Dragon Ball: Beerus Remake Coming This Year
Alongside the new Moro Arc anime coming up, Dragon Ball Super will also remake its first arc that introduces the God of Destruction Beerus
On January 25, 2026, during the 40th anniversary celebration, Dragon Ball Genkidamatsuri, it was announced that there will be a remake of the “Dragon Ball Z: Battle of Gods” film
This announcement came after the first panel, which released a special 40th anniversary video with music from Hans Zimmer and the reveal of the Moro Arc adaptation.
The key visual features Goku’s Super Saiyan God form and Beerus behind him.
The trailer shows all the main plot beats: Beerus waking up after a 39-year slumber, Goku fighting and failing to stop Beerus and Shenron revealing the secret of the Super Saiyan God form, requiring five righteous Saiyans to join hands, resulting in Goku’s new form.
This version will have updated visual quality matching the recent adaptations, with the style resembling Dragon Ball: Daima.
Originally a film released in March 30, 2013, the Battle of Gods film was later remade in 2015 as the first story arc of the Dragon Ball Super (DBS) anime (Episodes 1–15) and manga (Chapters 1-4), known as the God of Destruction Beerus Saga.
This means there are three distinct versions of the same story, with the remake creating a fourth version.
While the movie is praised for its quality animation and good usage of CGI, the anime adaptation has been criticized for inconsistent art, poor animation quality, stretched-out pacing and barely any important additions, outside of some character moments.
