THE ULTIMATE MONSTER TRIO! One Piece Chapter 1162 Full Spoilers!

In the previous One Piece chapter, we witnessed Garp’s demonic aura farming against three Emperors and how Rayleigh saved Shakky from Sommers.

One Piece Chapter 1162 is titled, “G-B-V-R (God Valley: Battle Royale)”.

This chapter has 17 pages.

This is the final part of the Yamoto cover story, Volume 44 of the Oni Child Yamato’s Golden Harvest Surrogate Pilgrimage, where Yamato returns to the Flower Capital and reunites with the others.

“To Sir Luffy, another peaceful day passes in Wanokuni!”

We can see Yamato and Momonosuke eating oden ingredients on a stick.

We also see Kinemon looking suspiciously at Ulti, as if he does not quite trust Yamato’s new companions.

Why Garp Hated Being Called a Hero of the Marines

The chapter begins with the Roger Pirates pointing out the treasures in the center of the island.

It seems the Celestial Dragons have been evacuated, with the Tournament now cancelled.

The Marine bring up that Rocks is clashing with Garling.

Roger points out that if they turn back, they will clash with Rocks but if they go forward, they will face the Marines.

When they see Rayleigh carrying Shakky away to escape from God Valley, Shiki stops the other pirates from attacking Rayleigh since it may harm Shakky too while Whitebeard tells the pirates to go after the treasures on the island to allow the two safe passage through the chaos.

What gentlemen it seems.

As they run, Rayleigh is about to confess but Shakky tells him that there is no need as she already knows.

She smiles happily while being carried off.

Meanwhile, we replay the events of Chapter 1096 once more as Big Mom finds the two fruits, Kuma’s Nikyu Nikyu No Mi and the Uo Uo no Mi: Model Azure Dragon.

Ivankov and Kuma both appear in this chapter — some scenes are flashbacks from Chapter 1096, others are new.

The fighting goes on as a pirate that seemingly resembles Marco (who would be 7 years old at this time since he is currently 45) kicking Kyou.

Meanwhile, we see that Garp is furious and horrified by the number of civilian deaths on the island. 

He even calls Sengoku, questioning if he knows what is really happening there.

It seems that even Garp did not accept what was happening, angered that the Celestial Dragons have been responsible for this much carnage.

Garp questions the truth behind what’s happening; Sengoku’s response hints that someone once raised this same doubt before—but later disappeared from the Navy.

Intriguing.

So there was another Marine who doubted before the Monkey Family did.

Garp exclaims that this does not feel like a dream and this migth be the first time he has witnessed a genocide at the hands of the Celestial Dragons

Fraud-land Garling

Meanwhile, we see Rocks flee with Eris and Teach escape, carrying them with his right arm to put them on his back.

However, chasing after them is Garling and his Knights of God, together with demons created from the Davy Clan.

It seems that Garling and his Knights can also use Abyss to create demons, rather than have Imu personally intervene like in Elbaph.

There are still more mysteries to the dark magic used by Imu to create immortal demons.

Rocks notices that the demons are immortal and is surprised, meaning this is his first encounter with such beings.

Rocks is shocked to see that his own father and grandmother have been turned into demons as well.

Garling is quite injured, surprised that his regeneration has been slowed down.

Ah yes, Rocks was the original king of offscreening before Blackbeard.

However, the Holy Knight lady with long black hair remarks that they found out Xebec was part of the Davy Clan, which means killing him will please the Great Imu.

Garling notes that the Tournament’s interruption is a blessing in disguise.

Eris insists that Xebec let go of her but Xebec points out that anyone with the Davy name that is caught will suffer a fate that makes hell look tame by comparison.

Eris says that she knows that, especially since she has become a full-fledged member of the Davy Clan, who welcomed her in spite of being a pirate.

Eris goes as far as to say that if she was the type of woman who would need to cling to her husband and be unable to protect a single child, then Xebec would not have fallen for her.

A remark that made Xebec blush.

After being put down, Eris says she is willing to kill herself and Teach if she gets caught but she plans for the three to split up, with Teach and Eris heading for Lulusia.

Was Lulusia Eris’ home or a hiding place for the Davy Clanb?

I covered in the early spoilers how making Lulusia significant to the plot might cause issues.

This is because Imu’s reckless, uncaring whim would have made the Lulusia Incident more horrifying, rather than be an intentional act of revenge against the Davy Clan.

By targeting a nearby Kingdom that, with Imu’s current knowledge, remained loyal to the World Government, Imu reveals his callous nature, using no other justification than the need to see a test result.

Anyway, we see Garling charge towards Xebec, looking fully recovered and delighted to see the man ditch his wife and child.

Xebec laments being the one who is rescued in this situation.

He slashes and seemingly causes the God Valley itself to be split and also offscreen his second battle.

Yes, Oda must be aware of the offscreen in this family.

Big Mom’s Biggest L

Meanwhile, outside Storeroom One, we see Charlotte Linlin raising up the Azure Dragon fruit and declaring that she will have an overwhelmingly powerful future crew as it is revealed that it was originally intended for her son Charlotte Katakuri.

Kaido appears out of nowhere and hits Linlin in the face with his kanabo – Hassaikai, and snatches the Devil Fruit, eating it immediately.

Now his face finally resembles his inaccurate silhouette from when the Four Emperors were first mentioned by Garp.

Now Kaido uses the chaos of God Valley to test out his new Devil Fruit.

We see two parental figures: Dragon with Shanks and Eris with her son Teach fleeing God Valley, saying the same thing to the kids, that they will not let them die.

This feels so influenced by the anime as we see this type of thing a lot recently.

The Emergence of Nika?

The chaos unfolds.

Pirates continue looting, civilians suffer casualties, and Garp is too paralyzed by the atrocities from both sides.

Pirates exploit the chaos and misery imposed by the system and Garp realizes here, at the young age of 40, that nothing makes sense anymore, even Justice.

He realizes he is a cog in a system protecting the interests of the oppressive ruling class.

Saturn watches from atop a hill, safe from all the carnage.

Imu telepathically communicates with him, asking if Rocks is dead.

So apparently, he needs a Den Den Mushi Snail to talk to the group, even if the Five Elders and Imu themselves have a telepathic group chat.

Or perhaps it saves energy or is a human habit.

But the fact that Imu is telepathically connected to all Abyss bearers is another example of the corruption of government in general, where they have unconsented surveillance of our daily activities.

In Chainsaw Man, Makima does this with animals.

In One Piece, certain government agents, especially the more exclusive and even more reclusive Holy Knights of God, are given a portion of Imu’s immortality and power, possibly even portions of his essence, which is why Imu does not do this to Cp0, his most trusted and yet most proactive agency of international sabotage.

Saturn says that Rocks is still alive and that things have gone beyond their expectations.

He also worries that if they keep up this destruction, something else will be unleashed.

This coincides with the frame of Kaido using his Devil Fruit for the first time, a dragon rising from God Valley.

It is so poetic in many ways.

The dragon is a symbol of wisdom in the East but One Piece also has Western devils (Imu) and both entities are in this chapter.

However, the dragon rising from the island has two meanings: the Eastern Azure Dragon awakening to enlightenment as a new being after a disappointing mundane life or youth in Kaido’s case, and the Evil Serpent Satan rising up to challenge God (the Sun).

And the last bit has two meanings in it since God in One Piece is Imu, the World itself, but the real god formed from the hearts of the oppressed is Joy Boy, who Kaido is defeated by.

Kaido also initially wanted to become Joy Boy but eventually realized that the one who will defeat him, who will defeat “the world” itself that he represents as the tyrant of Wano, is the true Joy Boy, the true god of freedom.

Perhaps Saturn might be referring to the Nika Fruit itself emerging amidst this despair.

If you look at Dragon and Garp’s reactions, how Oda highlights the brutality of the incident at the hands of the Celestial Dragons, it is clear that this event is an unspeakable atrocity that should never have happened at all.

God Valley, the proud name of those who refuse to stand with the current god of One Piece, is also the place where that majority god dominates and crushes them, as he will do to Elbaph in the present day.

Here is yet another coincidence on the topic of the Sun God.

Kuma uses his powers to heal many injured civilians.

Dragon saved Kuma by tranquilizing a Celestial Dragon, which in turn allows Kuma to use his “hands of liberation” to save many lives.

Often in the God Valley segment of the Rocks flashback, we cut to the wide shot of the island to show a Haki clash or the people screaming in despair, but now we see a Haki clash (from Imu’s emergence later on) and the words of gratitude from people who once thought they had no hope.

Kuma and Kaido, two people on opposing lanes morally, find the same hope that would bring meaning to their respective suffering.

Kuma was abused as a Buccaneer slave, seeking death like those in God Valley and the slaves under the Celestial Dragons everywhere but now he has the Hands of Liberation to take suffering and heal broken bodies.

Kaido, who suffered the curse of a seemingly immortal body, being feared as a monster, used and abused by everyone around him for his strength, now gives meaning to that strength by acquiring the Azure Dragon’s wisdom and power.

A new beginning.

Imu vs the Original Monster Trio

Garp, Roger, and Rocks.

The three leaders of the “Justice”-seeking Marines, Shakky-rescuing Roger Pirates and divisive greedy Rocks Pirates, look at the Haki emerging, an unusual sight for these experienced fighters who have faced each other in this golden age.

Garling and the remaining Davy family members, who have turned into demons, fight against Rocks but in the end, Rocks defeats them all.

We see Garling collapse, coughing blood.

Previously, he had his brains exposed but now he is down for the count.

Looks like Shanks has escaped the nepo-baby allegations as he is stronger by himself, all the hardwork and natural Haki aptitude.

Of course, Garling will have a fragment of Imu or maybe his own Devil Fruit for all we know but for now, it seems like this chapter has utterly erased Garling’s aura and made him look like a bum by comparison.

Rocks’ attacks cause the enemy’s regeneration to slow down, which he has shown with Garling.

These are similar to how Gaban’s attacks affected Sommers in the present story.

I posited before in the added spoilers that God Valley must have taught the Roger Pirates how to cancel the immortality of the Holy Knights.

Perhaps this is how Saul knew that all the Holy Knights are immortal since no one would survive seeing their clandestine activities.

Rocks admits to Whitebeard and Kaido, who is now in his dragon form, that they gain nothing by siding with him.

However, Newgate says that he has always been drinking on his tab, revealing that while he finds Rocks annoying, he actually owes the man a debt of gratitude.

Perhaps Rocks was his first experience of family outside of his people in Sphinx and, if anything, the chaotic environment of the Rocks Pirates both made him cautious but also encouraged his desire to build his own family.

Maybe Rocks was that original parental figure Whitebeard had in mind.

Kaido meanwhile expresses joy, showing off his new power to the two he most idolized.

Marineford might have been Kaido’s attempt to join the ruckus or save Whitebeard.

But Shanks stopped him in the name of balance.

In spite of the Rocks Pirates turning their backs on Rocks himself, in spite of betraying each other, with Kaido turning on Big Mom, this MONSTER TRIO chose to fight together, laughing as comrades.

The Marines are stunned by Saturn’s new form, since they have never seen his gyuki (yokai spider) form before and this is a new, darker version, courtesy of Imu possessing his body.

While Garp is panicking over the hellish sights in God Valley, on top of the civilian casualties, Roger is optimistic, amazed by how much he still does not know.

It would be really funny if Imu, the incarnation of evil in One Piece, possibly the incarnation of Mother Sea, which intends to swallow up the world and all Devil Fruit users, inspired Roger to pursue the voyage for the One Piece.

The chapter ends with Rocks looking at Imu and saying: “This is the world itself.”

Will we see three sides join forces to fight against the world itself?

This is indeed the epic battle royale lost to time: Pirates and the Hero of the Navy against the God of this world.
