In the previous Sakamoto Days chapter, we got our matchups with Shin fighting Tanabata and it appears that Sakamoto is about to finally wake up.

Days 240 is titled, “Fly”

This chapter has 22 pages, including the color spread and a bonus page at the start, just like Jujutsu Kaisen Modulo Chapter 14.

Editor’s note: “Sakamoto is on the helicopter.”

To celebrate the 5th anniversary of the manga and as it heads into its final arc, Taro Sakamoto takes the Weekly Shonen Jump cover for this issue 2/26.

Sakamoto Days was first released on November 21, 2020.

The color spread shows Taro Sakamoto dominating the whole page with Aoi sitting on his hair, Hana jumping, Shin and Nagumo beside Sakamoto and a giant Piisuke taking Heisuke on his back from behind Taro.

As the backdrop is on one of the Sakamoto Store shelves, Shishiba and Osaragi, who is spotted eating from a giant bag of chips, are on the sidelines.

This color page has Shin announce “5 Special Projects” to commemorate the manga’s 5th Anniversary.

The chapter begins with the fights commencing but suddenly, one of the JAA grunts on the road, wanting recognition, fires a rocket on the helicopter rotor, endangering Sakamoto.

We return to Sakamoto’s mind, where Sakamoto sits outside the Sakamoto Store with his late friend Rion Akao and asks her if he did beat up Uzuki’s group.

Rion calls out Sakamoto for being depressed.

Rion then asks Sakamoto if he did enjoy his daily life.

Sakamoto says his ordinary life did make him excited, doing things his assassins career could not have enabled but he admits that life has also made him weaker and the thought of endangering his loved ones scared him, such that he thinks he should not have become complacent because of this peaceful life.

Rion makes fun of him, calling him a dumbass and asks what Sakamoto gained from this peaceful life as that is the strength he has gained.

Sakamoto asks what that has to do with this battle.

Rion laments on how she and Uzuki tried to build a normal life but made a mistake along the way that Sakamoto did not.

It seems this line of dialogue reinforces how the two did indeed have an actual, possibly romantic relationship together, one destroyed by the machinations of Uzuki’s brother and the former JAA Chairman.

As they walk up some stairs, Rion tells Sakamoto that his strength comes from the fact he has people to protect.

Asking if Sakamoto can manage his wounds, Rion tells Sakamoto he should go back to the real world to prove that to himself and to Rion that Sakamoto had become stronger than her.

Before forgetting this, Rion tells Sakamoto not to worry about the Rion-personality in Kei Uzuki as Sakamoto knows that this is a figment of Uzuki’s imagination.

Rion sees Uzuki as a poor fragmented soul who cannot fully wear the face of a villain, so Rion asks Sakamoto to handle him, maybe even bring Uzuki back to the light before it is too late.

Lastly, Rion asks Sakamoto to tell Akira that her revenge against Uzuki ends here and to her in some nice clothes, get her to go out, have fun and eat loads of delicious foods, anything she would ever want

Since Rion was Akira’s aunt and parental guardian, she hopes that her precious niece would get to live out her life and not make the same mistakes as Rion did.

Pointing a gun at him, Rion thanks Sakamoto and the latter bids her farewell.

We return to the real world, where Sakamoto rescues his family but to Shin’s shock, he resumed his fat form, something Shin had not seen in a while.

A while is an understatement.

Sakamoto has constantly been in his thin form since Chapter 177: “Kindaka” when Kindaka woke up from his 8-year coma and was recruited as Shin and Heisuke’s master.

This chapter was published on August 5, 2024, meaning a year and 4 months has passed since the last time Sakamoto was in his fat form.

On the ground, the JAA grunts cheer while Boiled and Atari look worried.

While still holding his family, Sakamoto lands between Osaragi and Torres

When Torres points his sandblasters behind Sakamoto, the latter turns around and puts the barrel into his mouth, blowing into it with enough force to destroy the sandblaster mechanism hidden under Torres’ coat.

It seems it is game over for Torres now that he has lost his sandblaster.

The momentum for this arc has returned now that Sakamoto has fully recovered.

Editor’s note: “A comeback..!”

Sakamoto Days Chapter 241 will be released on December 15, 2025.
