary Monsters Arc, ending on Chapter 29, for a total of 124 pages.

This is the end of the 2nd Stage, with quite a cliffhanger to set up the next arc.

Within all of these episodes, some of the extra chapters can be covered, although it would make more sense to move Funny Valentines backstory somewhere else but it is fairly short at 5 pages so it can be added within the batch.

This could mean that the split-cour will really divide the Part into the nine stages, with 6 episodes covering the 2nd Stage.

This does make more sense as a proper sense of division while giving time for less tightened production.

The 3rd and 4th stages are quite short.

The 3rd Stage is the entire Scary Monsters Arc (Chapters 29 to 31)

Episode 8 will finish the Scary Monsters arc, ending on Chapter 31 for a total of 129 pages.

The 4th Stage is the entire A Man’s World Arc (Chapter 32 to 35), the Green Tomb Arc (Chapter 36 to 37), and the Catch the Rainbow Arc (Chapter 38 to 39).

This means that the 4th stage will cover Episodes 9 to 11.

The 5th Stage is the entire In A Silent Way Arc (Chapter 40 to 44).

This will likely cover 2 episodes, Episodes 12 to 13.

Perhaps the “2nd Stage” label is less about the Steel Ball Run Race and more about the proper split-cour division, which is normally around 12 to 13 episodes.

It is very likely that with this pacing and the Steel Ball Run manga being 95 chapters, we can see a return to the 26-episode Jojo season, akin to the first two seasons covering the first two Parts of the manga.
