We are about to get the origin story behind Brook’s forehead scar and the flashback is not yet over.
In the previous One Piece chapter, Brook witnesses the downfall of his Kingdom at the hands of St. Marcus Mars and a mysterious individual, all the while he sees a possessed Shuri kill her father.
One Piece Chapter 1186’s preview is as follows:

True Identity of the Third Party
We will finally figure out the identity of Marcus Mars’ subordinate or companion here.
Judging from the attire, he looks like a Holy Knight and is possibly Shuri’s biological father.
However, there is another leading idea and it has to do with some fans’ belief that Reuven is a relative or even brother of Rocks D. Xebec.
This was Brook at 28 years old, meaning this flashback was from 62 years ago.
So some fans think the man in military uniform could be an admiral, the one Rocks killed and possibly Sakazuki’s father but he lacks the Marine coat here.
Others have said he is Shiryu due to the timing of the chapter being close to his birthday and the vaguely similar facial structure and officer cap.
Either way, that gets answered this chapter.
Brook’s Head Wound
We will finally answer the question of where Brook got his crack on his forehead, which resembles an omega.
And it seems to be at the hands of Shuri, further cementing the negative memories he has with Shuri and Esperia.
