Loki’s Demon Birth Could Change The Way We Think About Devil Fruits! One Piece Chapter 1153 Full Spoilers!
Loki may have had a tragic birth, with fate playing against him at every turn, but what if he was a reborn demon after all, maybe even the Hellfire Serpent of Elbaph Myth and not the Sun God

In the previous One Piece chapter, we learn about Shanks’ ties to the Holy Knights and begin the Elbaph flashback with Harald’s wicked past.
One Piece Chapter 1153 is titled, “The Birth of Loki”.
This chapter has 17 pages.
We continue with the Yamato cover story with Volume 37 of the Oni Child Yamato’s Golden Harvest Surrogate Pilgrimage as Yamato and Kikunojo run towards and embrace each other at Ringo as the Yakuza boss O-Cho watches.
Kiku is now Daimyo of Ringo, thus completing the five Daimyos revealed in the cover story since Volume 10, consisting of 5 of the Akazaya Nine: Denjiro of Kibi, former Zou Duke Inuarashi of Kuri, Raizo of Udon, and Kawamatsu of Hakumai and now Kiku of Ringo.
Could Kiku, a transwoman, be the first female Daimyo of a region?
It is also quite a sight to see the two being close considering their LGBT representation.
Harald’s First Love
The chapter begins with a flashback of Harald’s childhood with Dorry and Brogy.
Harald was born so much stronger and bigger than the others that he became spoiled.
While lying down on his boat, Harald flicked a booger to destroy another boat.
In a human town, a female Giant named Ida was seemingly captured and used as a circus show attraction.
She looks different from most girls Oda draws, having freckles on her face, thick lips, a seeming lack of eyebrows and sporting a ponytail, yet she is still a fairly pretty woman.
The panel shows a mix of reactions, from a woman running away to a couple dancing while Ida tries to scare them off from her cage.
Harald spots them through a telescope and so he destroys the town and frees her offscreen.
But upon bringing back the rescued Giantess, Harald receives a slap from Ida, much to his men’s surprise.
Ida explains that the humans who “captured” her actually saved her when she was shipwrecked and she worked for them willingly as thanks.
Ida reminds Harald that he is no better than anyone else just because he was born strong.
Harald returns to the town and rebuilds it with Ida, which the humans thank the Giants for.
Ida also forces Harald to apologize and bow his head to the king.
After a night of partying with the kingdom, Harald would later travel and meet a tribe.
But unlike how last chapter ended, Harald does not rampage and instead gives them a giant shark for them to feast on.
He now has an interest in other human cultures and strives to be a better person.
From Ida, he learned not to let “might make right” or else this would cause misunderstandings.
Thanks to Ida, not only did Harald amend his ways with the town he destroyed but he also changed for the better, becoming a lot more cheerful but not at the expense of others.
Upon returning home to Elbaph, the King declared to his people his intention to open the country up and to make Elbaph more pacifistic, much to the surprise of the Elders, including Jarul and Jorul, the former captains of the Giant Warrior Pirates.
We do see there are four other elders, kept to the shadows.
Could they be the inhabitants of the first level, the Celestial or Heaven World? Or are they also residents of the Sun World and something made the upper level uninhabitable?
These elders do not approve of Harald’s intention to marry Ida.
While, Ida lives in a village in the Sun World, Harald would begin opening the country’s doors to other nations, including Ryugu Kingdom in Fishman Island.
Some years later, Ida gave birth to Hajrudin but Harald was arranged by giant elders to marry “Estrida”, the daughter of a high positioned giant from Alcohol Village in the northern part of Elbaph (of the branches of Treasure Tree Adam, assuming).
Loki’s Tragic Birth and the Eyes of a Demon
Estrida was a very beautiful giant woman dressed with dancer clothes (similar to Nami and Vivi in Arabasta).
Estrida was obsessed with “Di Feng” (probably the One Piece version of “Feng Shui”) so she ordered to close or open windows to certain rooms and change the furniture in the castle to align with the belief.
Because of Di Feng, Estrida claims to be destined to be loved and cherished by the King of Elbaph and tells him to forget Ida, who lives in the East, and their son Hajrudin.
We also see Estrida present Harald with the eight-legged horse Sleipnir.
For those who know Norse myth, Sleipnir is Loki’s child and was made Odin’s steed.
Some time later, while Harald was overseas,Estrida gave birth to Loki, a baby with demonic slit eyes similar to Sauron.
This caused Estrida to panic and decide to throw Loki down to the Underworld.
She also brings up the prophecy that this boy is destined to kill his own father, Harald.
So the prophecy and superstition regarding Loki’s demonic features came from one place: Di Feng.
Loki’s unusual eyes could be the result of something happening or perhaps Imu being correct in Chapter 1150: “Domi Reversi”, that the original or best form of beings is that of a Demon.
The demonic Giants resemble the Ancient Giants but with wings and tails, so could there be a connection to Harald’s Ancient Giant blood and demons, thus resulting in a Giant with demonic eyes?
Since we brought up Sleipnir, Chapter 1138: “The Harley” introduced us to the Hellfire Serpent, which some think is either the Red Line or another primordial demon that could be based on the Midgard or World Serpent Jörmungandr.
Perhaps Loki received an extract from a Devil Fruit at some point but we do not know any figures that would do that, so more than likely, Loki either had a genetic condition with no actual meaning to the story besides a lesson of not judging appearance and child trauma or something with special powers like Pudding or a connection to the Demon race.
Considering Kaido’s backstory and similar appearance to the Ancient Giants, which he replicated with disappointing results via the Numbers, that link is getting tighter.
Some also theorize that Loki is not the only one with these eyes.
Who else in the One Piece is constantly concealing his eyes and is an embodiment of evil?
Donquixote Doflamingo.
Both men are chained and gleefully await the end of the current world.
However, it appears Loki could break this stigma as he chooses to save Elbaph in spite of being demonized by them.
The real demon is not some idealized form of power but the wickedness in the human heart.
The Curse of Loki
She panicked and decided to throw Loki down to the Underworld.
Then Estrida ordered the servants to tell king Harald that the baby was born dead.
Then, in the final double page of the chapter, we see baby Loki crying while crawling up from the bottom of the Treasure Tree Adam, having been injured because he fought against some of the beasts from the Underworld.
The chapter ends on Harald lamenting the way other countries are separated from each other and not being free because the World Government keeps getting in the way, showing that he already knew the ugly truth about it.
Ida dotes on her child Hajrudin, who does not want to associate with a brother that is not his mother’s child.
She would have been a much better mother for Loki.
Estrida’s introduction already felt suffocating and while Ida is framed as a more modest woman, her kind heart was clearly expressed through the art and that was what Harald loved the most.
The narrator ends on the chapter, saying that every disaster that befalls Elbaph from these moments onward is now credited as part of “Loki’s Curse”.
Unfortunately, there will be a BREAK NEXT WEEK. One Piece Chapter 1154 will be released on July 14, 2025.
