Luffy Needs to LOCK IN! One Piece Chapter 1190 Full Spoilers!

In the previous One Piece chapter, Imu summons the 19 Weapons of the Creators of the World Government, providing for his two Holy Knights and using three intended to kill Luffy but is stopped by Gaban.

One Piece Chapter 1190 is titled, “One Whose Death is Rejoiced”

This chapter hass 17 pages.

The magazine cover features every Weekly Shonen Jump character, with Luffy as a ghost.

This is because this week’s issue, Issue 37/38, is in honor of the Obon Festival, Japan’s equivalent of Halloween and Day of the Dead.

This is why the magazine is on a break next week, meaning no One Piece, Sakamoto Days or even Hunter x Hunter, which does not take breaks outside of the hiatuses due to being released as a batch of 10 chapters.

In a way, the chapter placement is fitting since Scopper Gaban is likely about to die.

Gaban Scolds Luffy (Rightfully So!)

It’s off to the races!

The axe slice throws the tree Luffy was on away while Gaban faces off against the King of the World!

Gaban leaps up, surprised to see Imu’s strange form and Gaban identifies himself as someone who knows this world.

The double meaning is there, as he has seen the One Piece and met Imu much earlier before during the God Valley Incident but without the full experience Roger and Garp dealt with.

Gaban turns around and grabs Luffy, expressing his disappointment that a “weak old man” is saving an Emperor, a being with the white form of Sun God Nika.

While Luffy moans and whines about not dying here, Gaban says Luffy already died in this fight and asks what will happen to his crew and the country of Elbaph that his friends are fighting for if he remains this weak.

Gaban states that the sea is dangerous: the higher you climb, the more enemies you make and the title of Pirate King means that people will rejoice over his death because they seek his throne.

Gaban tells Luffy to take this fight seriously and not just wing it and have fun, otherwise he should go home and so Gaban throws Luffy away like a ragdoll

The Awaited One

Gaban resumes the fight with Mantis Axe Style” – “Praying Mantis Plum” !!!

Gaban unleashes a rolling style attack using his axes against Imu, but Imu blocks it easily by rotating his own axe

Gaban is curious about why Imu wants Luffy dead and his obsession with Joy Boy.

Imu brings out the 10th weapon called Honebami (“Bone Eater”) and wields it alongside the Xingtian Axe.

Honebami Tōshirō is a historic Japanese sword, a wakizashi (short sword) that was originally forged as a naginata (polearm) in the 13th century (Kamakura Period) by the famed smith Awataguchi Yoshimitsu before being shortened into a sword.

Its name translates to “bone-gnawing” or “bone-smasher” because legend says it was so sharp and destructive it could cut right through bone and the story is quite grim as a user playfully swung it at a friend and accidentally sliced through their bones.

Interestingly, the original Honebami was first forged as a naginata (polearm) before later being shortened into a wakizashi (short sword), while retaining its legendary name throughout history, almost like how Imu’s main weapon morphs from a polearm to a sword when calling out one of the 19 Weapons.

As they clash, Imu asks what knowledge he has and Gaban reveals he has “the words of Joy Boy”.

However, he clarifies that he is not doing this for an unknown man from the past but for his Captain’s dream to be completed.

Imu is coughing, likely due to the time constraint he is facing.

Meanwhile, Luffy tells his own wounds to heal, as if his imagination can be enough to will himself back to full recovery.

Imu asks what crew Gaban belonged to and he reveals he belonged to the crew of the Pirate King, Gol D. Roger.

Imu recalls how he wanted that name censored due to being a D, hence the origin behind the misnomer “Gold Roger”.

He asks why Gaban would defend Luffy, to which Gaban declares and in recalling his old crew and Whitebeard: that Luffy is the one they waited for.

He also remembers Roger’s words, that someone will be born to surpass them since they arrived “too early”.

Scopper Gaban’s Swan Song!

Imu intends to finish this all off, summoning a sentient Omen flame on Luffy’s chest, leading to Gaban leaping at top speed and after apologizing to Treasure Tree Adam for his attack “eating” the tree, he launches a new attack, Kamudo (“Divine Gate”)!

So far, we have two “Divine” attacks from the Roger Pirates: Kamusari (“Divine Departure”) from Roger and Shanks, and now this one, which leaves for the hopeful possibility of Rayleigh showing off a “Divine” attack as well.

We just witnessed the single-widest Advanced Conqueror’s Haki feat in the entire story, surpassing old Garp’s island-sized Galaxy Impact, proving not even the divine power of Gear 5 can match the power of the old generation of One Piece

As Gaban notes that Imu also believes in Luffy as Joy Boy, Gaban launches his final attack “Yachitakeru!” (8000 Tribal Leaders), a much stronger version of “Yasotakeru” (“80 Tribal Leaders”), which cuts down multiple parts of the Adam Tree branch which are small island-sized and destroy the mountain below in the Underworld.

Imu blocks the attack with a wall of Omen flame emitted from the Xingtian Axe and Honebami but gets hurt, and he is bleeding from the head, showing that this combination of Treasure Tree Adam’s enormity and Advanced Conqueror’s Haki can do real harm compared to anything Zoan form Loki or Luffy in Gear 5 could do.

After large sections of the Adam Tree’s branch falls to the Underworld, the scene cuts to the location of the Straw Hats and Loki in the Sun World, as Usopp senses Imu’s overwhelming strength.

The chapter ends with Gaban  lying motionless on the cut off tree branch as his left arm is severed.

Luffy sees him and panics.
