Nagumo and Shishiba Join Forces! Sakamoto Days Chapter 221 Spoilers!

With Sakamoto out of the picture, can Nagumo and Shishiba’s alliance be of any help to the Sakamoto Family in the war against Slur?

SAKAMOTO DAYS © 2020 by Yuto Suzuki/SHUEISHA Inc.

In the previous Sakamoto Days chapter, Shin attempts to bring Sakamoto back to life with his mind-jacking.

Did he succeed?

Days 221 is titled, “Protect”

This chapter has 22 pages, including the color spread, showing fat Sakamoto and Shin together.

The caption says: “I want to protect this irreplaceable daily life”

Editor’s note: “Under a sky thick with clouds, ominous news reaches Aoi. After a brutal battle and a life-threatening wound, what fate awaits Sakamoto?”

The first page is colored, showing Aoi seeing the news involving an attack on the Super Aquarium, which is where the action took place since Chapter 214, with the report remarking that the attack was carried out with precision.

As the news anchor is about to bring up the victims, we cut to Shin’s group on the train as Shin attempts to revive Sakamoto, which is where we left last chapter

But it seems like nothing happened, with Shin saying he might have pushed his powers too much.

Suddenly, someone appears before them.

We cut away from this scene and focus on Shishiba’s situation as they hide in an abandoned building.

Shishiba looks after a sleeping Osaragi together with Kamihate.

Shishiba then sees Nagumo appear.

In the present story, Nagumo has not appeared in over a year or 51 chapters since Chapter 180: “Clue” but he has appeared in the Sakamoto and Shin flashback, ending on Chapter 203: “Recovery”

Nagumo says that the chaos caused by the defection of three Order members has helped him move around, which could also be a sarcastic remark from someone like him yet it could also be true as that meant Slur and the JAA are not eyeing him.

Shishiba grabs hold of Nagumo in anger but the latter reveals that the two were working together to kill Slur, with Nagumo infiltrating New JAA Headquarters to gather intel.

What made Shishiba mad was that Nagumo allowed Oki, Torres, Tanabata and X’s Organization to come to him.

Nagumo smiles and says that he did it so that Nagumo could sneak around the core without much security in the way.

Nagumo says he did not expect that Shishiba would lose, even with Osaragi backing him up, hoping he would taken down one, two or three.

Angered, Shishiba attempts to strike Nagumo down with his hammer but the latter dodges.

Shishiba was onboard with killing Slur but not staying in this war.

On different walls, Shishiba and Nagumo take down two JAA assassins that were eavesdropping on them.

Soon, more JAA assassins come in against the traitors and the two men fight them off while Nagumo argues about Shishiba dodging responsibility just because he left the Order.

Nagumo says that as assassins, they exist to protect the system and thus bear some of the blame for what the country has become.

This insight surprises Shishiba as it is unlike Nagumo and, not trusting those who kill for a higher cause, asks him what his goal really is.

When one assassin tries to lift Osaragi’s blanket, she immediately saws the man in half.

Kamihate is relieved to see Osaragi awake but Osaragi cries because she lost to the new JAA and her life has no meaning as an assassin.

Recalling Shishiba’s question, Nagumo recalls how he fought Uzuki and hesitated to kill him due to his Rion personality.

Now, regardless of that persona, Nagumo intends to kill Uzuki for sure.

Shishiba says that regardless of what Nagumo wants, he refuses to stay quiet after being humiliated by the new JAA.

Kamihate tells the two to stop bickering as it is scary.

Nagumo and Shishiba then see Kamihate’s cloaked form get close to them, with the two wishing he revealed his face.

While the other JAA look for Sakamoto, Gozu admonishes Uzuki for being too obsessed with Sakamoto.

Gozu has only seen Sakamoto once and thinks he is not as strong as the rumors suggest.

Uzuki says the blow he left was not enough to kill him and seems to be afraid of him for as long as Sakamoto is alive, Uzuki says they will not be able to move forward.

Gozu says he will go along with this but then hopes that after they find Sakamoto, Uzuki pull it together as he does not wish Uzuki would lead them in this sorry state, saying that the X’s Organization members that died like Haruma will not be able to rest easily.

This makes X’s Organization more akin to the Phantom Troupe from Hunter x Hunter.

We return to Sakamoto’s situation, where as it turns out, the person who found Shin and the rest was Granny Miya, who did all she could to treat Sakamoto.

Sakamoto is alive because his heart did not stop, so perhaps Shin was responsible for keeping Sakamoto alive.

However, whether or not he wakes up is up to Sakamoto.

Miya tells Shin and the rest to leave since they are wanted by Slur and that without Sakamoto, their group stands no chance.

Still, Shin refuses to run, saying that he intends to protect the Sakamoto Family, which has become a key part of his life, to the very end.

Editor’s note: “Did Shin’s determination truly reach Sakamoto’s heart?”

Sakamoto Days Chapter 222 will be released on July 21, 2025.
