CHIHIRO AND SAMURA VS YURA BEGINS!!!! Kagurabachi Chapter 101 Spoilers!
The long-awaited second three-way Enchanted Blade battle! Tobimune and Enten vs the STRONGEST, most evil Enchanted Blade Magatsumi will break the internet!
In the previous Kagurabachi chapter, the Sword Saint, Soga Akemura, is revealed to be Chihiro’s uncle and Yura proposes an alliance between the two like-minded extremists.
Kagurabachi Chapter 101 is titled, “Safe Zone”
Editor’s note: “With all their might..!”
The chapter begins with Yura kicking away Azami and holding his head up with the handle of the Shinuchi.
The Safe Zone and Kagurabachi’s Attack on Titan Psychology
We shift to the Barrierkeeper talking to Izaru about the state of the barrier.
Thanks to Yukisada’s interference, the barrier has two Vessels, with Yukisada preventing Enchanted Blades from being used and also prevents communication because two separate Barrier Vessels causes electrical interference and thus prevents communication from the outside, as established in Chapter 97: “The Vessel”.
This seems to exclude the Magatsumi as Yura was able to lend its power without retrieving the Enchanted Blade itself first but more than likely, it is because the blade was already inside.
This clearly shows how well-executed Yura’s plan to infiltrate Kamunabi Headquarters really was.
Meanwhile, while heavily injured, Hagiwara remarks that if they do not kill Yukisada, the Enchanted Blades outside will not be able to enter but seeing how the others have been injured by Yura’s Shinuchi flowers, Hagiwara realizes they lack the time to figure things out.
So the main Barrierkeeper proposes a solution: that Izaru kill him.
Although killing the Barrierkeeper will relinquish control of the barrier over to Yukisada of the Hishaku and still enforce the ban on Enchanted Blades, at least they will be able to contact reinforcements, mainly Shiba and Hiyuki, who are guarding the remaining two Sansos holding Subaru and the female Enchanted Blade wielder.
At the end of the last chapter, it is implied that Shiba was guarding Subaru, the older sushi chef, judging from the place being a sushi bar.
Once again, we see the telephone from the end of last chapter, indicating its importance to the chapter’s plot.
We see that while the Barrierkeeper proposed this idea, he expresses two contrary desires: serving the country and his inmost goal, earning money.
This feels a bit like Hokazono channeling one of his core inspirations: Attack on Titan, the idea of external vs internal motivations (Eren Jaeger, the protagonist, having the external desire to destroy the outside world to save his friends and island from extinction and the deeper, internal, real desire to seek the empty plain of absolute freedom away from the island).
The Barrierkeeper has only known poverty and so money is everything to him.
At the same time, he tells Izaru externally that he is willing to sacrifice himself for the country and people.
Internally, however, he reveals his frustration with the Barrierkeeper selection process, that he actually bluffed his way to becoming the Barrierkeeper and was a coward who was too afraid to stick his neck out in the battlefield, which could be why he chose the seemingly less dangerous path of being a Barrierkeeper.
This is why the chapter is titled “Safe Zone” because the Barrierkeeper believed he was in the safest zone possible, for two years, at the cost of his ability to reproduce.
A man who lived only with poverty sacrificed his ability to nurture the future so his present circumstances can be better.
Izaru worries about the barrierkeeper since the latter was going to use the money for his surgical procedure to restore his organs after his term ends.
It’s a sad fate but the Barrierkeeper is forcing to maintain his honor, knowing that if he does not sacrifice himself, he will see more people dead and his already torn conscience and immense self-pity will weigh him down.
Perhaps the compensation would cover both the surgery and a solid retirement and the deal would be worth it since, after all, the Barrierkeeper has only known poverty all his life, so to work for the country for a paycheck that can still secure him will be worth it.
Perhaps if he dies here, the money will go to his family.
It is clear the man is doing this for the sake of a higher cause and a guarantee for a safe future for himself at the same time but the reason he chooses to die for a higher cause is because he cannot live with the guilt his selfishness will cause.
This is quite an Attack on Titan moment right here, where he is momentarily holding off his primal desire for self-preservation for a higher cause, for someone else to make the choice.
As Erwin and Eren have.
Suddenly, Hokuto emerges and prepares to take on Izaru to prevent this plot.
Hakuri’s Smartest Play and Evolved Sorcery
Hagiwara saw everything through his electromagnetic reading and explains the Barrierkeeper’s plan to kill himself to ensure they can restore communications at the cost of giving the Hishaku control over the barrier.
Hagiwara asks Hakuri if he summoned a sword and if he could bring out something from 140 meters below them.
Hagiwara insists, saying that watching people getting murdered all around you is a living hell.
Just like how the Barrierkeeper was feeling earlier.
Processing the deathly state of his comrades, Hakuri locks in and follows Hagiwara’s finger.
In the Barrier chamber, blobs seem to spawn behind the Barrierkeeper and he vanishes, much to Izaru and Hokuto’s surprise.
It seems that Storehouse was able to store a living person inside its dimension without registering them by marking them with Spirit Energy.
Or perhaps Hakuri was able to send his Spirit Energy through the iron dust to bridge the two people and enable registration.
Either way, Hakuri has truly levelled up in spite of the damage to his Sorcery nerves.
Is This the Arc’s Final Battle?
The phone rings in the sushi bar.
We cut to the Underground Prison where Azami exclaims that “he” is late.
Yura is surprised since the Enchanted Blades should be barred from entry.
Behind him is Togo Shiba and he teleports Yura outside Kamunabi headquarters, above the air.
Even being left up in the air, Yura still has that aura.
We see a flashback of Azami speaking with a younger Chihiro as he presently thinks that he refuses to leave the seventh Enchanted Blade unchecked, which is why he denies his own pursuit of revenge for his friend Kunishige
In the present, we see Chihiro reflect on his goal of revenge and fighting for his father’s convictions.
The chapter ends on PURE, UNADULTERATED AURA!
Samura and Chihiro stand together, arriving on Samura’s Crow and Chihiro’s Aka: Crow respectively.
We are about to witness the second three-way Enchanted Blade clash, this time with two Blades working together against the strongest, Magatsumi.
Can Chihiro and Samura together beat Yura and end the Hishaku’s reign of terror once and for all?
Editor’s note: “If you can’t enter the barrier, just bring them out..! A battle between the Enten, the Tobimune, and the Shinuchi.. Now begins!”
Kagurabachi Chapter 102 will be released on November 24, 2025.
