With Ban being aged up by Cath, is his death guaranteed now?

Four Knights of the Apocalypse © 2021 by Nakaba Suzuki/Kodansha

In the previous Four Knights of the Apocalypse chapter, Ban and Meliodas overwhelm Cath, to the point where Cath actually fears Ban as some kind of monster.

Four Knights of the Apocalypse Chapter 226 is titled, “Cath in Despair”

This chapter has 20 pages.

The cover features Cath Palug’s true form.

The chapter begins with the Four Evils actually being restored thanks to Cath siphoning the pieces off in the previous chapter.

Lancelot defeating them in the previous arc was already enough of a conclusion for them and at least Cath’s own actions undo their thrall under him..

We see Diodora coming to his father’s side, relieved that Ironside has finally opened his eyes and recognized him.

Worreldane checks on Pellegarde, who tells Balin to stay back since he still thinks he is being controlled by Chaos but Balin notes that none of the Four Evils are under Cath’s control anymore.

Balin explains that there is a clear gap in power between him and the Seven Deadly Sins, meaning he is unwilling to spare a drop of Chaos for them as he identifies them as a “God Killing Force”, having killed both gods, the Demon King and the Supreme Deity.

Cath quickly grabs Meliodas and summons light and darkness blasts with “Festivities of Holy and Evil.

Meliodas activates his Demon Mark and slices off Cath’s hand, freeing himself.

Cath repeats the same move as Meliodas asks where the real Arthur is.

Cath does not know but mentions the “sorceress” hid him somewhere he cannot detect.

After breaking out with a lot of force, Meliodas immediately figures out is Merlin but Cath notes that Meliodas is beginning to get tired.

Cath reveals that since every Clan has some Chaos in them, he is able to control Light, the weakness of Demons, and by taking down the leader, the rest of the Sins will fall.

So Ban steps in so Meliodas can conserve his stamina.

Angered by “leftovers” coming to interfere, Cath unleashes multiple attacks: “Gift of Woeful Poison”, “Bolt of Divinity”, and the ye old “Festival of Holy and Evil”

As this force threatens to destroy Liones, Ban punches through Cath’s chest.

King, yes, that King who once disliked Ban for most of the Seven Deadly Sins series, praises Ban’s ability to survive, as while the difference between himself and Ban is that Ban has only a few decades left while Demons, Giants and Fairies can live for centuries.

Yet this weakness is what allows him to go to places that the near-eternal cannot, hence why he has become the strongest in the world, stronger than Meliodas, the Prince of Darkness and Harlequin the current Fairy King.

Hearing this new death flag for Ban, Cath unleashes “Bubbling of Years”, with Cath remarking that because of how much of a monster Ban is, he has completely forgotten that Ban is still human and is subject to time.

We see Ban once again aged like he did when he was introduced in the original series and when he went through Purgatory.

However, this time it seems that Ban is reflecting his real age.

So let us put in some numbers here.

38 years before the start of Seven Deadly Sins, Ban was exactly 23 years old, staying in that age after drinking from the Fountain of Youth.

Furthermore, Ban spent a literal 1,560 years inside Purgatory: a thousand years finding Meliodas, 60 spending time with him and 500 fighting together against the Demon King.

This is because in Purgatory, one minute on Earth equals a full year.

Basically, Ban and Meliodas were in Purgatory for more than a day, about 26 hours.

And since Ban gave away his immortality to restore Elaine to life, this means Ban has started physically aging

With Four Knights of the Apocalypse Part 2 taking place 18 years after the main events of Seven Deadly Sins, Ban is now 41 years old but on Earth, he has been alive for 61 years.

Combined with his time in Purgatory, he is close to having 1,600 years but note that he already endured the 1560 years, meaning all that is left is the current human burden.

While Ban has insurmountable durability due to his time in Purgatory, time is still his greatest enemy and Cath has used the omnipotent power of Chaos to bring Ban’s human nature to humility, bringing him to an aged state.

Is this how Ban dies? Through aging?

Or will Lancelot end him?

Will it be out of mercy? By accident?

What is clear now is that there is no turning back for Ban.

He will be the second of the Seven Deadly Sins to die, joining Escanor soon.

Four Knights of the Apocalypse Chapter 227 is titled, “Liones in Frenzy” and will be released on February 25, 2026.
