SAKAMOTO DAYS © 2020 by Yuto Suzuki/SHUEISHA Inc.

In the previous Sakamoto Days chapter, Lu takes on the police officer that attempts to kill the unconscious Sakamoto.

Days 227 is titled, “Resolve”

This chapter is 19 pages.

Editor’s note: “With unyielding determination, Lu faces the mysterious Officer to protect Sakamoto but…”

The chapter begins with Lu kicking down the officer but the man stands up and brings out his weapon, noting Lu smells of alcohol and asks if she is underage, which Lu considers a compliment.

Shin sees the crowd try to get in the truck but Granny Miya plows through them, telling Shin to let Lu handle the officer and not waste her sacrifice.

At the same time, Granny Miya also chooses to sacrifice herself.

Boiled refuses to leave a girl and an old woman behind but Wutang tells Boiled to keep driving and not squander his mistress’ resolve.

Granny Miya and Lu face off against the policeman, who laments not reaching his target.

One hitman attempts to stab the old lady but she breaks his arm, takes his knife and stabs him on the throat.

Although she notes that healing is her specialty, Granny Miya finds destroying easier.

The officer says he will have to force Miya to revoke her license but the 98-year-old woman says that her assassination license was expired 10 years ago, when she was 88 years old, meaning she might not stop herself from killing.

Suddenly, she quickly throws needles on the officer’s left arm, freezing his body.

Granny Miya plants the needles precisely on his pressure points and attempts to cut his neck.

However, the officer relaxes his neck to lessen the damage, which made Granny impressed with the police officers in Japan.

The man explains his motivations: being a cop is hard.

He has the power to end lives but must control himself even when killing is necessary.

For any killing to be deemed necessary, it must be under the banner of justice and it is frustrating because all killing is driven on instinct in the first place.

The officer fully unsheathes his weapon, revealing it to be a sasumata, a device originally used by Japanese samurai and their retainers and now by police and law enforcement that allows them to immobilize criminals without harming them or the user.

Spikes can be attached in order to make them more lethal.

The officer strikes and with an opening, Granny Miya stabs the man’s cheeks but the officer bites down on the needle to destroy it and prepares to strike the old woman down.

Lu fortunately rescues her and has sobered up after realizing that she drank too much while on an empty stomach and is feeling queasy.

The officer pins her down to the ground with the sasumata and Granny Miya tells Lu to vomit as she throws her lighter in front of Lu so that the alcohol could turn into flames against the officer, burning him.

However, like the masked man in Chapter 225: “Protecting What Matters”, this policeman is fireproof, confirming that assassins or candidates for the job are built a little different from regular humans.

Now the officer declares that he will sentence the two women to death for obstruction of justice.

Editor’s note: “The duo of Lu and Granny Miya bursts into action!!”

Sakamoto Days Chapter 228 will be released on September 8, 2025.
