Franky might have uncovered the OLDEST LIVING SECRET so far in the One Piece world.

In the previous One Piece chapter, Luffy easily defeats Loki while God’s Knights reveal their true powers as they play their game with the deadly children of Elbaph.

One Piece Chapter 1144 is titled, “Warrior Time”.

This chapter has 15 pages.

We return to the “Ogre Child Yamato’s Golden Harvest Surrogate Pilgrimage” cover story with Volume 29, where we see Yamato and Tama defeat the rest of Who’s Who’s crew.

Tama is now with Minamoto, who is crying from being kidnapped, while Yamato, now with Yasuie’s sword, is talking with the girls.

The First World War: A Robot Older than Emet!

The chapter begins with Franky and Ripley arriving at a strange building which is made from the remains of an ancient giant robot but it is surrounded by plants, showing how much time passed and how the robot and area have been long abandoned by the Giants.

Franky wonders why a country of warriors would have this place and Ripley says that the ancient Iron Giant is 3,000 YEARS OLD!

Being younger than the Treasure Tree Adam but so much older than Emeth, does this mean that this Giant is one of the last remnants of the First World?

The advanced, almost modern utopian technology Vegapunk wanted to recover was not a thousand years old but far, far older and we have our first sign of it here!

Could this Iron Giant be Nika’s comrade, the same way Emet was for Joy Boy 800 years ago!

It seems Franky might be the MVP of the Elbaph Arc instead of Usopp, who is set up as the lead for the arc since Little Garden, where the Giants and their ideas were introduced.

If the Ancient Iron Giant awakens like Emet did for Egghead, we might learn more about the First World just as Egghead was our window into the Second World via Emet.

Is it possible, then, that the next arc will lead us into the current Third World that Luffy is about to realize as the new Sun God Nika?

This is all interesting timing as Chapter 1044, 100 chapters ago on Wano, we saw the return of Gear 5 through Luffy.

This robot is the FIRST potentially living sign of the First World, just as Luffy was the Sun God’s reawakening in the Third World.

Imagine One Piece reaching Chapter 1244 onwards.

Gunko and Brook

We return to the forest and see giants fighting against the Nightmare “Dragr” monster.

Brook wonders if that monster is the giant version of him

Nice one, Brook. Nice one.

The Giants of the village forbid the Straw Hats from fighting because they are guests. It seems the Giants will treat this solely as a matter for their own turf.

Since he is just a child, Colon is also not allowed to fight.

Nami calls Jarul and brings him to the injured giant guards, telling him about the intruders in the castle.

Jinbe immediately assumes that the Nightmare World is a product of Devil Fruits

Jarul tells another giant that two human intruders have come.

Brook tells Jarul to expect more than two intruders based on how many monsters have appeared.

Nami, meanwhile, says that she will not forgive anyone who tries to kidnap children, which hints towards her facing off against Gunko.

Usopp also says he wants to fight but in a smaller voice but Jarul forbids the two from fighting.

This is disappointing.

Franky is barely active in an arc about technology and Usopp is barely a protagonist in an arc about his dream with the Giants.

Zoro’s arc in Wano was also subdued but he was prominent enough, first as a falsely-accused murderer, then his awakening of Conqueror’s Haki and his fight against King.

Not to mention how all these occasions allowed Zoro to look within himself and the meaning of his swordsmanship, especially in the context of owning Oden’s wild sword, Enma.

Gunko is listening to music on headphones, which is apparently her after meal routine.

Her favorite song is “New World”, which makes her a Brook fan.

Sommers laughs at this and asks Gunko if she is dissatisfied with the current way of the world but Killingham tells her that it is not judges people’s preferences.

This is a good example of how to use a character quirk to tell a story.

Gunko has many unique quirks, from her bashfulness to her love of food and music, and they are pieces to make her an interesting character.

They are the perfect substitute for dialogue, especially fitting for a character who ideally does not speak too often.

We are now seeing a bit of contrast, as while she views Nika as a threat to her ordinary peace and privilege by being likely adopted by the Celestial Dragons, Gunko is also not satisfied with the current state of affairs.

Some of the lyrics would resonate with someone in a tough situation, perhaps with Gunko relating to Brook’s call to adventure, to the New World.

Maybe she even has her vision of a king, a leader. Could it be Shamrock or something else?

This could also be done to add actual contrasts to her character, making us question if she is actually a Revolutionary in disguise all along.

After all, she does have the trademark goggles, as we theorized, except this time maybe as a double agent FOR the Revolutionary Army?

Scopper Gaban Joins the Straw Hats in Battle!

Saul, meanwhile, has a solution to stop the kids as Gunko’s arrow leads them straight to the flames, which was not her plan but it is predetermined so not even she can stop it.

Saul calls Gunko’s arrow a “still cloth”, which could be due to her bandages.

So Saul blocks the path with a shield, which stops the first girl but it causes the second to bump into her and both experience the pain of Sommers’ invisible thorns.

Saul uses a rope to pull the kids from theb ack of the line one by one instead but the Fenrir Nightmare Monster appears.

It seems the monsters are guarding the kids, not allowing anyone to stop them.

We return to the Western Village and the giants take down the Dragr Monster, which was quite tough.

However, a large wave of monsters comes before them until we see the Great Eirik, the ship of the original Giant Warrior Pirates, flying and Dorry and Broggy destroy three monsters (the dragon, the bearded giant, and the monster with a hat) with Hakoku Sovereignty.

Scopper Gaban is together with Giant Warrior Pirates on the ship. He holds an axe in one hand and a bottle of sake in the other hand.

Editor’s comment: “At a time of desperation, the “left hand of the Pirate King” appears!!”

There will be NO BREAK NEXT WEEK.

One Piece Chapter 1145 will be released on April 7, 2025.
